Looks an awful lot like a photochop to me. I've never seen those lights before, and they sure aren't carried by any of the major vendors that I've seen.
bluewrx_nyc 03-27-2002 06:06 PM

Geek Guy :

If you never seen it does not been that it does not exist. MSPT will be one of the vendor that is going to sell this. I hate to be call a lier here is more pic to prove i am right and you are wrong !!!!!

I just noticed that they don't have projector lenses but reflector type lenses.
sherifx 03-27-2002 06:29 PM

nice!

Any more info? Website? Potential Group Buy? Ability to use HIDs? Build Quality?

thanks
sherif
bluewrx_nyc 03-27-2002 06:59 PM

we are working on a group buy, waiting for nick to approve.

Factory also work on putting HID on this, but high cost, around 650 to 700.

Quality is not that bad on the two round light, but signal light is not superb.

we are working on $299 retail and some type of discount for group buy.

thankx

yeah, it's reflector type lense. It's pretty bright too. !!

I like these, and I like the price as well. Too bad I've got my money tied up in other parts for now.

man, I really think these are the best headlight replacement option aside from the STi's! Everytime I see them I love them more and more. How soon can I get my grubby paws on them

sherif
S-WRX 03-28-2002 04:42 AM

man, those headlights are nice!!
Great price too!
Keep us updated. Is it going to be direct bolt on? any website for us to look it up?
zzzzzzzz 03-28-2002 09:50 AM

Uhh.....

IMHO, I don't think those lights would cut it. Just something with that top reflector just rubs me the wrong way.......
aov 03-28-2002 02:23 PM

I think the lights look great except the blinker part. I don't mind that they are reflector type if only the blinker looked more like the WRC lights. I know those don't have blinkers in that location, but I'd much rather have something that looks like the UK300 or Orciari lights. What about taking out the reflector and cover, and putting in a little blinker like the other two uses. That should be cheaper anyways.

can't argue with the price, though :D

westy66 03-28-2002 03:02 PM

Hey... $650 w/ HID... you'd sell a hundred sets of those!!
bluewrx_nyc 03-28-2002 03:15 PM

hi :
Actually those are already manufactured by the factory, but there are few issues that we want to figure out before we sell them.

1. wiring of the headlight. With daytime running, it's kind of hard to wire those head light

2. the signal on the head light need some work. (** we are thinking putting a vent instead of head light **)

This post is mainly to see how others response to the headlight. We are still debating should we get any more of those. We even think we should sell at cheaper price than $399. But before all, the 2 issues i mention need to be solve first.

Any suggestion are welcomed. Please leave any comments. Good / bad.
sherifx 03-28-2002 03:48 PM

personally, I almost prefer them with the turn signal...

in regards to the DRL (daytime running lights), I don't run my car with it, so its not really an issue on my part. My main concern is the build quality. The "WRC Replica lights that foreigner was selling were great and all, but I heard that they were flimsy and sadly enough, they weren't able to retain the vent from the original design, b/c they just weren't strong enough. keep us posted

sherif
aov 03-28-2002 04:16 PM

Do the lights come with parking lights? It would be great to have them work similar to european lights.

If you go with the vent/blinker instead of the current type, and you lower the price any further I don't think anyone would be able to compete with you. There would be no reason to pay more if these lights are equal or better quality than those already out there!!!

Looking forward to hearing more about them...

Silverscoob 03-28-2002 05:38 PM

A vent on the top painted to match the rest of the lights would be really nice. Im not sure I like them with the stockish looking top reflector, would look much better if it matched the bottom.
bluewrx_nyc 03-28-2002 07:28 PM

hi guys :
Here is some detail images. Please take a look. Any comments are welcome. These are prototype.

Here is one other type we are considering making !!

aov 03-28-2002 08:19 PM

The bottom one looks good, I just hope there is a way to incorporate a blinker :) (maybe behind the mesh!!!)

They look good, but from the back they look pretty simple, if you don't mind me saying so! If the light pattern is good this probably won't matter too much, especially if they are affordable :D

I did notice the height adjustment is pretty rudimentary, how well does it work? On the other kits they have a metal plate that supports the lights, is the plastic housing stiff enough to keep them from moving/vibrating.

Some pictures of the driving lights on, high beams on, and so fort would be great.

Keep the pics comming, sounds very promissing so far.

cheers,
-anders
dwx 03-28-2002 08:48 PM

Any chance of you just selling me the outside housing? I have the orciari lights now and love them, but the housings on these look better. They aren't as rounded and look more authentic to the actual WRC car. I would just do with the turn signal like Orciari did and put it in the upper corner and possibly make the rest of the housing a vent cutout.

If you'd sell me the housings without the lights I'll get some dimensions from/for you and see if they can accept the current orciari lights without much modification... If these are plug and play I think that would be enough to sell a bunch of them. I'd be willing to pay you a fair amount just for the housings...
TurboWRX 03-28-2002 09:39 PM

wow! thats a great price!
i'd definately be interested in this. just keep us updated on what happens :)
tifosi77 03-28-2002 10:04 PM

not bad, keep me posted.

Zahnster 03-28-2002 10:45 PM

Would making one of the lights in each housing a projector type be a sgnifigant increase in cost?
dwx 03-28-2002 11:13 PM

I think that's where the cost savings come in to play with these versus the Orciari and UK300 lights. Those both use ceramic Hella projector/reflectors with aiming motors... I'm not sure most people are really looking for that versus the look, but I could be wrong.
Michael 03-29-2002 01:50 AM

Hi everyone
i am bluewrx_nyc (marks) partner in GB
and work for MSPT.
updates on the headlights
the light fits without a problem
for the signal you will be able to reuse the stock signal harness.
you will have to wrapped the parking light socket (since it will not be in use) right now we are talking to the factory to have another hole for the parking light.
the wiring part is still under research now. we found out that the light will work better if the low beam is on the inside instead then on the outside. the beam pattern for the light that is on the inside is more spread out, and the beam on the outside is more like a pencil beam type.
the light itself if very bright.
the downside of it right now is that the weather seal that is use on the signal lens is not that great ( or they didn;t put enough of it) one of the head lamp is getting a bit condensation in the singal lens after a days worth or rain.
as for further info and R&D mark and i will keep everyone posted
thanks
michael

i'd also like to know if the lights can be made with projector lights.
bluewrx_nyc 04-01-2002 06:28 PM

we are thinking of HID instead of projector light in the future.

Right now the factory have some stocks on the headlight (exactly as shown). Anyone want a set please let me know. maybe i can get like 10 of them and save some shipping charge from taiwan.

Mark.

Thankx
dman918 04-01-2002 07:28 PM

Let me know when this is available. I will most likely pick them up at this type of pricing.
Thanks,
Mike
cball2211 04-02-2002 08:04 PM

I like those too, they look similar to the uk300 excluding the turn signal location. I think they look better than the Morettes so I probably would get these if they were 400 or less. Can you give us an ETA on the product development so I can see when I need to have the cash available?
bjteel 04-02-2002 08:10 PM

I like the bottom ones...

Why not make the bottom ones (with the grill in place of the blinker) and simply make the sidelamps (on the fenders) the blinkers........
bluewrx_nyc 04-02-2002 10:04 PM

hi guys:
the light are available already. Anyone who is interested please send me email. If i can get 10 sets order we can save some money on shipping since i need to ship them from taiwan.

THe only version available now is the first one (w/o the vent).
bluewrx_nyc 04-15-2002 03:39 PM

bump.

we have the wiring figure out already. Right now we are doing road test on two wrx. Anyone interested please let me know, so i can place an order. They are $399 each.
25RS 04-15-2002 04:46 PM

wow those look great! i am sure the final product will have all the issues worked out. let me know when these become available.
nqwan 04-15-2002 08:49 PM

i dont mean to be a pest or anything, but could you keep us updated on the possibility of a projector or hid version? also, will you be doing a vented version, as in a true replica of the wrc ones (not like the orciari)
bluewrx_nyc 04-15-2002 09:55 PM

HI :

it's hard to do projector since the molding are already done. The vent version will not be available in a short time. Also, the price will not be as cheap if we do projector.

As for HID, we still try to find the cheapest upgrade we can. It will be around $800 if we do go HID.

So, as of now, we only have the version shown in the pictures above. Sorry.

thankx
dwx 04-15-2002 10:23 PM

How is the turn signal secured? Is it possible to take out the plastic/glass in front of it and the metal behind it? I love the way the housing looks on these, it's much truer to the WRC lights than the Orciari (which I own) or the UK300s. The optics aren't really at the same level as either of those, but these are $200+ cheaper as well. I think I'll order some just to take a look at them. I've emailed you before about getting the housings only, but it looks like that isn't going to happen.
DDMan 04-15-2002 10:27 PM

Damn, i just saw this post for the first time!

Those look NICE, although it would be nice if the blinkers were only a bulb instead of the whole area.

Keep us posted, as I am looking at another lighting possibility what would look bad with these, and I REALLY dont want to get both and have to sell one.
bluewrx_nyc 04-19-2002 12:40 AM

bjteel 04-19-2002 09:45 AM

bump? bump what? Where is the prototype?
jamz 04-19-2002 11:10 AM

Man, sooo close, yet so far away- I would pay 400 bucks for WRC style lights, but those signal lenses are just plain wrong. It's too bad- change those out and I would JUMP on it!
WKDRX 04-19-2002 12:05 PM

the last one with the grill looks nice, thats the one I would get over the original, because I have mesh grill in front of my bumper, but like both , cant wait to buy a pair , thanks MARK
bluewrx_nyc 04-19-2002 12:09 PM

hi :

We are still waiting to see how much money and quantity are needed for the vent version.

Right now we have the clear signal light version for sale. It's $299.

Please email me if anyone interested.

I too like the grilled wrc light, just make the side light on the fender the blinker.

for some reason the ones on blue rex look different then the ones you have sitting alone. Does the one on car have some kind of black tint on it? If not, can you put black tint on it like the civic CTR lights :p

Stripe 04-19-2002 12:53 PM

The lights look good, do you think they would work with the Jun eyelids?
bluewrx_nyc 04-19-2002 04:56 PM

hi all :

I talk to the factory regarding pricing again, and now i was able to get new pricing.

Light is now $299.

Instead of getting 20 % off from $399 if we order 10 sets, i was only able to get $20 off if 10 sets or more are ordered now. Please let me know thankx

And we figure out the wiring for the light already with both high bean and low bean, day light driving working properly

Are these the mounting points for the top reflector?

See the dark circles at back of reflector:

Could these be the mounting tabs behind the bucket? Seems fairly straightforward to remove the offensive reflector and go with all black at top. My corner lamps already blink ;) Is this the case for those of you with them in front of you?

Thanks,

JamesC
jimhoyd 04-19-2002 05:30 PM

when will they make the replica STI headlights.. I'll buy them in a heartbeat....!!!

don't really fancy the blinker part.. it looks like it has frosted stripes???
sherifx 04-19-2002 06:25 PM

$299 I'm definetly interested. I'd love to see some more pix of t he headlights on a WRB WRX.

Question, will these work well with a HID kit? I'm not too knowledgeable regarding reflector/headlight design.

sherif
Hazdaz 04-19-2002 06:41 PM

I think they look pretty cool, and since my car is Silver, i am guessing that I could paint the housing silver too, and then the top blinker part would not be as noticible since it would be white-ish.
I was gonna photochop them, but I rather see teh real thing, so If ya got pix of one already painted (preferably silver), please post `em.

$299?? arghhhh thats soo tempting!! if they were projectors with vents like the wrc i'd be sending you money already :)
aspera 04-19-2002 06:57 PM

The "frosted" WRC-look lights might look good on a white car. I don't care for them on the blue car, though. They look like a cross between stock "bugeye" lights and WRC lights.

Orciari's and Prodrive's WRC replica lights look better IMHO. I wonder why these new lights cover old ground. Everybody is waiting for WRC replica lights with just a vent on top.

I'd like to see a fresh new design. Why not just have the top part of the cluster blank and smooth? How about extractor vents on the top of each cluster? How about an over-and-under cluster?

If you delete the turn signal from the cluster, then you could put it somewhere else. Clear grille surrounds that match clear side markers might look nice. How about just mounting round turn signal lamps in the corners of the grille itself?
WRXmy02 04-19-2002 07:42 PM

Frosted lenses went out with 8 track players:lol:

..nice bang for the buck:eek:

How bout some photos of the lights in use? A beam pattern
would help ...

They remind me of the Aucra Integra lights..small and round ,
side by side. [ that is a good thing! ] Bye,bye bug eyes.
