[QUOTE=jrerin]Funny thing........ I took 05 front hubs and re drilled them 5 X 100.... I have 4 sets of volks that are 5 X 100 so it was easier to re index the outer hub assembly and I now have the stronger fr end!!!!! While I was at it I had a second set drilled in case of track failure!!!!

This makes no sense. You took 05 STi hubs and put them in your 04? How did that work ;)

What makes no sense Tom? Mack at M1 modified 05 hubs to make an 04 bolt pattern because Russ had such a large investment in wheels in this pattern. So now he has the beefy 05 bearings while still being able to use his old BCD.

On the 04, the wheel bearing is a seperate piece from the hub. On the 05, the bearing is built into the hub which BOLTS into the 05 knuckle which is a completely different piece then the 04 knuckle. They don't interchange. Also, you lose DCCD and ABS (which is what we manufactured a fix for) if you place the 04 axle into the 05 knuckle as they a different design.
You can't take an 05 hub and just "put in on the 04 and have beefy bearings" ;)

I know that Tom. its not exactly plug and play. I believe they basically took a whole 05 knuckle, remachined the hub for the 04 BCD and reassembled. I should have taken pics of the assembly as they were working on it. Perhaps Russ can speak up and give a more detailed description of what they did.

What Mack at M1 Fab & Development did was take the entire 05' upright assembly and (knuckle, bearing/hub which now comes together) re-machined 05' hubs for a 04" BCD. Why 04' BCD? As Arnie mentioned: I already have 4 sets of VOLK CE28 in that pattern for track/street use. Your next question is about the axles..........we used 05' axles. I still have ABS and DCCD. 04' and 05' axles are different as you already know. Both inner and outer are different. The funny thing is my 04' tranny axle portion set up is the same as the 05'. It came that way from factory. Some 04's have the 05' axle set up on the tranny side only. All 04's have the same outer. You can call Mack at M1 Fabrication & Development (714) 797-8380 M1FD.COM since he figured it all out and has the info on the production date cut offs and other tech stuff. And yes we also switched the front struts for 05'.

Cool! So pretty much the same thing we are offering, except me manufactured a pimpy adapter that places the 04 ABS ring on the 04 axles in the proper position for the 05 hub. That way you can reuse your 04 axles :)
One of the positive (except your case of course) is the 5x114 bolt pattern. There are SO many more wider wheels available in that pattern. For example, you can get OTS 17x10 and 18x10 wheels from Enkei and 5zigen for that bolt pattern.

(yes, vendor account is on the way ;) )

To bad the end of the day came so soon, We would have liked you to toss our car around for a few laps. It would have been great to see the lap times a professional driver would have posted with it.
Sorry Russ
Thanks again,

I would have to spot Gary at least 1/2 a second as he is about 75 pounds lighter than me....... :D
If I show up in a suit and tie would that make me more professional???? Or should I wear scrubs????
