Bump, we have been at 9 people for 2 days. The series can take 31.
skuttledude 09-02-2006 08:38 AM

In case people are asking WTH is this bat racer....

"BATracer is a browser webgame similar to some racing manager style webgames. However, it is unique in that gameplay centres around the player as the driver, rather than the team manager. This introduces multiplayer team work as an important part of success."

You are a driver on a race team. You have options on how to setup a car, (suspension, downforce, gearing etc..) and what strategy to use for a race with changing weather conditions.
Every 24 hrs, the game moves to another part of a racing weekend..practice, quali, race. Your sucess depends on how well you setup your car, your driving strategy and of course luck.
A great interface makes the game easy to understand where you can quickly get up to speed. We had a blast in the F1 series that we just finished.
Give this new V8 series a try. It really takes on 5 minutes every day...good way to put some small fun in a work-filled day
Patrick Olsen 09-02-2006 10:41 PM

I just joined up in a Ford - looked like most of the teams thus far were Holdens, and I've always been a Ford man anyway. :)

So what's this rollcenter height thing about?

You dont get any engineer hints for it, but besides that its the same as any other parameter.

Yeah, I picked a Ford as well. Too bad we're not teammates this go 'round. :(
cdvma 09-05-2006 11:54 AM

11 people so far. Any more takers? I think I should start it in the next few days if nobody else joins.

I agree
shemoves 09-05-2006 01:40 PM

I'll join...what team?
shemoves 09-05-2006 01:53 PM

with your 'runs remaining...' is that per race or for the season?
DILLIGAF Racing 09-05-2006 01:55 PM

per session
cdvma 09-05-2006 01:55 PM

Any team (I'd find one with a teammate) and runs remaining is just for that session. Once it goes to warmup you get more runs ect. YOu should always use up what you have.
drees 09-05-2006 02:13 PM

That's just the number of practice sessions remaining, I believe.
drees 09-05-2006 02:14 PM
Any team (I'd find one with a teammate) and runs remaining is just for that session. Once it goes to warmup you get more runs ect. YOu should always use up what you have.
Heh, I would have used all of mine, but I crashed in practice. :D
shemoves 09-07-2006 01:23 AM

Tires (1.1,1.2,1.3)...do I need to keep a set for the race or are all three for practice use?
shemoves 09-07-2006 01:30 AM

argh...can I save a setting under a name to load, say, after a few runs?
cdvma 09-07-2006 09:06 AM

TOMORROW I will start the game. Sound good?
Tires (1.1,1.2,1.3)...do I need to keep a set for the race or are all three for practice use?
Keep a set for the race.
argh...can I save a setting under a name to load, say, after a few runs?
I think KoolTools will let you save a setup and reload it but not individual settings.
SPOOLN 09-07-2006 09:07 AM

Anyone need a slow teamate?
Patrick Olsen 09-07-2006 09:41 AM

Just pick a team that needs a second driver and join up. It's all for fun.
spazegun2213 09-07-2006 10:22 AM

ok, started a team... this should be fun :)
skuttledude 09-07-2006 11:09 AM

cdvma...

yes tomorrow sounds great. Thanks for setting it up.
TOMORROW I will start the game. Sound good
Yay! My first BATracer race!

How many people are using the KoolTools?
SPOOLN 09-08-2006 03:12 AM

Joined up.
cdvma 09-08-2006 09:04 AM

Ok this eve I will start the qualifying, that way the 24 hr schedule will be that the advances are at night giving people the day to do the setups.
SPOOLN 09-08-2006 10:13 AM

Eve= 9pm :D like before
cdvma 09-08-2006 10:32 PM

Ok so I started it at 10:30 EST to give the more western people the eve plus us folks out east not too late so we aren't up too late.
DILLIGAF Racing 09-08-2006 11:00 PM

ugh, I just finished one of my seasons, and think I could have joined this. Oh well.
shemoves 09-18-2006 12:19 PM

dang, during practice/warmup, I can't go more than 55 on data collection without making a mistake...freakin' annoying!
arlia11 09-18-2006 12:29 PM

Thats alright, at least you have been finishing the races? hahaha.
AshyLarry 09-18-2006 01:10 PM

this has been the most not fun series yet, No feedback, every practice run I make a mistake or get the bs over enthusiasm remark. I can't finish a race anywhere but at the bottom. Its really not fun, which is strange because my last aussie V8 was awesome and I didn't have any of these problems.
cdvma 09-18-2006 01:40 PM

Yea it definitely drew a tough randomizer. We are hurting for feedback and even with great setups and low agression still having track issues. Se la vi.
drees 09-18-2006 02:29 PM

Even with it being tough to get feedback, I am having fun in my 1st BATracer race. Now if I could get some good luck instead of bad I could get out of last place. :)

At least my teammate Powers podium'd the last race (Barbagallo Raceway Race 2)! Go Powers!

I'm just happy to have finished the last one.

I think teams with previous V8 Supercars experience should have a big advantage with car setup, especially teams which are good at sharing setup data. Powers and I are getting better at that and I think we should be able to get our team to the top 3 after 5 more races. Go Toll HSV Dealer Team!

cdvma 09-18-2006 02:30 PM

Setup race to race is different so even if you have done the series in the same cars the previous experience won't help.
drees 09-18-2006 02:32 PM
Setup race to race is different so even if you have done the series in the same cars the previous experience won't help.
True, but at least it gives you a starting point besides the engineer's notes.
afpdl 09-19-2006 02:14 AM

Anyone know where Dell has been? Ive been doing ok on my own but if he returned we would be doing great.
cdvma 09-19-2006 10:21 AM
True, but at least it gives you a starting point besides the engineer's notes.
Even still I don't think its much, if any, of an advantage. Once you get used to the setup procedure you can pretty much get 95%+ setups every time.
drees 09-19-2006 01:31 PM
Even still I don't think its much, if any, of an advantage. Once you get used to the setup procedure you can pretty much get 95%+ setups every time.
I see your point. Having a good teammate also helps a big amount if you can work together to share setups... Powers and I are working on that aspect. :)
cdvma 09-19-2006 01:34 PM

Yes, teammates are critical. Sharing data will get you the setups. Without a teammate you are pretty much SOL without a home race.
skuttledude 09-19-2006 01:38 PM

drees and I are going to have an "ultimate comeback" from being low on the points standings. (being wayy optimistic, hehe)

Finally got a win. V8 supercars are pretty fun.
shemoves 09-19-2006 01:57 PM

lost a bunch of runs again...but I was being 'risky'...51
AshyLarry 09-19-2006 02:04 PM
lost a bunch of runs again...but I was being 'risky'...51
Thats rough, I was running 80 with no feedback, bumped to 85 and lost my last 3...
spazegun2213 09-19-2006 02:05 PM
Yes, teammates are critical. Sharing data will get you the setups. Without a teammate you are pretty much SOL without a home race.
yea next time I'm being someones teammate. I'm not doing "bad" but I'm not great either...

And is there supposed to be better feedback? i mean its kind of wishywashy...
drees 09-19-2006 02:10 PM
drees and I are going to have an "ultimate comeback" from being low on the points standings. (being wayy optimistic, hehe)
That's the plan. Our recent secret team management changes will own everyone. ;)

Hey, if anyone is interested in getting into another V8 private game, drop me a PM and I'll send you the details. This is with the guys from corner-carvers.com, which is where I found out about this game initially. This is the 3rd season we're getting ready to start (did 2006 F1 and 2002 F1 so far), so the guys who are signed up are generally dedicated to playing and aren't going to leave you hanging to run by yourself. We've only got 10 people over there so far, would be nice to flesh out the field some more.

Pat

PS - Pat McDaniel is a stinky poophead cheater for punting me off the track on the last lap of Bahrain #2!

:p
arlia11 10-20-2006 10:27 AM

LOLLLLL

we'll see :)
afpdl 10-20-2006 10:54 AM

Im interested if Im garunteed a partner for the full season. Dont know what happened to Mat but he disappered on my pretty early on this time around.
drees 10-20-2006 01:49 PM

I'll join, how many private games can you get going at the same time?

Davis, want to partner up? :)

I'll try to hold back any declarations until we are the champions this time, or at least in the top 3. :)
AshyLarry 10-20-2006 03:16 PM

Are we going to do another one when this is over? Hopefully a F1 2002 / 06 cause this aussie v8 was not enjoyable to say the least.
