Do you have any close up pics of how the lights are setup/placement, etc?? I think it is a rather dope idea and I am looking into doing some off the wall stuff on my interior as well :)
I'll post some pics that will help you with the install later today.

It's pretty easy, just cut into the iginition power that goes to the radio, tap on to it, etc. Disconnect your battery first or youll blow a fuse or two. Heh. The wires are just long enough to reach everywehere they need to go.

Hey TheWRXStore, you can buy white lights for ultimate non-rice functional use! Or red lights for night time use. etc. I'm glad you like them! They have been fun.
TheWRXStore 05-22-2003 08:32 PM

Nah, if I get em I'll get blue..or green. It's super cool :p
wrxchris77 05-23-2003 08:16 PM

Well I have green ones on my footwells, and I am sooo against rice its ridiculous...but I like having my footwells illuminated, easier to find items on the floors, like tools for when i need to fix something, or my friends domestics or civics...or condoms when my gf wants the wang. Honestly though, its not ricey at all, it goes along with my color scheme i have in my car, blue/green, my pioneer head unit lights up green so it looks good together, and my gauges WERE aqua blue/greenish, but i changed those bulbs out for hyper white ones for some reason. Plus it gives the cabin some lighting that isnt intrusive and im pretty sure all my cars from now on will have some kind of neon light like that ,. until i deem it uneccessary;p
Ibizan 05-23-2003 09:00 PM

ROBOT, just so I understand this correctly, for each foot-well you bought the Blue Cold Cathode Light Kit w/ Dual Capable Boxed Inverter from Best Byte. This comes with one light stick so then you bought an extra stick that is run from the same power source.

Gotta admit that you've inspired me. I know squat about electrical installation but have a buddy who can handle a wire stripper. :)

Any pics you have of the install would be great. Only problem now is that the light kit at Best Byte is on back-order. Can't even order it :(
I ROBOT 05-24-2003 12:36 AM

you are correct ibizan.
i have another inverter that powers my dual UV lights as well.
i just used zip ties to secure them to the various crap thats under the dash. they dont get hot.

Trying to get as much detail as I can so when I hand all this stuff over to my buddy and say "Here you go, ROBOT sends his love.", he'll have a decent chance with the install.

Best Byte alternative
I think this would be a worth substitute since BestByte has their kits on back-order: http://www.case-mod.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=33_39&products_id=268

they say they are out of stock too! DOH!
Well, you can just wait I guess. There are many kinds of lights out there, and I made sure best byte carried Bitspower lights, they are perfect. Other lights can be of lower quality.
I am putting switches in the unused flat panel over my single din radio

I ROBOT, you must continue posting cool mods such as these. Screw all the other forums.

Thanks :)
But I'm spent.

Well, if I come up with anything new, I'll come by and post it. I didn't invent the idea of neons in the car, but I guess I haven't seen anyone post pics of it in here.
I think I'm going to switch to green, we'll see!

Looks great ROBOT...

I love how you got a rise outta these non OT'ers, they think you care about what they tell you. ROBOTS dont care!!!!

and yes I know this whole thread it WTLW
GLwagon 05-24-2003 11:01 AM

 rice... I have a couple 10" blacklights under my dash too. you cant even see it at all unless someone is wearing a light color.
I also have a design that allows the dimming dome light negitive output to turn them on & off. There is also a bypass switch so I can have them on any time.
It is a simple circuit & draws squat.
I thought about puting a couple of tubes under the seats too... never got to it...

You can buy the name brand stuff or just buy the cheep tubes at Target... if they're used inside the car just cut the stupid cigaret lighter plug off & hard wire them... you'll have to figure out the polarity though. If you are going to use the stuff outside the car, buy the good ones...

I don't think it is ricy... if I put my "glow" floor mats in then it would be ricy...
hatake 06-04-2003 09:22 AM

why don't you hook this up with, uh, ignition hole light thingy, that glows when you open the door, dims away when engine gets turned on? Now that is a piece of luxary.

The flash wipes out most of the light but you can still kinda see it. It's really bright!
is that a condomwrapper on the floor?

ack, i should read the whole darn thread before posting!

I actualy like how it looks.
Th3Franz 06-05-2003 01:09 AM

You're funny, Ibizan. I've actually got a 15" blue neon in my Buick. It goes great with my Pioneer head unit with blue lights on it. And, my neon light pulsates to the music! But I don't think you can call a Buick "rice". It's pimp, fo sho. :D
Ibizan 06-05-2003 01:11 AM

I keep checking Best Byte for their blue cathode lights but they're still back-ordered. Customer service isn't a high priority. Never return emails and when you call it's an answering machine. :D

Need Install Advice
I'm hoping someone here with wiring experience can help me out. I'm an electrical noob but what the hell, going to tackle installing the blue cathode lights in the footwell.

Is there a preferable switch style to use? I've found a Cold Cathode Light Kit that allows you to upgrade to a Jam Nut switch or a PCI switch with a Molex Passthrough (see pics):

From what I understand you can't use a molex connector in the car but you can snip it off and splice the red and black wires to a +12VDC source (and thus ends the extent of my electrical knowledge). I'm assuming the next step would be to locate either a constant or switched supply of +12vdc and solder the wires from the light kits into it.

Can anyone let me know if I'm on the right track or on the verge of short-circuiting my electrical system?

I did find a light kit that actually connects to the cigarette lighter but that would look pretty hideous having that thing plugged in all the time.

TIA, cheers.
