I got this little tuna can looking thing from Home Depot...can't remember the name but its some air freshener to cover up animal smells....had it in my car for months now and it still is ridiculously strong...I'll get the name next time I go out to my car...its really the most powerful thing I've ever seen in my life.
| markadopolus | 08-21-2005 07:35 PM |
^^^Yeah. I tried those before. They are pretty strong, but so is the Squash I posted above. Let me put it this way. My buddy was driving in front of me with his catless exhaust. (you know how bad catless smells) Then he held the squash air freshener out the window and all I could smell was squash while driving behind him.

02 WRX sedan
04 Jeep Rubicon (other jeepers are like *** is that? Part of the stereo???.......Oooo, smells nice!)
05 STI
Good stuff

hehehe, it's "My Shaldan" ;) . google search=http://www.kopren.co.yu/myshaldan/myshaldan.htm
I ordered the "Tiny Ball" and "Piassh" ones and a squash "spray" a while ago. I wasn't too impressed by any of them. Maybe the ones I got were from a bad shipment or something. The bead type air fresheners were noticeable for a few days then faded quickly. The spray is nothing like Febreeze. I think Febreeze has a finer mist where as the squash spray scent just saturated my interior, I couldn't even smell it.
I was using the California Scents "Cool Gel" in Laguna Breeze for a while, those last about a month to a month and a half. http://www.californiascents.com/automotive_coolGel.htm

i can't think of the name of the brand...but i use a coconut spray that is available at every automotive store imaginable.
i also own one of the sharper image Ionic Breeze air fresheners, which does a great job of making your car smell like...well...i think the best way to describe it would be the smell of a freshly opened video game or dvd case. kinda like hot-off-the-assembly line plastic new. good little gadget tho.

The California scents are pretty good. Look like a tuna can w/ 2 brown spongy things inside. Last a long time, though some can be a bit overpowering for the first few days. They aren't in the auto section, at least at my local Wallyworld. They are usually hidden by the Glade plugins and aerosol sprays.

time ago, I had a VW Golf. At one point I had about 150 green apple trees in the trunk. There was a guy who always came to the carwash and sold the trees. So after a friends blew THUNKS in my car, I figured it could never smell too good. We opened ALL of them and just let the car GO !!!
WOW, we finished 3rd in a car show and got special award forbest smelling car. LOL..  :disco:
When I sold that car 5 years later it still smelled like green apple.

I just ordered one of these off of eBay. $17 shipped. A bit expensive for an air freshener, but if it smells half as good as people are saying......
Can't find that kind of stuff on the east coast (or at least not in SC...).
I like that is looks like it belongs in a car. Not tacky like most american air fresheners I have seen.
Before I had a Yankee Candle Company clean linen air freshener in mine. It smelled fresh without smelling too powerfully sweet.

17$ is a bit steep! i pay 7$ from a local store for these. the only complaint i have about these is that they run out very very quickly if your windows are open.

On another note, where does everybody install their air fresheners? hanging, cans, cartridges... I've been hanging my pine-scented hanging air freshener in the back of my wagon, but I'd rather have it closer to the front and out of the way, if possible.

I've tried that.
My car is 15 years old. It has scents that just won't go away (like deteriorating plastic and seat foam).
As I said, I know it's a bit steep, but you can't find it around here. Besides, the refills aren't that unreasonable and I barely ever leave my windows open.
