pretty cool, I know Subaru of Australia makes a clear cove for protection purposes but I've yet to see them for sale anywhere. I actually mailed a dealership in Australia and they said they could sell me a set but I would have to arrange my own shipping, they would not ship them to me...I might have to pick these up, of course it's too late now, my headlights are all pitted and scratched from the last year of driving, along with all my paint....

^^^ Like mmorningstar said you can try to get a set of the Aussie headlight covers and then smoke them however dark you would want. I actually have a set that I haven't put on yet, I got them in a group buy a little over a year ago I think. I think they were about $70 shipped and got them fron Nino.

Heck of a good question; and I wish I had an answer for you. I know Nino did a few Group Buys on them but started getting frustrated with his source. You might try Nino, I know that he has dropped his vendor status and does not want to do online sales anymore, but he still may have some info that would be helpful. Or you could always try to post in the wanted section.
[emailprotected]
or PM his personal Nasioc account 'jetfan8178'

PS It is bad to hear that he dropped off as a vendor, he was always very helpful for me.

I would try United Motors in Adelaide, South Australia (www.unitedmotors.com.au). Contact Shaun Spargo - he is the Parts manager. His e-mail is [emailprotected] . I purchased headlight covers from him. I made all arrangements via e-mail with Shaun and then I called him with my credit card information (they don't offer on-line ordering).
I hope this helps,
Jeff

Something I'm curious about, could I but the dark smoke and cut them to cover just the top of my bug eyes? Then use the bottom part to smoke my side markers?

^^^not a good idea. I think pre-cut films will be more cleaner.

interesting page from your link.
here is what i do... so i click on your link and a new page comes up. i c some more tiny pics of cars on this page. so to see it clearer i would click on those tiny pics. so i do....... a new page opens up and another TINY pic opens on a corner of this next full page  WHAT THE??? so isnt the point to make the pic a large picture of the original. i c this type of page format all the time. kinda like the hidden speaker in the trunk pics located somewhere in the audio forum. how i dont get the idea of clicking on a small pic to open to a small pic. i would think you want us to see it better right?? or am i wrong?
some are larger but some are not. shouldnt they all be are enlarged?
the reason i bring this up is cause i have a small screen and i am curious of your product but i cant see it and any real enlargement would definitely help me identifiing the product.

I dont know which pics you are clicking. I will agree that some of the pics are not very large, while others are more than big enough. The point is to see it better of course. I am sorry if some of the pics are too small to for that particular application, but I am sure there are others that will work just fine.
Just an example. We will have our 04-05 Light pics up real soon. You can request them to be sent to your email account if you would like.
We also have Smoked Tail Light kits as well for the 04-05 WRX Sedan/Wagon, STi and 2.5RS body's

are those easily removable? since more than likely most law enforcement officers will see that as impeding the light output. and any pics of GT YELLOW?!
| Homerisking | 02-23-2005 01:46 PM |
I just ordered the blue ion ones from hotsubaru--l'll post pics as soon as i get them on. I know that once you take them off, they are not reusable again. Hotsubaru has them right now for $39 bucks and includes free shipping right now. Good deal! I was going to go to stickercity.com (the same ones that easy street motors uses) but they are a lot more expensive.

I looked up my car on your site and it didn't even tell me if the film I was about to but was clear or tented. I also noticed that you don't sell side marker protection. It's not often a rock does the curve ball thing and hits your side marker, I just want them for tenting. I have enough faith, or in this case blind stupidity, to plan and cut side marker tenting out of what I don't want on the head lights. I need to know I'm buying smoked covers though. All this trouble or I could just buy a couple square feet of raw material. What would you suggest?
I've looked around your site some more and just a suggestion, fire your web master. I mean dam, specifics are missing on some products and the whole layout is very cold and fragmented. I'm not trying to piss in your cherrios, just thought I'd offer some constructive criticism.

Check your local DOT. I would highly think none of the colors are street legal. We move fog lights than anything since they arent as noticeable and there are cars with yellow fogs already.

If you have the 04-05 headlights---take a deep breath and zen yourself out, it takes some patience. The film has an adhesive back to them and requires you to spray the headlight and the film with a mixture of warm water and baby shampoo. Make sure you do this on a warm sunny day if at all possible--warm up the headlights by turning them on for a while or use a hairdryer. Warm up the vinyl also with a haridryer to make them nice and pliable. I actually had to order a second set because I had major problems with the first ones. The little buldge on the headlights is a PITA!!! Just take it nice and slow--you should have no problems. I'm quite sure I'm the only newb on these boards that screwed these up the first time. Good luck! :)

I have the gt yellow but I had a hell of a time geting it to stick. Now the fine bubbles have not yet gone away after 1week. What did I do wrong? And can I fix it somehow? It looks cloudy in small arias like the glue is turning white. I purchased these from another vender called hotsubaru.com (a dallas subaru dealer I think) so I got what I payed for. the sevice was fast with free shiping I recieved them in 3 days from the date of my order order from Dallas to L.A. California! I Should have payed somone to install them but the directions were so simple it sounded easy. but it took sooooooo long to do! :(

Ditto ^ if you have 04-05 headlamps--get someone else to do them, I learned the hard way. It's doable, but god it's difficult.
| ThinkGlobal | 03-16-2005 10:44 PM |
Yes they can be interesting to put on. If you had trouble getting them to stick you probably had too much soap in the solution, not enough application pressure or not enough patience. Apply some heat, then hold the stubborn area done till it sticks. I have now put several of these on (mine and a couple friends) and I will say try to use as little water as possible (almost none for the 04 taillights) and a very little amount of soap. The hair dryer is a necessity during the install process, just don't over do it...

Here are some more thoughts on installing the 04 Impreza headlights.
.5 - if you have never done anything like this before warm the material with a hair dryer on low till it is floppy and then remove from the backing paper and wet down - wet down the light too. 'float' it on the light and gently move it around using the tabs - just to get a feel for where it is going to want to go and the overall fit.
1- if you did step .5 use the hair dryer on the adhesive side to remove some of the water first. Spritz some of the water and align the bottom of the light at the point where the round part is for the high beam. Squeegee the corner and then up and over the round high beam bulge.
2- warm the rest of the bulge and work the material from the top down in quarter inch steps - side to side - each half on its own. When you are doing the outer half be sure to plow down into the valley FIRMLY. also be sure the corner you started at doesn't lift up.
3- when the high beam bulge is set move across the bottom of the light to the other side. Do the same at the middle from the high beam to the outside. If you leave a bubble gently lift the cover up and re-try. when you get to the turn signal wart firmly squeegee up the face.
4- the only are left should be the area on the back side of the wart. I started on the inside part. make sure the stuff is nice and warm and soft first. Then, with some violence ;) , jamb the stuff down and hold in place, being sure not to leave a bubble in the deep valley/grove. Leave the last part of the flap. Do the same on the other side and then meet up the two sides of the flap.
5- let it sit for 15 minutes and trim off the handling tabs along with any overhanging areas.
6- go grab one of your favorite beverages - grab a snack while you are at it.
7- grab the digi cam and snaps some pics.
8- post said pics on NASIOC so everybody and admire your handiwork.
Don't worry about small bubbles here and there or general cloudiness in some areas, they are fine. vinyl breathes pretty quickly and in a matter of weeks the lenses will clear up as the water evaporates. The process may take more or less time depending on how much was left behind and how hot/cold dry/humid it is where you are. Parking in the sun helps the process along too. Several times each year be sure to use a high quality (not petroleum based) vinyl conditioner / protectant to make sure they give you a long life.
Any other questions let us know.
Just a side note we are having a St Patty's Day sale, free shipping on everything in stock!!!!!!!!!! Offer expires at 11:59pm so stock up now

Any other questions let us know.

headlight covers

I JUST purchased a set of GT yellow fog light covers from dallas vendor. I was wondering if anyone had any pics of any '04 wrx wagon's with light covers? Specifically blue wagons. Are tail light covers available for wagons? Also, i couldn't find an answer to the question, What do the headlight covers do the brightness of light produced? Meaning, do during night driving, is light output comprimised? Hope to get the fog light covers soon! I'll post some pics when they arrive.
Peace.
Peace.

Yes the light is reduced a little. People still flash me so they must be still bright enough on the low beam.
The high beam is not very affected and is still extreemly bright. This is on a 2004 STI with the the gt yellow by the way.
They have started to clear up more now(after almost 1.5 weeks) since california is back to sunny so maybe I did ok after all on my install. Buy the way I did not use any soap and it still was dificult to stick down on the bottom edge.
You might as well heat them up with a hair dryer then peel them and do a fast dip an stick them down on a lightly wet sprayed headlight that is on and warm to touch because the normal directions It took me 12hrs with holding down spots warming the stuff up and waiting and waiting and waiting till even the next day before the suff finally started to stick down right.
I still have to wonder why there is a small split at the end of the light cover it makes it look cheap if you dont fill it in with more vinyl.

Yes west, time is on your side and they do get better with age. It can take anywhere from a few days, to a month to fully cure - depending on how much water was left behind and you environmental conditions. And yes, installing them dry will make them stick like crazy, but it makes some parts of the install much harder...
As for the split as you call it, it is there because without it the area around the turn signal wart would be impossible to install. Once our kit is properly installed there is no split and 100% of the lens is covered.

The area on each side of the relief cut is the last to be set, you push the material together and viola, the whole thing is covered.
Not quite easy peasy but it is good when it is done.

how much do the light covers reduce light projection?
| chrismik | 03-18-2005 03:42 PM |
For the front headlights, I think I may just cover the amber areas and leave the high beams and low beams clear. It may or may not look good but I guess we'll see.

Our smoke measured 30% on our tint meter. The really dark stuff was~ 18-20% The yellow and blue don't really affect the output though.

Wow, I'm really digging the look of the smoke on the silver car, I'll be ordering the lighter smoke for the heads and tails
