Following tonight's shakedown, Tommi attended our WRX owners club meeting, and signed autographs. Pretty cool, but i got the feeling he would rather be elsewhere. We also had the pleasure of having a discussion with Subaru's sporting director George Donaldson. Very cool.

Um, i don't think it works that way... but maybe they wouldn't notice a missing wheel.
Actually i think they'll be auctioning off some stuff after, so i'll keep an eye on it.

That pretty much sums up his entire season so I wouldn't take it personally. :(

Petter and Tommi 1st and 4th after SS1's SuperSpecial. That's a nice way to start off.:)

Nice pics, trev. Wish I could get a nice signed glossy of Tommi; it'd make a nice accompaniment to the signed steering wheel (from the car he destroyed at last year's Rally Argentina) that I won from SWRT.
Enjoy the rally.

rumor is that McCrash may go to NASCAR if citroen gives him the boat

If anything, it will be ASCAR, the Euro version of NASCAR, where Colin already did some trials. Regarding the boat? Hope he likes the make and model:lol:

...bah ill get flamed but whatever, tommi is an arrogant bastard who was a good idea for Subaru at one point to hire, seeing his season career so far, well, hes worthless.
Im just hopin that by next year Solberg and who knows maybe Richard Burns will be the 2 racing under the new FIA rules.

SS2 - Petter is second, just 1.1 seconds off the lead (Gronholm).
| trev555 | 09-04-2003 10:09 PM |
SS3 - Solberg 2nd (10.8 secs down)
Makinen 6th (27.7 secs down)
If Solberg can stay in touch with the lead today, he has an excellent chance for a placing.

I was just listening to rally radio, and they had petter solberg interviewing marcus gronholm live.
PETTER: Are you going to slow down? Maybe you could hang your balls out the window.

Was this interview before or after Marcus put his Pug into that ditch for 15 minutes?
Between that and his comments about Burns before their German duel, Petter's getting good at this mindgame thing.

I think Solberg can overtake Loeb given enough time, he's sitting in very good shape right now. I don't know if Makinen can hold off Martin though.
| Dussander | 09-05-2003 01:35 PM |
You have to admit, it is pretty amazing Loeb is doing so well. I expect as much from Petter, but if Loeb, who is bad ass on tarmac, can also kick ass on the loose stuff, he may be might vote for Champ in 2004.

Its back on!!!! Petter looks like he has gone pretty quick in the day opener, 1.2sec quicker than Loeb, so the lead is now down to 2.7!!!!!!
| enkd | 09-06-2003 03:52 AM |
Damn this one is close... closest attention I've ever payed to a WRC event.
after SS17, stil Loeb by 3.0 seconds. These two are running REALLY hard. c'mon Petter.
(I feel a little bad, though not too much, for Marcus... I sent in my "podum prediction" to WRC radio last night [Solberg, Loeb, Burns], along with a "Sorry, Marcus". Then he dropped the Pug in the ditch 15 minutes later... ah well, he's won Australia 3 times in a row, you can't win 'em all...)

What a fight between Solberg and Loeb....Loeb is still in the lead with a couple of stages to go for the day!!!
| jaybird | 09-06-2003 09:14 AM |
7 stage wins a piece! what a battle! Leob by 5 seconds. Looks like Burns will take third and keep his lead in the series without winning an event.
Make it 9 Solberg 7 Loeb. Loeb ahead by 5.

:o Martin was just excluded for using a rock to wedge his spare into the trunk when the strap broke.
The officials called it an illegal attempt to affect weight distribution in the car!?!:alien: :disco:

Heavy rock can become dangerous projectile if there was an accident. They may have just needed to use that rule in order to call him on that.
| fenix | 09-07-2003 12:16 AM |
can petter exceed leob in the last 2 stages like he did with Burns?

Speed coverage?

According to their website, Speed should be covering the Rally tonite, but it's not showing up on their on-line sked (DirecTV). Anyone know for sure when they're going to air this one? Don't want to miss this barnburner.
| Brady | 09-07-2003 01:10 AM |
it appears he may have done it. one more stage to go. we will see.

Whew! Solberg retained his lead, wins the rally and moves into a tie for 2nd in Championship points!
What was with the wrc.com radio announcers? Their "live" calls didn't match the split times shown on wrc.com...
Anyway, congratulations to Petter on an exciting rally!

I loved listening to the SSS's between Loeb and Petter this AM.
Way to go Petter! You pulled off another!
Carlos Sainz's old co-driver, Luis Moya, is taking a job with Subaru next year also I just read.

Hmm, the announcers were claiming victory for Loeb, saying that he had taken the lead from Solberg based on the splits and won the rally, before backtracking when the final times came in...
Oh well...

| shrieden | 09-07-2003 02:14 AM |
the weather is the reason. between the last split and the finish it was apparently real bad. Much worse than when CMR went through. Seb and Petter both had to go through the bad stuff
| ha-evolution | 09-07-2003 03:47 AM |
Yeah Petter! Next year should be awesome for Subaru with Burns and Solberg.
| WagonMonster | 09-07-2003 10:36 AM |
With this win Petter is tied with Sainz for 2nd in season points!!!
There is a chance he could win everything this year!!!

Solberg and Subaru defiantly have some momentum right now. Burns might not be able to kick it up a notch if Solberg or Sainz can catch up in the next few rallys.

Class act. Solberg is over congratulating Loeb before Loeb gets out of the car. Solberg is estatic. I'm happy for him and Subaru.

The real test would be if Petter would have been congratulating Loeb if Loeb came in 1st and Solberg took 2nd. I suspect he would have.
