yeah, cause I might die trailering my sti 20 miles to the local 8th mile track  .
I've given up on this thread. I know the h3 isnt the best towing vehicle, never said it was. for some reason, many of you cant understand that this is a short term leased vehicle that will be replaced with something else. Never have I asked anyones opinions about "which truck should I buy to trailer my sti?" did anyone ever stop to think I might have another tow vehicle planned for the future? regardless, the h3 will easily handle my monthly trips to the local dragstrip.
I would like to buy a f'ing lightweight aluminum trailer, so unless you have helpful information about TRAILERS, piss off.

Perhaps you are a former Hondah owner? nice, very nice.
Just remember if you get in a fender bender, your insurance won't cover you, even if it's only a 20 mile trip to the 8th mile track.

I think almost everyone understands that, however it really has no bearing on most of the conversation in this thread.
You going to buy a new vehicle down the road still doesn't change the fact that the H3 isn't a SAFE tow vehicle RIGHT NOW for what you want. Again, a point you completely fail to grasp.
"But your honor, I can't be at fault for this accident because of exceeding my towing capacity. I thought it was 5500 instead of the published 4500 and I was going to get a new truck soon anyways, this was a short term solution! How can I be at fault?"
I would like to buy a f'ing lightweight aluminum trailer, so unless you have helpful information about TRAILERS, piss off.
See the thread. Plenty of good options.
However, you also have failed to address, as many people have said, that your trailering capacity is 4,500 lbs. Please, keep that in mind when towing.

wtf, are you serious  ? I am trying to figure out which trailer I want to buy, not which tow vehicle I need to have. look back at all of your posts, you have not tried to help answer ANY of my questions, instead you have been on a crusade to convince me to not tow anything with my H3.

I have acknowledged several times that the towing capacity of my h3 is not ideal, however it will easily handle the task of taking my sti to the local dragstrip 20 miles away. I dont even own a trailer, just doing some preliminary research. I am going to buy one, might not be today or tomorrow, but it's going to happen. did it ever occur to you that I can buy almost anythng I want, anytime I want? that includes a new tow vehicle if deemed necessary for my needs.

 typical of nasioc. instead of just trying to help me select a trailer, people like you end up destroying good informational threads.

^absolutely nothing offered by you. would you like to make a recomendation for a good trailer? that's all I want to hear from you, nothing else.

See the point KC is making is that almost any trailer combined with an STi would be illegal to tow behind your H3, which makes this entire thread useless as you can't tow your STi legally behind your H3, unless you were flat towing it!
You are missing KC, and several other members of this site's point, which is get a proper tow vehicle, then look for a trailer since your current one is not going to cut it, even "20 miles to and from the drag strip"

not necessarily. the featherlite trailor I want is 1385lbs, model 3110. I can easily remove 100lbs from my sti for my trips to the track (passenger seat, spare tire, jack, etc). technically, I will be "legal." I dont plan to trailer my car very often, quite possibly never with my h3. however, seeing that I feel 100% comfortable with its towing ability and the fact that I will be within the stated "legal" capacity, it might see some action.

And you will have no gear or passengers inside your H3 I would assume as well. Any load above the driver that you put in the tow vehicle, is subtracted from the towing amount allowed.
So if you have a few passengers in your H3 or other gear, you'd be over the limit. Besides what fun is 1/8 mile drag-queen racing w/o your friends there with you? :)

That's the difference right there. You're finally coming around to the point we were trying to make.
1) You thought that the capacity was 1000 more than what it actually was until we actually pointed it out to you. You now know that wasn't the truth and you're now planning accordingly. This is very evident by you editing your original post at 9:33 this morning and decreasing the capacity from 5500 to 4500. Success!
2) You're looking at trailer weights instead of just brands or features and in combination factoring in the total weight of the car to be towed. Success again.
It took a while, but now you're finally starting to see it.
I dont plan to trailer my car very often, quite possibly never with my h3.
That's very different from what you've said in this whole thread that you wanted a trailer FOR your H3 "in the near future". You argued until you were blue in the face that anything would be fine. Most of us said, "umm, not a good idea."
Now, you're finally coming around and realizing that for you to be able to tow behind the H3, then you need to have special considerations taken into account. Now, you're doing that. Excellent!
did it ever occur to you that I can buy almost anythng I want, anytime I want? that includes a new tow vehicle if deemed necessary for my needs.
 Gee, I'm impressed. I *love* it when people play the cubic dollars game!!! "I have more than you do... neener neener neeeeener".
typical of nasioc. instead of just trying to help me select a trailer, people like you end up destroying good informational threads.
Umm, wow. We're bringing into light many things you may have not considered, and it was evident you didn't until they were brought to light. It's a tough love. We're you brought up that no matter what, you can do whatever you want consequences be damned?
^absolutely nothing offered by you. would you like to make a recomendation for a good trailer? that's all I want to hear from you, nothing else.
 Yeah, ok. Got me there. Bringing up things like capacities and GVWR and loads have no bearing on the trailer you pick out. You really need to become educated on trailering.

Now that we've gotten all the good info out, including a bit of trailer knowledge others can search it and learn as well. With that we bring this fine thread to a close....
