wrc replica head lights part 2

aspera 04-19-2002 08:16 PM

How about just one big (6 inch?) light per side? It would have to be centered to avoid looking cross eyed. Small H4 reflectors would be cheap enough and easier to wire. Blacked out lights like the VW guys use would look sweet.

OK, now it is time for the ultimate...no lights at all.:)
How about blacked out plastic covers with scoops in them for track days? These could be called NINJA LIGHTS...for when you go crazy and start kickin' a$$.:)

Orciari's and Prodrive's WRC replica lights look better IMHO. I wonder why these new lights cover old ground. Everybody is waiting for WRC replica lights with just a vent on top.

I'd like to see a fresh new design. Why not just have the top part of the cluster blank and smooth? How about extractor vents on the top of each cluster? How about an over-and-under cluster?

If you delete the turn signal from the cluster, then you could put it somewhere else. Clear grille surrounds that match clear side markers might look nice. How about just mounting round turn signal lamps in the corners of the grille itself? [/B][/QUOTE]

I think taking out the frosted top part would be easy enough. If you have looked in the vendor classifieds lately, there are two vendors that just started selling these lights today. The reason I like the housings more than the Orciari or UK300s is they are flat and molded to fit flush with the opening, like the actual WRC lights. The Orciari and UK300s bulge out a bit and aren't nearly as streamlined. I own the Orciari lights now and love the optics of them, which are a few steps above what these use. I'll probably end up buying a set of these and see what I can do.

Have any of you modded these lights yet? Got pics of them on your car? Pics of the modded housing up close?

Thanks

Isn't it the same light I've got on my car?

ODAKURAMA: Is it the color off in the digital pic, or do you ACTUALLY have a GREAT lookin yellow car  - as opposed to our pale yellow :( ?

If it REALLY looks like that, I really like it. (post more pix)

Looks like the same exact lights to me. In AU they have a special version of the WRX called the EVO that is yellow. I believe that's the same limited edition yellow that will be on the 2003 USDM WRX.

Again...if you have these lights, have you modded the top turn signal?
Scoobs 06-14-2002 03:34 PM

these lights are now selling for $270 shipped and like $290 or $300 painted...They will have the plug and play harness available in about 1 week maby eaven a few days. I am going to be ordering these as soon as the plug and play harness becomes available, and they are offering the plug and play harness for free so no dif in price...

I also like the rest of you am not thriled about the blinker cover. But after looking at it for days I do think the JUN eyelids will work.. worst case scenario I can have a vinyl set made for really cheap. But who knows the frosted lines in the blinker covers may look okay with a white wrx.. i am going to have the housings painted white also.

I got mine from them. $250 shipped.

Shipping was $20

They look good. I am thinking of painting the blinker with a light tint of black. Maybe a few coats so the blinker can still shine through when lit.

I have a WRB WRX and I think they look good in black. I have seen them painted blue but it doesn't look right IMHO.

I want to make the sidemarkers into blinkers and then remove the lens and blinker on these and replace it with a grill. What do you guys think?
cball2211 06-14-2002 04:32 PM

These lights are slowly growing on me.
cball2211 06-14-2002 04:37 PM

I'm still waiting to see one without the reflector though.
Scoobs 06-28-2002 07:47 PM
