Kimi all the way !!! As long as the motor holds togather.
I also think that Juan's time has come for a respectable finish.
So

Wow, two for two with Juan making a good showing...I'll third that. He's too quick to stay in this slump.

Gramps,
Sorry I didn't get to meet you up there, I was so busy the whole time. The show went great. Sold a lot of paintings, made some cash and met a crap load of drivers, Luzzi, Klien, Barichello, Scott Dixon, Kanaan, Massa, de la Rosa and so on. Coolest thing of the weekend was that I got to meet David Coulthard's parents without knowing it was them. They stopped to look at a painting called Redemption that was already sold and some how I didn't stick my foot in my mouth.

Heres a radio interview I did that aired on the Saturday of the GP on NPR. Its 14 mintues long so theres your warning.

Very nice interview. It's cool that they set that up for you.
How much do you charge for your pictures? You say it sometimes takes you two months to do one painting, so I'm assuming that the price is kinda high. Is that correct?

Thanks Matt, it was a cool experience.
Yeah they go from about $500 to $3000. Its mostly based on size marketability and honestly, how much I like them.

Gotcha. Well, then I'll just have to hope that you take "Stricken" and make it into a lithograph sometime. ;)
| artkevin | 07-07-2005 10:06 AM |
No more lithos for me. That stuff is WAY too expensive and much harder to sell then you would think. Striken is actually the only motorsports painting I have displayed in my house right now.
How do you guys think the recent terrorist attacks will affect the GP? I only ask this because there are plenty of other threads to show your support and I feel that we can talk about the ramifications to the race in here. My best wishes to all in the UK by the way.

I don't think the London bombings will effect the race too much... This GP is sold out, and track is miles from anywhere... F1 fans are pretty resilent, since there is only one race per year per country (or track anyways :) ).
Frankly, I suck this year... There are only 30 points seperating the top 5 impreza.net players. You guys have some impressive scores. I'm part of the 2nd tier, and our best score is about 50 points back from the front... There are 8 of us players running in the 2nd tier, and only 30 points seperating us. I didn't submit a pick for Australia, which bought my ticket into the 2nd tier. Still, in the past I've done OK on a race by race basis, with an Impreza.net win or two... so I thought I might be able to pull myself up into the first tier. But this year, race after race, I'm way off... middle of the pack scores... not even close to the front.
Enough crying... here's my picks:

Raikkonen - He was faster at France
M.Schumacher - This season is a tire war, and I'm gambling that B'stone provides Ferrari with a stout tire here
Alonso - He has momentum, but the Renault is not as fast as the Merc
Montoya - How much bad luck can a guy have in one season?
Barrichello - He likes Silverstone, so if B'stone gives him a good tire, he could podium
Fisichella - He had a great drive here last year in the Sauber
Trulli - I'm giving away points here... Jarno can finish higher than 7th here
Button - BAR is coming
M.Schumacher - This season is a tire war, and I'm gambling that B'stone provides Ferrari with a stout tire here
While I think Ferrari's lack of pace has to do with the Bridgestones, I also think there is more to it. I've read comments from Ferrari saying that the tires have improved dramatically and that their cars just don't have the speed. I hope this is the case and that McLaren and Renault just have better cars.

1. Alonso- kimi may pull it off, but alonso's been good all season so...
2. kimi- again, toss up between him and alonso
3. Schumy- Indy seems to have built his confidence up
4. Button- did good last race and he seemed excited in the interview on formula1.com, but I don't expect him to beat the other 3
5. Montoya- hopin he has some luck
6. Fisi- unsure here down, but can't go wrong with bettin on renault
7. Heidfeld- hopin
8. Barrichello- meh...
I just started gettin into F1 1/4 of the way into this season, so I'm not too great at predictions yet.

4. G.Fisichella - Likes this track and luck has to turn sometime
5. F.Alonso - Doesn't like this track but can use the points
6. M.Schumacher - Will need others to break to do better
7. J.Button - Should be a podium finishers but not feeling it

I really would like to see the RBR-Cosworth RB1 get a podium at Silverstone, or at one of the 2005 events at the very least. Go DC!
Realistically, Raikkonen for the win, Schumi and Alonso rounding out the podium.

My understanding is the race will take place as scheduled despite the terrorist attacks,
FWIW, Button himself said that the McLarens will walk the field. I give the not to Kimi for the win, and JPM for 3rd if he can keep his nose clean.

1. Kimi: Hes been fastest all year, he just doesn't have the realibility to grab the drivers.
2. Alonso: Unless something happens to Kimi Alonso will be in second. He had a great drivein Magny Cours and the only reason I would pick Kimi over alonso is his how charged he gets after continous losses.
3. Montoya: He deserves a podium. He is almost as fast as Kimi and Alonso, but if only he could finish a race.
4. Button or Trulli: Those japenese teams always come out with some crazy plans that leaves one of them high up. If only the japenese had racing history to go with it maybe they could win.
5. Shumi: I don't think Bridgestone is going to live up for Silverstone. On top of that I don't trust his engine on the second race. It just never works as well.
6. Fisi: If hes lucky. Hes not a bad driver, just inexperinced. His car isn't the problem its his racing. He doesn't have enough laps under his belt. He is gaining alot of epxerince with Renault though. If he doesn't get cauht up into something he will be right behing Shumi again.
7. Button or Trulli: The oen without the ahirball kamakizee scheme will end up ahead of the rest, but it the back of the pack.
8. David Coulthard: Hes been doing ify the past couple of races but Red Bull is coming back to home territory and Coulthard loves Silverstone. I think this will allow him to take a point.
Envision drop outs:
-Barrichello: Hes lost his grove ever since this became more and more like a lame duck season for him and Shumi. I think hell either go down the first corner with some minardi or will pull out late int he game with problems.
-Sato: Who can't call it. Hes almost as bad as Montoya.
-Villenuvue: I don't see anyway he will finish this track.

Maybe that was the wrong term. Yet, he definetly doesn't have the experience as others in the field. You can tell it when he drives. You can see it when he compalins about his inferior Renault. He doesn't have an inferior Renault, its not like Ferrari and Shumi. If he was so experienced why did he stall it in the pitlane in Magny Cours. Why hasn't he been able to recaptilise on the podium. Hes a good driver, with a great team who just needs a year or two of driving before he can be a champ.

150 F1 starts is inexperienced???? It's hard to find five guys in the field with more experience then Fisi. He has had some bad luck this year, half his fault and half the cars. I think he has gotten rattled by the pure speed of Alonso. If he doesn't pull something out by the end of this year he might lose any chance of being with a championship contending team.

Is F1 starts in a Sauber going to teach you much? You're in the back of grid. You don't worry about being hit as much going into the first corner. You don't acutally move forward in the beginning of the race. When you're in such teams most of your time is spent going slow around the track of stuck in the pits due to failures. Its not experience of the kind you need to win races. Its also the intuition involved in racing with the big boys that he doesn't have. He doesn't have I guess you could say mental capacity to be able to blast out fast laps while watching your brakes and the guy behind you. He never did that in a Sauber. This is the kind of experience Renault hopes to give him in order to make him Alonso's heir.

I'd say he has a right to complain about his inferior renault...seeing as it's broken on him plenty of times this season. :)
He did drive for some poor teams before...but he usually finished well and even won a race in them. Granted...Brazil was a little crazy that year but winning any race in a freakin Jordan is something to be proud of.
In my opinion one of the best drivers on the grid. Just give him a car that works!

Let's see...
In 1997, Fisi was third at Montreal and second at Spa both in Jordan
In 98, he was second in Monte Carlo and then Montreal now with Benneton
In 99, his third straight Montreal podium with P2
In 2000, Fisi had 3 podiums for Benneton, Brazil, Monte Carlo and Monteal
In 2001 a third at Spa, still with Benneton
In 2002 and 2003 he was bacj wtih Jordan where his bests were 5ths at Monte Carlo and Montreal and a win in Brazil
In 2004 his best finish was 4th in a Sauber, where else but Montreal.
This year Fisi won the first race of the season, but has had both mechanical and head problems since.
But, he has a pretty good pedigree and it's a stretch to call him inexperienced and needing to put in laps.

In 2004 his best finish was 4th in a Sauber, where else but Montreal.
This year Fisi won the first race of the season, but has had both mechanical and head problems since.
But, he has a pretty good pedigree and it's a stretch to call him inexperienced and needing to put in laps.
This is the kind of experience Renault hopes to give him in order to make him Alonso's heir.

I know we all sound like we work for Fisi's PR firm but he should have won Montreal this year. He is an incredible driver but as Peter Windsor always says, he has the Latin temperment. When things go well, they go REAL well. When he is down on himself he is his own worst enemy. I see him and Trulli as twins almost in their careers and their attitude.

Anyone notice that Jordan is the only team running a tribute to the bombings? At least as far as I can tell. Seems strange since it JUST happened and they are in England.

My picks for Sunday...
K.Raikkonen
J.Montoya
J.Button

J.Villeneuve
Absolutely no logic behind them as usual.

While watching qualifying this morning I overheard the announcers saying that BAR was going to take their car to the Bonneville Salt Flats after the season is done to see how fast it will go - they are guessing at 250mph.

Well Kimi qualified 2nd and ChilliDog is 4th. Only problem is, it's France all over again for Kimi as he blew his engine in the morning practice. So he's got too go back 10 spots. Go Mclaren!!!

I thought they decided to switch over to the newer engine instead of retaining the older engine. It didn't blow up. It was a consecious desicion.
By the way, if you guys really think Fisi is all that good, then fine. I agree, hes an amazing driver. And out of 150 starts, 2 wins is pretty good.

It was an oil pump drive failure that caused the need for the engine change, at least according to Norbert Haug.

Well, looking at last week's race. It doesn't seem to be a problem to him. I guess especially with the new spec engine.

But it is much harder to pass at Silverstone, and he's got JV's extra-wide car in front of him again. Still, I hope he can quickly get up there on fuel strategy to play with Alonso and Jensen.

Ugh, go figure. Another Kimi motor gone...I'd swear someone in McLaren is working AGAINST McLaren. Same happened to Mr. Hakkinen back in the days, when he tried to put the fight on Schuey.
Oh well. He started 13th last race, and ended in 2nd. This time he's starting 12th, ending in ???? Welp, here are my last second picks...
1. Alonso- simply unstoppable.
2. Montoya- still thinking about his hot wife, but less than before:)
3. Michael- will pass a couple of youngin's on his way to podium once again.
4. Kimi- will pass quite a few folks, but it will be a story of too little, too late.
5. Button- a few costly errors will allow him to lose a few spots.
6. Jarno- showing what Toyota can do.
7. DC- showing true spirit.
8. Fisi- stumped as to why he's not at Alonso's pace.
*bonus pick* Klein in top 10:).
Mika

I don't care if this messes up my picks, but I'm really cheering for Jense to win in front of his home crowd. That'd just be awesome.

Juan had a better finished than I had predicted. If ONLY Kimi had not of lost those 10 spots. This engine rule thing is totally stupid!!!!

That was a refreshing change after the bore that was France. Great to see Montoya finally wake up and start driving like he used to...too bad the title is already out of his reach.
Sadly I doubt we'll see much more from him as far as wins go this season as I'm sure team orders will come into play before too much longer.
I'm happy to see Justin Wilson grab his first Champ Car win too :D

You suck Ferg. I read this thread as I was watching the Champ Car race on TiVO.
If Kimi's enigines keep going boom I am sure Ron will let Juan win. ;)
It was a great race today with a lot of action throughout the field and only one retirement. Thats amazing.
I too am glad that Wilson got his madien win in Champ car. He is a great driver and I think he got a lot of crap when he was in F1 when he was driving POS cars. I was hoping AJ would get to 2nd, it sucked to see him go out like that.

Oh crap I'm sorry Kevin, I was so jacked up after watching Wilson's pass on Servia I didn't even think! It was a thrilling race, which is something Champ Car seems to be again struggling with this year. At least they've done away with all the pit stop gimmicks.
I won't bring up the great Moto GP race at Laguna then... ;)

Weird. I thought the French GP was much more entertaining than the British GP. I actually fell asleep today with 3 laps left. :o
