Thank you for your comments. At this time, we are currently in negotiations regarding some of the favorite shows on Speedvision. I will notify our programming department of your desire to see this show back in 2002.
Thanks for watching Speedvision!

**Question Number Two: How long will both program's be? Question Number Three: Will you expand coverage's for both next year?
Say an hour and a half (maybe two hours?) the WRC and a hour (maybe an hour and a half?) for the SCCA ProRally.
I hate NASCAR
So if I said that "I hated F1" would it be o.k. for me to run to Speedvision and tell them to cancel it? I don't think so.
I would much rather see more shows about any form of racing than to see them fill dead air with more infomercials.
TNN covers NASCAR don't they?
No they don't.
Thankfully they quit subjecting me to their lousy commentators.:)

The last I heard was that they were keeping F1 because it doesn't conflict with their expected Nascar programming. Most non-enlightened viewers can't say they hate F1 because they never see it due to the live coverage.
BTW, i think that Motorsport Mundial is one of the best shows on SV because you get to see the hot European tuner cars and they really thrash those cars around. One show I would love to see added (another European show) BBC's Top Gear. If you're not familiar, get on Morpheus/Limewire etc. and do a search for Top Gear. There's even a Evo 7 v. STi.
Also, what will happen to our favorite British + American Commentators? Are they staying, being fired, or jumping ship? They still show the SV ads that herald the diversity of the channel...

I'd personally like to see more observed trials and rally and less boat and airplane stuff. If NASCAR replaces the boat and airplane shows then good, as long as we still have prorally and WRC. I'm sure I'm in the minute minority in liking trials, but I think its much more entertaining to watch than most high speed road racing. I have no use for drag racing events, though I would rather see that than reruns of the fresh prince of bel-air. How about an import hot rodding show done by sport compact car? How about coverage of national level autocross events? Maybe Fox will bring in some $$ to do some interesting shows like that.
| ImprezaMan | 11-04-2001 08:29 PM |
Formula 1, WRC, Speedvision Touring Car Cup these are my favorite things to watch. Definatley hate NASCAR. It's already on FOX and TNN why do they need another channel of this crap. I can't believe NASCAR is the fastest growing sport in the USA. why?

yea i totally agree

New channel for Nascar needed
I despise Nascar as most of us do. They should come out with a channel specifically for Nascar. They could have the Motor Millions Infomercials and all the lame car finish informercials on when there isn't any racing going on. I am sure more Nascar watchers watch the informercials anyway. Then speedvision can remove the infomercials and show more rally racing!

 not to be mean or anything, but screw the possiblilities, subaru is not a NASCAR type car, it could compete, performance wise, maybe, but somethings you just need to stay away from, so lose the idea kart.

Subaru would be better suited to dirt trackin', no? I mean, if you're gonna turn left for the whole race, you might as well be drifting half of the time.:) OH CRAP! Don't let this idea out of this thread or somebody might mount a midget car wing on a WRX.

Yes,
They did send a reply to me. I put there reply in this tread it's just a little further down.
They basically said that they where in talk's for next year's programing and beyond. I don't know if it's a satndard reply that they have sent to other people or not.
I've been planning to send them a follow on reply. But I just haven't got around to it yet.

I hate NASCAR as much as the next guy, but you guys have to admit that Speedvision sucks now. Seriously. LAWNMOWER Racing?!?! Boat and Air shows?!? Soloflex infomercials?!?! There are some great shows on there as well, but some are of questionable merit (ie the Audi and Subaru Informercials, I mean "product showcases"). I do love the Touring, GT, Rally and GRAND AM coverage, but there big holes to be filled now.

feeder series
Some NASCAR is okay with me, I'd rather watch racing where you turn both ways though.
What really scares me is if Speed------- starts to broadcast all the feeder series like Busch,ARCA,Craftsman Truck Series and bumps the good stuff off the air. There's enough room in the schedule that we should still get the good shows with just NASCAR on but add the rest of the excrement and it could kill it.

i truly hope speedvision doesn't go down the tubes...WRC is by far one of my fav's (d'uh!) and i can't remember how many times i've watched the history of Porsche...many...too too many...
besides, those of you w/ digital cable can attest to flipping channels, and at least 3 channels run NASCAR 24/7! there's no reason to go mucking up SV to run that crap. speedvision is the greatest channel ever created...i'm sad to see it crumble :(
:monkey: nascar...

Woo-Hoo Nascar!!
What mods do we need to put the WRX onto the big oval track? Let's get out there and show NASCAR how to race for real. Don't forget we can shortcut through the infield with our AWD.

ok, now i'm in on the mix.......yeah, this news truly does suck. I had no idea about it either. Oh well.....you know what though? i don't blame Fox THAT much.......i mean, they are a business, they want to make money. Honestly though, and not to step on any toes........but i blame the NASCAR fans........HOW can anyone possibly find that interesting? I mean, god......that's not even close to real racing. I equate it to go kart racing i guess. Anyway, ugh......nuff said

can you imagine what the Cusco GT300 car would do to nascars? :D
of course, then pontiac, doge, ford, and chevy would complain that "it's not fair, that's not a stock car............"
why the hell do they call it stock car racing when it's a tube frame, 2 door, v8, rwd version of a car, that for the most part, comes stock as a FWD V6 sedan? It's only slightly better witht he non-fords
have you ever watched nascars on a road course?
pretty entertining, until you realize that a car like alex's could probably be competitive with them (not bashing alex, just that a stock car with engine and suspension work........)

Someone's mention of the Top Gear show made me think. (Wow!) I would really like to see that show on SpeedVision (or Speed, whatever).
In place of a lot of the late night infomercial junk, I would like to se other automotive shows from across the world. There has to be a few Asian shows that would be entertaining, even if I can't understand them. I would much rather watch that than an infomercial about another teflon additive that 'raises gas mileage by pi!'
I would say the one hour review of the rally is pretty good, although I would extend it to cover the other classes, and show more of the short special stages that are setup for great viewing. The jumps in australia were spectacular.
And please return legends of motorsports to a normal viewing time, I would prefer that over the muscle car shows (mostly because they are rerun so much, it is annoying).

did you guys see the DTM touring car race the other night..
that was awesome..
going to record it this saturday for future veiwing..
if you consider how archaic nascars are, they are pretty fast for what they are, i mean how much mroe can you ask from a pushrod eight in a 3500lb tank.. with about the same aerodynamics..
what i really hate about it, is they run old technology, and then place limits on that.. and that does not inspire technical evolution.. such as, F1 cars.. even rally racing pushes technology more that nascar, and its not even near as mainstream, at least in the eyes of this country..

For those of you wondering about Speedvision Raceweek. It look's like it's on Monday's now.
From Zap2itdotcom listing for it. My cable box guide say's that it's Motorvision.
But they update it and change it all the time.

paid programming
I caught part of "NASCAR Tech" the other day. It was really kinda funny learning about how much those cars get painted. Woohoo! The way that I figure it, anything that displaces all of the paid programming is a plus. I watch TV late at night, and would rather watch anything...that's right ANYTHING other than paid programming. Bring on the NASCAR Tech! Bring on the boat shows!

My favorite motorsports are WRC and F1, but I also like touring car racing, motocross, and God-forbid NASCAR(within reason). I actually thought it was strange that the network was called Speedvision and the biggest series in the US (NASCAR) wasn't covered.
Believe me, I don't want 24-7 NASCAR coverage, but I can live with one night a week dedicated to it, like how Tuesday night is all about motorcycles. I'll also be happy if they get rid of all those boat and airplane shows.
BTW, the Australian touring car racing is called Super V-8 (I think). I'd also like to see Top Gear.
