These will fry your stock wiring harness. They are 80W and up. I wanted something easy to put in not have to splice a diffrent wiring harness for my lights.
By the way looking at your profile, shows you just signed up here and you are shilling for the web site you said to get these bulbs. Not very unbiased IMO.

Last week Autozone had Silverstars for 19.99 plus a 5.00 rebate on each bulb. Wish I hadn't paid 25 each at Pep Boys. Actually, I still think they're great bulbs, even at 25. Make the switch.

I just hope that what my PIAA's did to my headlights won't hapen with these bulbs!
THe PIASS Super White turned my headlights fogy inside. Have to open them and clear the housing.

The other comment to make about this is that higher Kelvin ratings are in fact giving you less usable light. 4000K is quite effective.

I wondered in another thread why people on the i-Club have to piss on everything. My speculation is that everyone needs to feel superior to everyone else. So whatever anyone has, "Mine's better."
In fact, there is a lot of good stuff out there that lots of people are using.

I just put these bulbs in and I must say what a difference. They are extremely white and create a great field of vision. I have a couple of observations though. The boundary between light and dark is very abrupt in low beam. This isn't good or bad its actually kind of cool. When driving in the dark of night its like a following a black wall. The high beams seem to be aimed too high now. The Silverstars provide a ton of illumination, but it doesn't seem well directed. The high beams don't ever seem to be pointed at the road surface. I will try to lower the headlight aim and see if that changes the high beam target without compromising the low beams.

I got some Silver Stars yesterday on the way to work at Autozone in CT. They were on Sale for 19.99 I did not look into the rebate thing though. I went home and forget I left them on my front seat. When I was watching TV at 11:30 PM it dawned on me that I had to put them in. I put them in last night and had to go driving around in my robe and slippers. The low beams light up the street much brighter and the high beams are quite impressive. Worth the money!

This is an alternative for little bit more money, but a drastic improvement - buy a set of heavy duty harness (with relay, fuse, heavy wires) and buy a pair of Hella 80/100 watt bulb.
Here is the break down: Sliver Star Price: ~$50/pr
HD harness: ~$40
Hella: ~$20/pr
For less than $20 more, you are getting plenty more light. VERY bright. It is only like 15% of the price of HID conversion without losing the hi-beam. Once again, very bright.

You guys looking for replacement fogs to accent the headlamps try a set of Hella yellowstars. I am running silverstars with yellowstars and it looks great. I have had several people ask me if the car came stock with that setup. For those of you unfamiliar with the yellowstars they are a bulb with a purplish yellow coating that emits a yellow glow on the road but to look at them dead on they don't look very yellow. Up close you can see a bit of purple light reflecting off the interior of the foglamp assembly. My opinion, silverstars and yellowstars are great lighting for the cost.

Hey gjhsu, here's what nobody has ever done: Line up a stock car and a SilverStar-equipped car side by side at night, so that people can see the difference.
Or, put one stock bulb back in, leave one SilverStar in, and photo the light, again at night.
Any takers?

Well, there's only one problem with that idea... I only have one car ;) and replacing those bulbs is no fun, cut my hand up a little on those metal things.... whatever they are.
But I'll see if I can get anyone around me that I know that'll be willing to do some comparisons, but I assure you, it's a marked improvement over stock.

Side by side comparison

I just installed my Silverstars not even a week ago. As I installed it, I had one bulb in and the oem bulb in as well, and I knew I should've taken a picture of it, but it was around 11:30 at night and it was freezing, so i didn't bother to go in the house and grab my camera :( . But I did the comparison with the lights on and they were remarkably different. I'll try and take one of the Silverstars out and replace the oem one in and take a picture of it sometime in the next few days, but if a prospective buyer of these bulbs can do that without me going back and taking it all apart, that'd be great. Just send a message to say that you will be doing it in the future. Good luck for future buyers that are going to install it. It's pretty simpe so long as you remove the fasteners correctly....I did it slowly so as not to break any of them.

Lots of digs at Piaa and the plasma bulbs. I could not agree more! I have wasted my money on these twice and I never will buy them again. Each set burnt out within three to six months.
I run the Sylvania Silver Stars now and for $40, they do a really nice job. The high beams are awesome for backroad rompings:) A step down from the Silver Star is the Cool Blue for about $25/pr. They also work well, are whiter than stock and fairly bright. I am kinda sold on the Sylvanias... for now:p

Nicotin2 its not the bulbs that make the IS300 fogs yellow, its the lenses. The lenses are tinted yellow. If you get Hella Yellow Stars or Sylvainia Weather vision the projected light will be yellow but the fogs will still pretty much look white. You will need to actually tint the fog lamp lens yellow to ge tthe same color as the IS300 fogs.
As far as headlights go I have the Sylvainia Cool Blues which have been on the market for quite some time. The bulb itself has a slight blue tint to it the the projected light output is quite a bit whiter than stock. When i compare the light out of the fogs and the headlights i can tell the difference and the high beams alot more effective now. Or at least they APPEAR to be more effective. I like them for the money. They are about $10 each I think. A much better investment than those cheesy blu HID replica bulbs. When I have some extra cash i'll definitely take a chance on the Silverstars. I assume they will only be better than what I have now. I have a couple extra sets of Cool Blues. $10 a set if anyone wants some.

Only, not just the wall shots, but also road shots, so that you can see the light output difference. I spoke to a GC8er with SilverStars, who said that you aren't really getting any more light, just whiter light. But that isn't in a setup like the WRX.

I wish I had a wall to do them against. I tried the shot whrough the window but it turned out like poo. I can tell you the light is whiter and more useful. I think they throw light just as far as stock, same wattage and reflector, but its easier to see what is out there farther. If I can the week I will park my car in the street and crouch between the lights and take pictures, new and old.
