your car caught fire?
| Maluco86 | 12-09-2005 03:44 PM |
yeahhh man, sucks, i wired it all wrong, and the wires heated up and I had smoke all over the place.. sucks.. but thank god that wasn't on this subaru i got now...
| AndyEJ20 | 12-09-2005 03:46 PM |
Use the Illum(headlight) fuse underneath ur dash, or if its an Impreza, just take out the coin holder by the steering wheel. Strip the wire, and just plug it in with the fuse :)
Thats how I did my gauges

cool, but i have everything wired up already... it was connected straight from the battery to a switch. i just wanted to see how it would look because i wasn't sure if it was the best place to put strobes... but it looks dope, so i just wanna know where to throw in a fuse, and what type of fuse (how many amps)

| Ben Crowson | 12-09-2005 04:29 PM |
Ideally you should use a 5 pin relay so you can cleanly incorporate a fuse, switch, and power supply. Your hot wire and switch and fuse should all go to the relay- just go to any automotive supply store and get a 55amp relay- usually in the headlight section.

Just rying to help, but strobes and things like it(neon glowing exhaust tips:lol:) will get made fun of here really quick. If you want your car to look nice theres a bunch of things you can do that dont cost a lot or dont cost anything. neons are just going to make your car look worse and ricey. Search clearing headlights or grill mod. first ones free and the next isnt too expensive. Oh, if your car caught fire last time you tried it, id suggest taking it to a shop or audio place to get them installed.

neon lights and all other things ricey don't go over well here. I was at a local speed shop today and an EVO that was wrecked was towed in. Two neon light tubes under the car. One of the owner's first mods. Everyone was laughing. Why would you buy a fast car and buy lights that don't do anything (I wonder if Porsche owners dream of neon)?. If you ever catch me sporting some neon or glow strobes (not stobes) just stab me in the eye with something sharp.

Don't listen to all the haters :(
lol, neon, when reffered to as "rice", is usually considered as crappy underbody glow, when you can clearly see the bars, and they, well, just look like crap. But maybe like, under the dash, inside the car, would look pretty decent. That is if you don't have 20 wires just hanging everywhere.

do me a favor and jump off a cliff. thanks
and for the thread starter asking about neon, uhhh... why did you buy a subaru?
if i ever saw you in your car in real life with neon lights flashing, i would definitely laugh in your face. sorry, but it's the truth. as is the fact that when you think people are "checking out your whip" they are actually looking at how ridiculous your car looks. i know i gawk at every car i ever seen drive by with those "underglow" lights, and it's ALWAYS in disgust. i'm sorry, but it's the honest truth that people laugh at crap like that. And cops won't be too fond of it either. but uh, have fun convulsing when your in-dash neon lights strike a nerve.

Different strokes for different folks. He's entitled to waste....err I mean spend his money in whatever way he chooses. Of course we are equally entitled to ridicule him for doing so... :D I personally bought a WRX because at the time I purchased it, it gave me the most engineering/performance/fun for my money of any other car on the market. Simple as that. I didn't care about anything else. But I'm sure motivations of subaru buyers differ greatly ranging from mine to idiots looking to make fashion statements.
That said, be aware that numerous extensive scientific studies have shown that spending money on crap such as neon lights will give you lung cancer, shrink your penis, cause brain damage and lead to early baldness.

R-I-C-E.... please please please dont honda-ify your subaru. It makes us all look bad. Subarus are performance driving machines, not lazer light shows on wheels. But it sounds like you grounded out a positive lead somewhere along the way that made your wires burn up and smoke.

hmm lets see here, do any honda's come straight from the factory with a giant carbon fiber wing on the back and a massive hood scoop?? I think not. How about bright pink emblems... mmm no. Do honda's come with a factory option rear diffuser that does practically nothing? again... I dont think so. Now, I still love every one of these cars, but if any of the honda's came with these options you'd all be screaming ricer.

honda NSX
| theicewall | 12-11-2005 10:45 AM |
the honda nsx is completely outdated for a supercar and in fact, they just stopped making them because they realized they need to redesign a new HSC before they can launch a new and improved nsx that actually puts up numbers like a supercar should. Additionally, do not compare an f*n 90,000 car to you downgrading your wrx to a civic. Not that I have a problem with a civic, it does its job, drives from point A to point B, I have a problem with people buying a civic, calling it a "fast" car, putting "Fast and the furious" or more appropriately "slow and lethargic" decals all over their car with park benches for spoilers and stupid things like streetglow. If you will notice, there are no streetglow products on the streetglow solaras! Not a single one! Cars that are truely fast don't need stupid **** like that to look cool. The car itself is impressive. If you want to go ahead and make your car look like a cheap distasteful pos go ahead, but please debadge it and put a honda emblem on it first so you dont give us a bad name. Maybe, just maybe people might think it is a honda.

The STi has a very powerful nice 300hp 2.5L flat four. I should know I drive one and love it dearly. But please think about the awsome performance Honda can produce with no forced induction. The S2000 when introduced had a 2.0L 240hp engine with a 9,000rpm redline and still qualified as an LEV vehicle. Thats a clean air 120hp per liter. The STi does the exact same per liter and is as clean but needs forced induction and more displacement. The S2K also bested the other roadsters in its class (BMW Z3 and Porsche Boxster). I'd say Honda has the performance. IMO the S2K just needs a little boost. Imagine a N/A STI  . It just wouldn't be right now would it?

no you actually compared a Porsche to a Subaru, not an NSX. A Porsche happens to be a more well designed and expensive vehice, likely a characteristic of its higher price. So what are you trying to say again?
Also AFAIK no NASIOC SWAT team was sent to the OP's house to detain, interrogate, or re-educate the poor guy on his feelings of " 2fast2furious" Neon "Stobes". If he wants to buy them he is free to waste his hard earned money.
We were just trying to save some of his dignity for him
