Otto Racing Reverse Glo Gauges - Just Installed!

Got this gauge overlay from procarparts.com. It's an Otto Racing Reverse Glo set and I love it!
When I was in the market for my latest car, one of my purchase criteria was a gauge cluster with a white or silver background that glows when lit. When I came across my now beloved Scooby, I couldn't let the green on black guages keep me from buying. But thanks to this forum, I learned that I can replace the gauges.
Here are the before and after shots.

kinda a lot of colors.. but it looks good

looks good but im used to seing them on hondas.
| pignoseWRX | 10-07-2005 11:23 PM |
doesnt match the wrx interior at all... looks like they belong on a neon or cavalier. and then with the odo still in green it just throws the color combos all off. just my opinion.
| DancherBoi | 10-08-2005 12:14 AM |
The green odometer doesn't bother me, but to finish the job right I am planning on doing that mod and making it blue as well as the rest of the LEDs.

Actually, I think it matches the interior nicely. What you don't see is the carbon fiber trim that I have installed which coordinates with the silver part of the gauges in the daytime. At night, I have to agree that the colors don't match the stock green. But it's a killer light show, that will coordinate better after I do the LED mod. Thanks for your 2 cents.

Interesting. The milky white seems very iPod-ish.

Needles are perfectly fine. No sticking and none of them came off. I noticed when installing them that the overlay was bowing up in the middle, but when I ensured that the alignment was proper and after I put the gauge pack back together, it flattened back out. I didn't use glue or tape or anything because I want to be able to remove them when I sell it.

I haven't seen that before and think it looks good.
| jojor512 | 10-08-2005 02:25 PM |
they look good to me man, i find the stock ones boring. I drove a ford escape for awhile and at first the white gauges looked out of place, but you get used to them, and the visibility at night is great.

people like you do not belong on these forums. this was a perfectly good thread with nice pictures and now it will be locked when the flaming starts. This mod increases the visibility of gauges at night if you want to get picky about whether it serves a purpose. The same can't be said for the thousands of people on this forum who have STI badges on non-STI cars regardless of parts. First and foremost incorrect badging = rice, not changing how your gauges look.

Hey at least your 'IMPREZA' logo now illuminates like the later WRXs :)
| WRX-ERROR | 10-10-2005 11:52 AM |
I like it.. But I spent too much on gauges to match my stock dash to change it now..
I think it would look alot better if it didn't have those bright circles in the middle of the tach and speedo. If that was black like the temp and gas it would rock IMHO.

Very Star Wars. It looks cool, but I think it's a little busy for me. The stockers are boring, but they convey the required information with a minimum of distraction. But hey, do what you like and tell the H8rs to bugger off.
| DieselClown | 10-10-2005 12:25 PM |
If they made them in pure white only, I may actually get it, with the stock font of course.
| WallyKincaid | 10-10-2005 02:47 PM |
Do they make boost, vac, volt, etc. gauges like this?
I think itd look pretty cool if you had a bunch, allthe same style.

I think the closest you will get to matching those gauges would be white faced Autometer calbalt gauges. They glow bright blue.
I saw a Honda with 6 of them in his car.. It looked like a neon light show. :D

 I just think they look ricey IMO. No need to get angry because you probably put ugly gauges on your car and regret the decision. And hank's gauges actually look good because they match his car.

Is there any reasonably easy way to change the odometer to blue as well? IMO it is too out of place with a blue cluster or i would be all over this...

maybe but shelling out $500 for an STi cluster isn't anything short of nausiating... So i am open to exploring other options...

Hank3, where did you get those gauges. I like the blue. I want mine to light up like that but am afraid to do the mod. This seems easier.
Also do the make any that have the cutout for the gear indicator thats in the auto, not that its really needed.
To bad there aren't any that would make ours look like the sti cluster.

Wow. Why does it look like cheap plastic film with "gauges" printed on with an inkjet printer? Because it IS cheap plactic film printed on an inkjet printer:

That looks like crap. See the printer lines?
I did the "white face" gauge thing to my truck in 1998. Boy did I regret that. This looks god-awful. Fix it now and forget you ever made this mistake.
Edit:..i was going to try to make this nicer.. oh nevermind.

yeah. i mean sand off the green film and then add led's/bulbcondoms of their choosing.
| Master2192 | 10-11-2005 04:52 PM |
The whole thing about these is not to just change the color of the back lighting. By installing these you get white face gauges during the day and nice easy to read gauges at night. Pictures don't do these overlay's justice as a camera can't capture it correctly.
I think it looks good Dancher and i was actually thinking of getting some of these for my RS as they would be a huge improvement over the extremely dark cluster it has now.

In reality, you should be looking at the road significantly moreso than your gauges. I don't buy this "increased visibility" BS that people spout about. I've never ONCE had difficulty reading a single OEM gauge on any car I've owned.

well, having driven a car with white gauges OEM and now having a car that has black ones, it's clear to me that at night white guages = increased visibility. That means that you can glance quicker at the gauges and get your eyes back up on the road. is it a huge difference? no. but is there a difference? yes.
I don't buy this "faster" turbo subaru BS that people spout about. I've never ONCE had difficulty going fast in any OEM NA car I've owned. :disco:

I got some cheapo indiglo white-face gauge inserts. Nver again. I'm not taking them off mainly because of ths **** i went thru putting them on. To this day my gas gauge still isnt 100% accurate.
Now I'm seeing burn spots here and there. Something is shorting inside the inserts themselves. Never again.
I like them in the day. They look good at night. I'm getting retty sick of guesstimating my fuel consumption based on miles driven and average mpg at last fill up.
