for the GC yes.....theres one 194 bulb and 4 mini bulbs....in the cluster and 2 mini bulbs in the HVAC

and in the old style GC8's(like my 1997 L model)there are SIX 194 size bulbs in the guage cluster and 2 smaller ones in the heater/AC controls, plus one teensie-weensie bulb in the rear defogger switch, which i have convinced myself that its either not hooked up or mine is burnt out, hopefully i can find the number for it somewhere.

No offense but, why even bother placing rubbers (hehehehe) on your bulbs? The 194 bulbs come in different colors if you look for them. Just swap the bulbs. Or you can do what I did. I just bought the indiglo gauges for my car. The guages can be set to 7 different colors and 7 different intensities. They just slip right over the stock ones with no need for further modification. Best part is that they only set me back $25 smackers.

sometimes we just dont want the hwole guage to glow green or blue..its too bright sometimes. or it looks too overdone if you have a painted dash or a few other guages in the car.

also, what are you going to do about the heater controls, do they make indiglo inserts for them? i like how mine all matches up, everyhting is red, including hte radio!

obyone - the whole point is to have different options....if you want people to see what YOU did why don t you post it why do you keep posting it here?
Silicon Covers:
10 bucks for enough silicon covers for all the lights
UPs- easy to install without takin apart the HVAC...
can always reuse again...if the bulbs blow u can still use it again...
color will not fade for a long time....(i had mine in for about 5 months maybe more and no color change)
DOWNs - maybe not as bright as colored bulb....

when i had my celica, i took out all the green covered bulbs and put in blue bulbs, not covers...
with the limited space around the bulbs, and hte time that they are on, heat builds up real fast and the color just wears right out..mine only lasted 2 weeks, if that.
the red is a real neat look in my mind, and id suggest going with the bulb covers if oyu want to change hte color of any light, because from my experience, the colored bulbs just dont hold up, plus they are like $3 a pair, in most cars thats $9, which is cheaper than the covers, untill one or 2 wears out and you have to replace it, where with the covers, you just have to get a .50 bulb to replace if it ever wears out, which i have never seen happen in any car.

on the wrx, if you take off the HVAC covers from the bulbs, the controls will glow a brighter intensity light pink color. some red covers would probably look really good there. that is bad news about the cluster. i'm tempted to get some covers just for the HVAC, though. you can do that install in about 5 minutes.

Can we see some pics of the actual install process...I con't mind takin anything apart in my dash or car, but it's always nice to say " hey, ok here's exactly where they were talking about!" and finished pics are always a bonus...Thanks again

I myself am also trying to find out what type and size bulbs I would need for the WRX radio/AC/heatercontrols/etc.
I currently have indiglo on my cluster, 4autometer
gauges w/blue condoms.

However, don't know the size and or socket type??
Anyone help out? I think LED type colored bulbs would be sweet.;)

Tell me if I'm wrong, but heres what IO picked up after reading the posts. YOu can't really change the WRX guages to red, but you can to the A/C unit and all. What about the radio, On the honda prelude forum, some guy changed his factory unit to red. Do indiglo guages light red? I hate green, and I have to find a way to change them to red. Also none of you guys mentioned the cruise control and window light which are also green.

so for GC 8 if u want to change the bulbs in HVAC you have to take the whole control unit out not just removing the covering face??
