Hmmm, if Petter had won 10 rallies I am sure people would not be saying that the WRC was boring this year...
I am sure it will be good next year also, there will be a lot of teams reaching a similar level of cometitiveness due to the new rules, and that's good.

I would like to see some shuffling this next season, but Loeb may just end up in a privateer Citroen ride and continue to be strong. I remember when they only ran a few tarmac stages several years ago, and he looked strong then. He just keeps getting better. At least it's not as bad as schumacher. Yet. :)
| steev | 11-06-2005 04:11 PM |
Rally-Live confirmed Loeb in a Kronos-prepared Xsara for next year. It is going to be an exciting year my friends. I just hope McCrash does not take away the seat of any up and coming drivers (i.e. Pons, Sola, Duval, Stohl, Sordo, Bengu, etc...), it would be unfortunate really. I bet he can't get in the top ten in Australia...
I have a feeling the new Sub' is going to go great, along with the Mitsu... Just a guess.
Boy, I love speculating.

It won't make a difference, he'll still be just as fast. There will be very little difference between his "privateer" ride next year and his ride this year.

atkinson is leading after stage 4, thats if my eyeballs are workin right.
| Anibalz | 11-11-2005 01:36 AM |
Atkinson in 13th after stage 7!!! :( And McRae in 3rd!! Petter still leading but Loeb's closing on him. Problems for Gronholm dropped him to 11th.
| steev | 11-11-2005 07:30 AM |
Loeb took the lead on SS8, only to lose it in an OFF on SS9 (he is out of the rally)... Damn the man is just good! Petter now leads, with McCrash in second (yeah, his running position is so far down that all the roads have been swept up for him, it won't last...) and Duval in third. Atkinson is around 7th I think.
Wow, so Citroen won't beat Lancia for 11 wins in a season. But hey, they had a good run that had to stop at some point. I just find it amazing that Loeb still took the lead after having to sweep the roads all day long for everybody else behind him... Go Petter, it's time you cut that ferret sitting on your head... :)

Petter Solberg killed a kangaroo on SS13. No joke.
Damaged the engine and front end so much that they had to retire after the stage.
Now the real question is, who gets the tie-breaker for 2nd in the driver's championship, since both Gronholm and Solberg are retired from this rally...

Could be cool to see a Skoda/McRae win though. Think its Duvals to lose though. He has the best car by far in the few remaining.
| Anibalz | 11-12-2005 03:08 AM |
In this rally the rock that took Petter out had tail and legs!!!
I hope Harri Rovanpera wins for Mitsubishi and Skoda stays on Podium...in case of Duval, he really needs to stay focused if he wants not to crash, like he usually does...I just want a non-Citroen driver to win the rally. A double podium for Mitsu would be good for them, since I won't see Subaru winning...

MY friends brother worked for Vermont Sports Car and one of their cars hit a deer one and it basically exploded and they found deer parts all over the engine and inthe intake etc. (he had to clean it out :))

I have seen the European Eurosport feed, and they don't actually show the kangaroo getting nailed. It cuts to an in-cockpit shot with Petter looking quite surprised. Petter was leading the rally by over 47 seconds at the time.
As established earlier in the thread, Petter gets the tiebreaker over Gronholm for 2nd in the Driver's Championship for having won more rallies (3 vs. 2).

Marsupials are a little more robust, it's like hitting a bowling ball in a pillow sack.
Crappy luck. Unbelieveable. Looks like he wont get to shave his head until the Swedish Rally at least. I'm glad to see Colin doing well. I hope that he over takes Francios. I hope Skoda takes a hint on maybe they should have hired a top flight driver a long, long time ago.

I COULD put a bunch of stars and symbols to signify how pissed I am at this luck, but instead I'll remain calm and prepare to celebrate the '06 season winner: Petter.

I am truly happy for Duval. He has had a tough year and he really showed that he is level-headed enough to win... not to say that at 25 years old, he has a buttload of talent. In any case, still looking forward to next year and much, much closer battles amongst all manufacturers. Cheers!

I always thought Skoda had potential, they just never had the driving talent.
I think Subaru needs to call in the witch doctors... this streak of bad luck is getting ridiculous.
Like most everyone here I think, I'm glad to see Citroen go, but taking Peugeot out too is going to take away Subaru's only real competition. Loeb might be close, but I think he's going to find life with a privateer much different.
Anyhow, if the shawmen do their work good, Subaru should be looking forward to a more sucessful season in '06.

I don't think much is going to change. Loeb's privateer team, Chronos, is still going to have factory support, without the "official" sponsorship.

I honestly have to say, yesterday was one of the few races I've watched recently that really had me excited. All of the typical frontrunners were out of the picture and the results weren't as consistent. I actually found myself not so disappointed that Petter crashed out, and really enjoyed watching McCrash get back up to speed.

mcrae was awesome.
i think he learned some new tricks out on the dakar.
every driver should sacrifice a few seconds for those jumps. they are the biggest reason to watch the rally of australia. duval was so boring in that section.
the new focus looks prety sharp. i think gronholm will put on a good show in that one.
the kronos xsara will be just as fast and consistant as the factory xsaras this season.
since mtsubishi has been running in 06 spec this year they should have a pretty good year coming up.
they need to grab colin.
