Mach V Dan 08-26-2005 12:43 AM
Mach V used to sell them. But they claim they are "discontinued". Why is it still on their site then?

Whoops, that was a mistake. Both the Veneto and the CS-X3 are in stock.

Just found on Ebay...Squash Air Spencer plus 10 refills-->$49...Dayum! I'd open them all at once!
I use a bag filled with cat litter (the crystals ones). They are desicants, absorb humidity and smell.

Car smells fresh.
Now this is an interesting idea. I like the idea of absorbing/controlling humidity. Maybe I'll try this sometime. As I am not a cat person, I'll have to find somebody with the right type of kitty litter and borrow a cup of that. Maybe I can fill up a small air-permeable cloth bag with the kitty liter and stick it under the front seat.

A box or two of Arm & Hammer baking soda works too.

Make sure to borrow it new.. and not used

True, but if the Arm & Hammer were spill or leak, it would be quite a pain to clean up! Knowing my propensity to spill stuff, cleaning up kitty litter sounds like the better option. But that's just me.

Ha ha! Yeah, that's a given.

ARM & HAMMER Baking Soda Fridge-n-Freezer Odor Absorber (16 oz.)

This hard-working spill-proof box helps keep your food tasting like it should. The removable front and back panels let air flow through the box (without messy spills!) for maximum freshening power in your refrigerator, freezer, or any enclosed space where odors tend to linger (like your microwave and closets!). To keep everything fresh, make sure to change your Fridge-n-Freezer box every 3 months.

Looks like I got a decent deal on mine, considering what the online vendors are charging.

I may try some Arm & Hammer in my car for a bit before the air freshener.
markreda 08-26-2005 11:44 AM

For all the Toronto guys, I heard that the Air Spencer air fresheners are availible at the Pacific Mall in Markham.

When I got my WRX (pre-owned) the first thing I did was put the car in my garage, put the windows down and toss two boxes of Arm & Hammer (I placed one in the front and one in back) to absorb the odors before I bought my cheesy (though smellerific) Air Spencer.
EarlQHan 08-27-2005 11:05 AM

Squash, Giga, or just sticking a Glade Plug-in refill in the vent.
dFunk 08-27-2005 01:11 PM

squash is awesome, wish it lasted longer though.
markreda 08-27-2005 03:42 PM

I just got my Air Spencer Squash at the Pacific Mall (in Toronto) from Formula Import for $9 CDN, and it didn't come in a "casette" type applicator, it came in a small vent mounted applicator.

At first it smelled very soapy.
It smells pretty cool but I think I like the smell of coconut a bit better.
Squash. I got mine at an asian market.
I have this but I think squash smells more like bubblegum than anything else. Get the orange one IMO. But even better get MY SHALDAN citron flavor. I would post pics but I don't have 10 posts yet.
markreda 08-27-2005 09:57 PM

I agree, the smell most resembles bubble gum
+3 for squash...i actually just bought the squash spray off ebay. instead of paying for a $7 refill every few weeks i have a bottle to spray into the car for $16. squash is the JDM-est
this spray thing sucks major balls...you can spray and spray andnever smell anything. $15 wasted. i'd woulda rather buy 2 squash air fresheners instead of the spray.

Yeah, my friend bought that stuff... and it does suck. I even sprayed it onto a piece of paper and nothing! Stay away from that junk!
IronMonkeyL255 09-06-2005 10:56 AM

They accidentally just sent me the refill for the squash instead of the entire unit.
sneeky 09-06-2005 11:09 AM

Dad used to carry a bag of chalk in his car. He was a big sports guy, lots of nasty sweaty clothes in the car, but the car never smelled like it. Just another suggestion for keeping the nasty out... add your choice of AF and i think you're set.

+1 for those tuna can looking air fresheners, California Scents. Theyre cheap, and they last for months. Plus they have a ton of scents to choose from.
My Shaldan smells good but it doesnt last that long...
IntraWRX 09-06-2005 04:02 PM

i got airspencer squash
vipernj 09-06-2005 06:42 PM

Grandmas Cookies is the best air freshener evar
OneArmedScissor 09-06-2005 06:54 PM

air spencer for the win. in japan the auto parts stores have aHUGE section of air fresheners and even aromatherapy for your car :)
wrxdrftr2002 09-07-2005 08:37 AM

although the JDM ones are nice..the ladies always seem to love the yankee candle "midnight summer". it smells good as hell
IronMonkeyL255 09-07-2005 10:35 AM

I may give one of the other airspencer scents a try.

Do they have a green apple?
drivin blind 09-07-2005 11:57 AM

I must be the only one on here that doesn't like the smell of those things. Fresh air only. For the hooker smell, can of tuna ought to do it. Roll up windows and park in the sun.
