JDM STi seats Bride/Recaro part 1

norseone 05-06-2004 05:53 PM

JDM STi seats Bride/Recaro
I can get some JDM STi Spec-C seats for $1300 for everything. However I am not big on STi stuff unless its rare. And especially if the are the regular blue/black STi seats. However all black STi seats I can deal with.

However I can also get some Brides, Recaro's, what have you.

What would you get??? Price does not matter.

I dont do any road racing, just canyon driving and the like. I just want something snug and blinging! Not like the stock WRX seats.

And I want something that reclines, no bucket.
03WRXMA 05-06-2004 06:09 PM

I LOVE my V8 JDM's, great fit, OEM finish, and bolts right in.

Its all up to you and your wallet in the end.

Where can you get JDM STI seats for $1300?

I will get them elsewhere.

My wallet is FAT y0! :p So price does not matter.

I just wanted to hear from some people that maybe have sat in each of these seats and knows the difference. There is nowhere around here that I can sit in a bride seat, or even a recaro to see what they feel like.

I am 6'1" 175 with a 33" waist. So I know the JDM STi's would work fine. dont know about the other two.

I imagine they are made for little asian dudes, not tall white boys!

Willyip 05-06-2004 07:07 PM

Of course, Bride or Recaro. If you willing to spend $1300. Why don't you go for something in good looking..

Here is mine

I wouldn't spend $1300 for a pair of seats that almost same as original
03WRXMA 05-06-2004 07:11 PM

red seats in a white car is good looking

maybe to you, and I can understand its your car so its your taste.. so more power too you.

BUT those dont recline...;)

The STI factory seats in blue. What do you think?
IronMonkeyL255 05-06-2004 07:16 PM

Try to find the Spec C seats. They are oodles more comfortable and supportive than the regular STi seats.
norseone 05-06-2004 07:17 PM

This is good looking to me:

I can get those, or I can get brides, recaros, whatever it does not matter. But for $1300 I can get front and rear Spec C seats. Yeah they are STi, but I dont care. They look cool!

Otherwise I will get some brides if someone can confirm they wont be too tight on me.

Red is not bad, but not really my style. I prefer black.

I already found them. ;)

Just deciding on what to buy, Spec-C seats or aftermarket seats.

With a blue carpet and blue door panels
03WRXMA 05-06-2004 07:20 PM

Also FWIW the Brides are hot  dont get me wrong..

AND Spec C seats for $1300 is a smoking deal, since just plain ol JDM V8's go for that much. They are they same seat, just in cool black hotness.

what do you think would look better all black or black/blue?

IMO depends on what door panels you have.

On my V8 seats, I have the adjuster from a set of USDM STi seats, so I have adjusters on both driver and pass. side
WanganRunner 05-06-2004 07:45 PM

Get Recaros, they rule.

Brides have a tendancy to be very small, I dunno what your physical proportions are, but they can be a bit tight for anyone too big/tall. I'm a little mofo, so I might pick up Zeta IIs, but honestly I like the Recaro Pole Positions better.

norseone 05-06-2004 10:58 PM

Why dont you just post that link everywhere, so everyone knows!

:furious:

EDIT: If I dont get those I will get the Brides.
2003WRX 05-07-2004 12:10 AM

Something like this would be cool. Those Spec C seats are of course, cool as well.

PoweredByRICE 05-07-2004 12:12 AM

i really dont know if i want to spend atleast $1300 on stock seats from an STI..i think aftermarket would be cooler but i dunno..who makes seats for the rex that have brackets to fit like factory?

also..IMO..my stock seats in my wrx feel cheap..does the STI's seats feel better?

Cause they are RARE. I have personnaly only seen 4 sets of them in the US, EBAY and here. NOt to say there arent more, but its still RARE to see them. PLus I dont want blue/black seats. And I get back seats as well. Not just the fronts.

FWIW

And you can buy brackets for the WRX from wedge and bride AFAIK.
lupohki 05-07-2004 12:25 AM

Where is a cheap place online to get seats?
norseone 05-07-2004 12:27 AM

Depends on what you want. Gruppe-s has the cheapest price for Brides that I have seen.

www.gruppe-s.com
2003WRX 05-07-2004 01:59 AM

I agree the Spec C seats have some appeal because they are rare. They appear to be a better design comfortwise than the stock seats (or at least I hope so). The Brides definitely seem to have more bolstering, etc. I guess if you want bling and rare, the Spec Cs would be good, otherwise if you want some bling and function the Brides might be a better choice. Either way, it'll be cool.

By the way, you should check with Ben/Nick at Rally Sport Direct. They sell Bride and Sparco and might be able to give you a local hookup. No extra shipping at least...
whiterabbit 05-07-2004 03:47 AM

brides with bride down the middle are discontinued. i might be selling my set in the near future.
scrappydoo 05-07-2004 05:01 AM

Just be aware that most of the Brides are super skinny, so if you're a lardass like me you won't fit in em.
Dloong 05-07-2004 05:11 AM

why not sparco seats ?
vermonster 05-07-2004 07:40 AM

I put in a set of bride brix II a few weeks ago, and they are real snug (good) for me (5'10, 155 lbs skinny white kid) My waist is a 31", and I would not want these seats any tighter at my hips. Kidney area and shoulders are perfect. I now understand why Bride is called "the holding monster" Super comfy for long trips, and supportive as hell for spirited back road excitement. Highly suggest them if you fit.

Go with the STi Spec-Cs norse :)

Nope. Not around this dump! :p
scrappydoo 05-07-2004 10:23 AM

Damn, then I wouldn't chance it. You'll wait forever for them when you order em, and if you don't like em then you gotta resell them. Anyway there's a local kid with the Brix(sp?) in his sti and a bunch of us sat in them when we were waiting to roll into a car show. The only person that liked em was 5'8" 120lbs. I'm fat (5'9" 240lbs) and I couldn't even squeeze one cheek in em.

NTP WRX 05-07-2004 12:12 PM

I have s202 seats front and rear. I love 'em. FWIW I'm 5'10" ~215lbs. They grip my butt much better than the stock WRX ones. My only complaint stems from the fact that they're from a RHD car. The side bolstering on the passenger seat bottom (driver's seat in my car) isn't as "tall" as it is on the driver's seat (passenger in my car). Or, at least that's my perception when I sit in one and move to the other.

I didn't bother with switching out the height adjust with the stockers. I sit higher in the car than I did before, but not enough to be a problem.

I haven't sat in a bride or recaro, so I have no point of comparison. Still, I voted for the JDM STi seats.

Neil.
So would brides be snug on me? 6'1" 175 with a 33" waist?
I've sat in Bride Ergo II's and Brix II's (I was interested in em at the time). I'm 5'5", 145-150lbs, with a 32" waist, and they were a tight squeeze with a jacket on. They felt snug and comfortable without the jacket though, with the Ergo's being a bit looser than the Brix's. I really like them, enough to buy them when I dont have to spend my money on other things first, but in a daily driver, I do see them as an inconvenience in terms of getting in and out of the car and in day to day driving when compared to the stockers.

I hope that made sense.
KIMUTAKU 05-07-2004 04:58 PM

i say if you are 6 feet+ and some 200lbs...don't go with bride..

unless you like the super tight fit..
norseone 05-07-2004 08:05 PM

****ing outbid by 1$!!!!!!!!!!
jagcars26 05-07-2004 09:29 PM

Norse,,you mite wanna make sure you can swap the rails with the wrx seats if you get the spec Cs.
Not as easy as one would imagine;)

is there anway i can custom fit the sti blue rear seats into a gc8?

and im pretty sure but arent the sti buckets just a set and bolt instalation?

Ghey. I lost the auction for the spec-c/S202 seats by 1$. The guy(member here) that won the auction(EBAY) does not really want the seats so he wants to sell them to me for 2K. He just bought them to get a better deal on the S202 muffler the guy was selling as well.

No thanks buddy, if it werent for you I would have gotten them for $1650. :furious:

Anyone else not impressed with fabric on Bride seats? The ones I sampled felt like I was sitting in a big red hooded sweatshirt. The fabric didn't give me the impression of being durable.

Recaro and those bucket seats must be much light than STI, however not as comfortable as STI........

I would still pick bucket seats, I wont spend $1500 for a set of heavier STI seats

and Recaro they look awesome! (theft magnet tho:( )
PoweredByRICE 05-13-2004 09:57 AM

Can anyone comment on the comftorability of the STI seats?

Are they more/less comftorable than stock WRX seats?

Felt a little harder in the showroom to me, just wondering everyone else's opinon..also are they suede in the inserts..
scrappydoo 05-13-2004 10:14 AM

The usdm Sti seats are exactly the same as the 04wrx seats, only difference is they have a different cover. All the blue in the seats is alcantara suede (ultra suede).
NeoteriX 05-13-2004 02:10 PM

Are there any EDM or JDM Subaru seats with side impact air bags?

Call me a weenie, but I couldn't bear to give them up.

Interesting, I thought they were different seats..so I guess you can just use STI seat covers on a WRX if you wanted to since they are the same..knowing subaru though they don't sell it seperately :)

Nevermind on the seat covers..this is why...

Driver seat bottom: $315
Driver seat back: $373
Passenger seat bottom: $315
Passenger seat back: $373

Gruppe-s has some of the older models, and they are about $100 cheaper.
scrappydoo 05-13-2004 07:20 PM

You can't buy just the covers cause the seat bottoms are sewn into the foam next to the bolsters.
scrappydoo 05-14-2004 03:40 AM

Sorry my mistake. I just checked and the seat bottoms are held in by hog-rings on the inside portion of the bolster.
