There's a fair amount of (short) construction on the autobahns around here right now. A1 and A62 have a few closed exits and go down to one lane in 3 or 4 places that rally spectators will notice. Give yourself a little extra time.
Have fun.

Let me tell you something about those roads in Germany:
1. They are narrow as hell. And, meant for 2 cars
2. They are made of a asphalt/rubber mix
3. They are constantly getting wet and dry from the overhanging deep forests and rain showers.

No Money for Duval
2006-08-10
Last WRC season was not the most fortunate one for young Belgian Franoise Duval after more than one fatal crash in the Citron team. In January 2006 he made a deal with a new sponsor making it possible for him to drive at least seven WRC rallies this season in a First-Motorsport run Skoda Fabia WRC05. But the German event this weekend might unfortunately be the last one for Duval. The sponsor - a Belgian drink producer on the market for the energy drink kizz-me - owes First-Motorsport about 700000 according to the head of the team Willy Collignon. That is the reason why the rally car probably will enter the rally with no sign of the sponsor at the outside, Colignon says to rally-magazin.de.

| WRXedUSA | 08-11-2006 11:26 PM |
Well, day 1 is done, and our French "tarmac expert" is in 11th, pipped by Atkinson driving on full differentials and Solberg in 5th on a 2006 car that was rebuilt in 24 hours.
I think that kinda explains the story.
In other news, Duval wrecked out. Of all those "mid pack" fringe drivers of years past that I never thought would make it after the manufacturer shuffle, Toni is doing a ripping job.
Go Gardemiester!

At least Solberg gets a new engine for Finland (Germany's paired event).
Jan Kopecky in the Skoda won 2 stages today. Then again loeb was taking it easy.

Whenever the Eurosport coverage shows Petter, I cringe a little, because you know they're going to show something go wrong. All the tires in the world couldn't help Petter this weekend. Grenaded the engine during day 2 of the rally, while running in 5th place. There were some encouraging signs that the Impreza was back on a competitive pace on tarmac, however.
Between the freak accidents, poor Pirelli compounds, and numerous mechanical failures, something's gotta go right!
