TSX Retrofit Completed: Installed

This is for one of the members here on the forums. As a part of my service I also properly aim the projectors. This requires me putting them on my car to make sure everything is 100% functional. This setup is really sweet because with this shroud, you cannot see the projector, screws, and everything else used to mount the projector in the reflector. The 3" BMW shrouds had to be trimmed ALOT, and then repainted. It really was alot of work and im ehxuasted. Everything worked out OK though....tough job I tell you..
The end result speaks for itself though.
The components used:
TSX Projectors, color modded
STi HID Headlamps with fully functional leveling motor
BMW 3" shrouds that had to be cutom fitted and mounted
BRAND NEW Philips D2S bulbs
Setup like this one ran the customer $575 (Not including shipping/paypal fees) plus trade for OEM STI HID headlamps in good condition.
Let me know what you think...

Yes it can, because I did it on my 05 WRX, but you will need to build a wire harness to connect the ballast.

Projectors will always be superior to reflectors, and thats the bottom line.
I cant say they are crap, but they sure arent as good as the TSX for example.

Taken from an '06 WRX TR - don't know if the camera was set on a different setting. Either the glare is above the cutoff line is from putting in an aftermarket HID kit or from a longer exposure setting:

Nice, this is EXACTLY what I would like to do on my 05 Wagon. Do I have to track down a set of STI headlights or could you make due with my OEM wrx headlight housings? I plan on purchasing an aftermarket HID kit.
| LightWerkz | 10-16-2006 07:51 AM |
BiggSean - PM'd you to discuss....
I can do it with your OEM WRX lamps, we just need to source out an OEM HID kit, preferably from Nissan/Subaru...
No aftermarket kit will work...

I read on one of your other posts that you have yet to do a bugeye. I would be very interested but am interested as to how it would come out. Is there any way you can photoshop a set of bugeye lights to look similar to what you'd be doing?
| LightWerkz | 10-16-2006 07:54 AM |
I am not that great with photoshop, but maybe someone else can try?

I might have an EDM bug eye retrofit coming soon!
Stay tuned..

Yes since the projector is mounted to the reflector, all stock aiming screws and leveling motor on the STi are fully functional.

how tight is the fit?
im thinking about a set of M3 projectors , and do you think that would be too big? or just source for the tsx/s2k favorites?

| LightWerkz | 10-17-2006 02:19 PM |
The fitment is only enough to fit the size of TSX projetors. They JUST make it...so do the shrouds. I have to modify the inner housing alittle bit too...it was a tough project. However this is what works, and this shrouds covers everything up too, so I think this setup is perfect.
| vwown3d | 10-17-2006 08:44 PM |
hey, any chance you can give me the measurements of the outter diameter of the lights. want to see if my shrouds will fit tsx projectors.
thanks!
thanks!
| LightWerkz | 10-17-2006 11:00 PM |
It all depends how far you want to place the projector in. Keep in mind the further back hidden it is, the further it sticks out the back...
I had to extend the housing about 2 inches, and cover it with a cap.

What shroud do you have?
I had to modify the shroud, as well as the innner housing so it wouldnt rub. Its alot of trimming and fitting. However I am extremely pleased with the results.
If you notice the 3" shroud BARELY fits....it had to be modfied in many ways. We have such a small amount of room to work in there is NO room for mistakes.
Check out this picture to see how close it is...

You can use either housing.
You dont need the leveling motor, and this can only be used on STi housings.
I dont have any wiring directions.

I have an 04 STi, headlights are in good condition.
Just trying to find out total costs. UPS ground shipping to Clifton, NJ is $27.48 for a 30 lb package shipped to CA, my zip calcuated on ups.com is $32.30 + insurance for full value. 3% Paypal fees for $575 + $32.30 = 607.30 is 18.22 So this should run me approximately $625.52 without the cost of insurance and would adjust according to weight as I am just estimating for calculation purposes. This is also without the cost of me shipping + insurance to you.
Sounds about right?

Headlamps only weigh 15lbs at most....
I am not doing swaps anymore, you send me the lamps, and have to wait about a weeks time.
I have a waiting list published on my site....
For 04/05 STI owners, its 600 plus shipping/paypal fees. If you do not have an STi (meaning no stock HID kit) I can source those out for you as well.
For everyone who is asking for prices, they are listed on my site. Currently im working with the BMW Shrouds/Bezels and TSX projectors because the fitment is like stock with a few modifications..

The results are absolutely incredible. I LOVE THIS MOD!!!!!!! Here is a thread with pictures. I'll be posting up some daytime pics tomorrow.
