Anyone paint there FMIC?? part 2

njskatchmo 11-27-2005 02:32 PM

Their does not only signify joint possession.
Their is used when the owner is unspecific. as in "one"

IE. That person looked familiar. It was somethng about their walk.
"His or Her" is the proper phrase
and if you say it again, the next time would be "Her or His", then "His or Her", etc.

"Their" Refers to a single item that two people have joint possession of..

I.E.

Bob and Suzy own one painted intercooler.
Have they had luck painting "their" intercooler?

Bob has a painted intercooler.
Suzy has a painted intercooler.
Did either of them have luck painting "his or her" intercooler?

Nice try, however.

The original post should have read:

When you go on a job interview, make sure you tell the employer that your interview far an English teacher.

I love being able to point out to my kids the difference between those who get the good jobs job and careers, and those who wonder why everyone else has more than they do.

Thanks for giving me one more example.
2) Typing like a retard really does irk people. That long post about WR^2X hurt my brain. If you can't spell a simple word like lady correctly, how do you expect anyone to take you seriously and not assume you are just some annoying troll?

In the case of "one", I believe you would use "his or her"...

I.E. What would one do with his or her life if it weren't for on-line grammar battles? ;)

I might be wrong.. dont think so thou :)

I think you are right technically, but it's pretty well accepted to use their in place of his or her.I admit defeat.
speedblind 11-29-2005 07:28 PM

[Grammar dork]
I read an article awhile back about how "their" is becomming more and more accepted in journals/professional writing in place of "his or her" or "his/her." I always thought the his/her was awkward, but I'm so used to using it now that I automatically spot when someone misses and uses "their" in its place. It's still technically wrong, though, and I will continue to use his/her in our writing, no matter what becomes acceptable.

I also like how most people use apostrophes to pluralize a word - i.e. CD's instead of CDs.
[/Grammar dork]

To the OP, I would recommend the heat dissipate if you can find it or flat black Krylon if cost is an issue.
speedblind 11-30-2005 01:15 PM

Another option not mentioned so far is VHT flameproof flat black. It's ten bucks/can at Summit online. Product number is VHT-SP102.

Supposedly it's good up to 1500 degrees. Not sure how it holds up on an intercooler though as I don't know anybody that's tried it. Other than that +1 for radiator paint.
