Element STI vs. Grand-Am Porsche Video part 2

mchrenen 10-04-2006 11:37 PM
Hello,

Why are so many of these videos posted as "my car versus some cool car or some racecar"? These titles belittle the otherwise often impressive cars and accomplishments that shops create and strive for.

Joel
I don't mind the title - it got my attention and led me to an informative thread. No harm done. BTW nice vid!!!

FYI, that is the Porsche that won the Grand-Am Cup GS Race at VIR last weekend. I guess their testing paid off.

This is not a spoiler. The race wasn't televised, unless you found someone who [illegally] broadcast the entire race on public television with a camcorder.

If you do have it on TIVO, there are a lot of Grand-Am Cup race teams that would LOVE to see this broadcast, including the team I work for...

LOL!

They also slammed one of their cars into the tire wall just after us but somehow the car was back together in 2 hours. Must be the talent, big rig, and power equipement

The fastest dry laps in the GS class I believe was around 2.03 and BGB was in the 2.05 range. I never had a chance to dry lap our car but I'm confident with the Hoosiers we had a 2.02-2.03 as we had quite a bit more power on tap. I think with a real driver our car in it's current state could break the 2.00 mark.

BGB are great guys and helped us out this weekend with whatever we needed.

Thanks,
Phil

That video is a lot of fun to watch, and (for me) educational. Going to your web site and watching Gary's time attack run was also educational - I learned just how much I suck at driving.

 Video is a good way to decrease your suckiness. ;)

I don't mean to threadjack, but, I couldn't think of a better place to put this... the new team I'm working with is campaigning a pair of Nissan 350Zs in Grand Am Cup:

We're working with Car and Driver and Nissan Motorsports to put this effort together, so it's quite an exciting adventure. Feel free to PM/email me for more info or to tell me to go kill myself for straying from Subarus :D
Isn't your center differential fried with the different diametered wheels?
You can do it, just as long as the tire diameters are all the same. I have seen it done in autocross.
