Syms 2006 Kit part 1

SubyPunk 04-07-2006 11:10 PM

Syms 2006 Kit
Ok so I've asked about it befor, but the price scared me away and I no longer dug for information on it. Recently I was talking with my parents and they told me if i got above a 2000 on the SATs they would hook me up with the full kit, along with instilation and paint. Basically this made me work my a** off in preperation and well, I got a 2100! Now the question is where can I buy this and how much is it going for. Last I herd it was going for about 3000 but I dont know if that price has changed or not.

Also any places that I could order the kit from would be helpful.

Thanks alot guys.
Black-Falcon 04-07-2006 11:45 PM

Hey man, congrats on your SAT score! But unfortunately I don't think they sell it yet. Maybe some of the other members could correct me though.
Psyk 04-07-2006 11:53 PM

damn, a 2100...i'm gonna be shooting for like a 1500(whatever's passing)...thats about all i got in me...but congrats with the score and new to be kit!
deathinacan 04-08-2006 12:00 AM

not for sale yet. sorry, yur stuck modifying the older kit, but that runs around 4 g's.. the kit is clean as heck - same one i'm going for in about a year...

--- although, the money i'm using to buy it is from a year of gunning an M1A1 abrams in Iraq... not from a pat on the back for a good SAT score...
06suba 04-08-2006 12:22 AM

heres the link: http://rallitek.com/exap20.html

Dude thats pretty low of you. Who cares how he got the money. Obviously his parents value a good education. Thats a pretty rare thing now-a-days.

i saw it on the site that sells the syms Kit
Yeah those are the JDM genuine subaru parts. That car is a regular WRX, and in Japan those are all the optional parts you can get from the factory.
Suby Punk,
And good luck on the body kit, although all the parts added up comes to $4899 w/o shipping, so a cool $5K for the body kit. (then paint and installation --> easy 6K) You could easily modify the bejesus outta your car, or trade it in for a WRX, and wouldn't lose a cent on the trade. (if that money went to the difference that is) Just my .02
kenny08 04-08-2006 07:46 AM

so there basically down to drop a couple g's for you because you did well on ONE test?

should've just used that couple g's and got a wrx. not a bad idea eh?

Syms kit looks mean:

Good choice.
y0gfx 04-08-2006 03:53 PM

Thats freaking awesome. Make sure you post up pics because I'm sure we all wanna see more angles of that kit.
Lexington 04-08-2006 04:43 PM

If you choose a Bodykit over a used STi.. get off nasioc.

now.
SubyPunk 04-08-2006 05:06 PM

Hahaha. If I had it my way I'd ask for the STI but my parents would rather have me look good than go fast. They would prefer me to park my car and let people stare at it in amazment then have me wrapped around a tree. I meen I'm definitely not going to complain if there offering a (as stated above) 5k body kit that will add up to 6ks in the end.

Hell its not like I'm not working. Ive saved up and baught this car myself, and now every other paycheck goes to gas and other mods. My parents are giving me this kit because I worked hard and they think I earned it. Not only that but Im getting scholarship offers to play D1 soccer. Thus the money they save in the tuition, they get to spend on my sister and I.

Like I said, I'm most certainly not gunna bi*ch when they offer me these things.

Thanks again for the help guys. Ill be sure to post up pics once its on :)

That would look SICK on my car. I got a vlimited front lip coming as well. Heres my car atm.

cefoskey 04-08-2006 05:39 PM

you guys are forgetting the HUGE insurance differences between a 2.5i and an STI for someone his age.
SubyPunk 04-08-2006 05:42 PM
you guys are forgetting the HUGE insurance differences between a 2.5i and an STI for someone his age.
Yea I didnt even think of that one yet. But another reason why I'm not bi*ching about getting a sick body kit.
aimetti 04-08-2006 06:01 PM

id bet the wrx wouldnt be a huge increase tho. I was looking into sti's and it was astronomical the differences with price of insurance. I am 21 completely clean record and I pay 200 a month for very good coverage. For a STI i was looking at like 380 a month.

I figured with the wrx having the 2.5 L engine in it now and alot of the styling options (front end , side skirts) I could live with just the wrx. Ive put swift springs on it , prodrive p7 wheels , graphite grey tints , spt catback exhaust and soon to be front lip and I just love the thing. If i feel the need for more power I will just buy a cobb ap and a dp and go stage2. I have no urge tho. I am more than happy with just the wrx. :D
CVR Motorsports 04-08-2006 06:24 PM

Beautiful kit, although Im partial to the Aqua kit myself ;)

https://cvrmotorsports.com/model.php?mod_id=254
Donzo 04-08-2006 06:42 PM

CVR, you have any other pics of the aqua kit?
WRXSIG 04-08-2006 06:59 PM

lol...my parents..i worked hard...i earned this.

im 20 and these threads get old quick. the world doesnt owe you a thing. you should have gotten a 2100 because you wanted to. Not because your mommy and daddy wanted you to get it.

looks with no power to back it up....ehhh no thanks. Get some driving lessons and then maybe you can have the wrx or sti you want.

*unsubscribes.*
speedDman1 04-08-2006 07:05 PM

I own SATs.....National Merit YEAHH....but my parents did get me a car...but not for that...
SubyPunk 04-08-2006 07:23 PM

Well at first it was a joke, then they actually said theyed come through because they thaught I had no chance in hell (which was completely true, I had no chance in hell). But I worked my ass off and got the grade. So they offered.

Listen I'm not asking to be criticized really. And I'm not a bad driver either. It just that my parents would rather me have a slower car that the sti or wrx because it makes THEM feel safer. I baught my car myself with all the money I had. Theres a big difference between around 21000 and 27000 when all is said and done.

Thanks to those who are helping me out.

And yea, I actually really like the look of that aqua kit. JW if you have any larger pics of either that or the Syms kit because I only have a few to base my decisions off of.

Thanks again.
Silver_04_WRX_SC 04-08-2006 07:41 PM

Hey if your parents want to buy you the kit, more power to you. $hit that is saving you alot of cash, and any Impreza will look hott with it. I personally like the ING kit the best, if I only had $810 dollars for the front bumper :( BTW I paid 22K OTD for my TR. ;)

And aimetti check out Japanparts for those parts:

looks like that one requires a new hood as well?
CVR Motorsports 04-08-2006 09:43 PM

For aqua pics checkout our site, we have more upon request. None of these kits for the 06 require a new hood, thats purely optional if you want carbon or kevlar. The Aqua kit actually made me seriously consider an 06, but Im happy with a lot of mfgrs showing interest and attention to the new body.

Syms
Zero/Sports
Aqua
Ings +1
Dolphin
Chargespeed
Varis

Im sure theres more, Ill find some more stuff as I have no life and entertain myself finding new stuff to drool over

so if thats not a new hood, howd they eliminate the hump in the stock hood around the top of the stock pig snout?
Lexington 04-08-2006 11:30 PM

Bodykits = going to cost you more, because you're going to have to replace them over and over and over again.

Either take the money and pay off anyhting else you owe on the car already.. or trade in for a WRX.

I'm 18 - I bought myself a WRX. Couldn't be happier.
SubyPunk 04-09-2006 12:01 AM

That aqua kit looks awsome. Can you post up some pics from different angles and such of the syms and aqua kits? That would be great.

Thanks alot CVR
WRXSIG 04-09-2006 12:23 AM

actually lets throw out the whole WRX/2.5 argument and let me ask you this....

DO you have aftermarket wheels? because if you have stock RS wheels with any bodykit its gonna look cheap.
wrxfactor 04-09-2006 01:14 AM
I baught my car myself with all the money I had.
This isn't the first time you said "baught" and that's pathetic. How do you get a 2100 on the new SAT and spell "bought" incorrectly more than once??

::edit:: And not to be a grammar nazi, but you spelled a ton of **** wrong. If I were your parents, I would change my mind, just looking at how you spell.
y0gfx 04-09-2006 02:37 AM

Wow people, stop negatively criticizing him. Its his car and his life. Give him positive feedback and constructive criticism because negative comments aren't going to change his parents decision to buy him something.
Optimus Prime 04-09-2006 02:55 AM

hey honestly, im not here to judge anyone, but just listen to my opinion....

your gonna crack the kit 6 months into owning it. trust me, i was your age once too..your gonna tell yourself, oh but i'll drive safe and slow, and carefully, but if you drive your car daily, and if your planning to use it in college too, dont get the kit. if you really wanna make your parents even MORE proud, refuse the 6k offer, and tell them to spend it on something more useful. cuz honestly, 6k bodykit on a 19k car with no power to back it up?

or better yet just ask them to give you the cash, 6k will go a LOONG way in college. trust me.
dcoty 04-09-2006 10:34 AM

Congrats on the score man! But if you ask me, if you are going to accept the generous offer (which im guessing you will), I say put the money towards a set of Tein Flex's w some sawy bars in the mix and a 4 pot brake upgrade in the front. Your car may not look 100x different (the drop from the flex's will be nice though :)) but you will LOVE the way your car drives. Just my .02 and again, congrats on the high score dude!
Dan
SubyPunk 04-09-2006 11:09 AM

Ok so lets say I refuse this kit. Should I ask for coilovers, struts, sways, and brakes?

And if I do perhaps refuse it, are there any other cheaper kits out for the 06 that get rid of the new nose?

Thanks
cefoskey 04-09-2006 11:10 AM

Dan
4 pots are way overrated. If he needs better brakes (for the whopping HP of a mechanically stock 2.5i  ) then all he really should get is pads, fluid, and maybe lines.
SubyPunk 04-09-2006 11:12 AM
actually lets throw out the whole WRX/2.5 argument and let me ask you this....

Yes I "bought" some stock sti rims off a friend.

They look gorgeous. I just really need to drop the car. I was gunna get some springs off him to, but if I'm going to say no to this kit like many are telling me to do, then I'll just hold out and buy some new ones.
cefoskey 04-09-2006 11:17 AM

Dude,

I say get the kit. Personally, the new front end looks so hideous anything that makes it look even slightly better would be worth it.

Heres a bit of advice: take the money, put it in a high yield savings account and just drive your car for a while and get used to how it handles and drives. In another year your kit choices should grow, and you will have a much better idea of what is and is not worth your money. Plus, youll have made a nice hunk of extra change in the meantime.

My .02
veightkiller 04-09-2006 12:18 PM

syms body kit look's nice on your car...but don't you want to focus more on power?anyways it's just me.
SubyPunk 04-09-2006 01:34 PM

well other than some drastic modifications what can I do to make it more powerful. Everytime I ask about that I'm told just to make it handle better. Ive got a catback, intake, and I'm looking into the lightweight flywheels and pullys but what else can I do to make it crank out a few more ponys?
Black-Falcon 04-09-2006 01:50 PM

Doesn't lightweight pulleys cause the engine to throw CELS's?

If you're not going to get the kit, I would do suspension. But personally I like the 6k in a high yeild savings account idea. That would be the more wise descision.
veightkiller 04-09-2006 01:55 PM

ver-7/8 and a 6speed tranny.

So with the bashing aside, grats on the score! What colleges are ya looking at?
SubyPunk 04-09-2006 08:28 PM

Thanks and yea I've herd that when combined the flywheel and the pully make it so light that it stalls in first somtimes. Thats what ive herd. So baisically Im only gunna go with one, that being the pully because who wants to pull out there entire tranny?

And yea Im thinking about Clemson, Miami, and Florida Tech. Thanks again.

PS. Is all that stuff about the stalling really true? Any first hand accounts?

SubyPunk 04-09-2006 10:29 PM

Haha aright will do Silver.

And what would I use 6k on a track for?
Sokana 04-10-2006 03:49 AM

I might sound stupid..but at 6K couldn't you do a WRX swap?
SubyPunk 04-10-2006 02:27 PM

Not sure? I thaught it was like 12k. But I might be confusing that with somthing else. All I know is that the problem with that, just like if I was to trade in and buy a WRX, would be that my parents really dont want the car any faster. I meen I have a new intake and a catback, along with the pully heading my way, but they would much rather have it look good/handle better, than have it go faster.

Keep your 2.5i, and do some other engine mods. Headers, intake, full exhaust, ect.. That should put you over the 200 HP mark (or close) and then hit the suspension mods. Then maybe some tatstefull cheaper body work, like the STi front lip, side strakes, rims, rear appron ect..
SubyPunk 04-10-2006 03:50 PM

Well I already have the intake done, and I was looking at the full obx system, mainly because its cheap and easy to access, but I thaught the 06 already comes with EL headers?
St0k3d 04-10-2006 04:12 PM

congrats on the score

i say do the body kit, but just make sure you have a baller (work, volk, advan etc) set of wheels, and a nice lowered drop to set it off and itll be sick

as far as power mods go on your car, call it done with what you got, maybe do some suspension stuff or some brakes to make the car look sick from the outside

you may only have 165hp but can stilll be a SEMA Show winner with the right body/stereo etc mods
SubyPunk 04-10-2006 04:14 PM

Hahaha aright. Good looks. Ill figure out the differences on both sides now that you put it that way.
dcoty 04-10-2006 05:54 PM

Hey,
My first car was an 01 2.5 rs actually and the mods that made it so much better to drive considering I did track it every other week during the summer, were all handling mods and new front brakes (but I did do a lot of tracking, so its true, pads, fluid and ss lines are perfect for you). But the suspension was by far the best (just giving my .02....again:D)!
Dan:)
SubyPunk 04-10-2006 09:01 PM

Ok so are coilovers worth the time of day? Or should I just go simple springs and struts and sways?
