The 22b at my local autocross part 2

FaastLegacy 03-19-2005 06:55 PM
Considering you registered rather recently, I won't bite. The Subaru 22B STi (yeah, wasn't officially called a WRX in its name) was the pinnacle car of the GC models. It had a forged, closed deck ej22 engine that made gobs of torque. The car had many the bits of the standard WRX Type R but there were many better pieces still. For instance, the car came stock with a ceramice double-plate clutch.

It's one of the most famous cars for any Subaru enthusiasts. So basically ready yourself for people to say: "End yourself fool". ;)
Can't forget the widebody. It was essentially the closest thing you get at the time to a Prodrive WRC car, though it did have the 2.2L.

one of the BIG things is that the car came stock with a seam welded chassis...not DOT legal in the states...the Bilstien suspension stock is nice too...oh and the BBS's...oh and the handmade widebody kit to fit bigger rubber under the fenders
As Morgan said, there is a 22B in springs...

But that and the one in NJ are the only 2 I know of in the US.
I may not know much about these cars, but at least now I know something thanks to the links. I just wanted to add my $.02 that those headlights look so stupid compared to what the other 22B's look like normally. That headlight job looks like what the high school kids do to their Honda headlights. I realize those aren't quite the same, but the other pictures I've seen of this car look way better, but that's just my opinion.

So let me get this straight that dealer owned 22b has a broken tranny and nobody is going to fix it so it can run again. That's just sad. Where is it at? I am considering stealing it and restoring it to it's former glory.

There will soon be anothere 22B in the US ... a member of CSCC ... Southern CA SCCA Solo2 club has bought one ... it's being dismantled in Japan ... and then brought into the country as used parts ... and then reassembled. Same fellow also has an EVO 7 ...

If that's Karl, is he going to keep it stock or turn it into a monster like his EVO 7? :alien:

edit: realized I was responding to an old thread....
kinda pissed they broke the tranny and are letting the 22B just sit there....someone get them gr8wheels.com
makofoto 09-13-2005 02:41 PM

... just a collectable "toy" for him ... I'm sure he'll bring it to an event ... not to race ... just for transpo ... he co-drives another's trailered car ... I'll post photos when he does ...
I'm not sayin git's NOT a 22b... however, what made them unique was the color code "22B" of the paint... they ONLY came in 22B Blue.

The only way to tell is to look at the color code on the firewall.
