For what it's worth, I did also write emails to a couple of WRC's primary sponsors and participants asking them to consider supporting Altitude and RaceCentral by advertising, etc., in the hopes that big support = big money = big results for RaceCentral.
That's awesome man. Thanks!

In their defense they went from being a small program with smallish internet demands to getting HAMMERED by all us crazy rabid rally fans.

Yup. The only thing I can say detrimentally about this is that these guys should have expected this kind of response if they'd done any research on how much interest there is in rally in this market. On the other hand, hopefully this will translate into equal demand for their shows during the rally coverage. :)

Considering the other troubled past and legacy that WRC on TV has here in the US I don't know how they could have anticipated it any differently.
Remember Speed claimed they practically couldn't pay people to watch it. And it was going on two years with no TV for WRC in the US. The best we can hope for is that people support the show and they end up being able to get the revenues sufficent enough to expand the coverage and or the website's capabilities; they are working in overdrive to be able to do it, that is for sure.

Okay, question... the site hasn't been updated since 3/8/07. No new TV episodes, no sign of WRC coverage. What's up?

Not sure what's going on with the website but the Mexico show aired last week. Wouldn't say it went off with out a hitch but it was a good first attempt. Mixed up a couple of driver names and the back ground music was a little intrusive. Some changes are in the making for Portugal and the program will probably keep evolving.

Just got a reply from Race Central TV:
"WRC this week is, as they are off, the "Smack Down" magazine segment and it will be a bit longer then usual"
Cool, and I wasn't even going to watch it this week!

Yep, WRC is on the Race Central TV show. I think that it is at 5:30 PM your time today. It will be on at 7:30 PM on the eastern time zone.
Oops. Fixed it. The streaming problem is because of all the traffic. They are working on it. Pod Casts might work better.
Interestingly, someone wrote about the new WRC TV deal on the SpeedTV Website and the thread was immediately locked down. Sore losers?
Maybe they'll just show another episode of PINKS, or another 30yr old movie...OH BOY!

WRC Argentina coverage was the best yet today on Race Central TV. Spent almost the whole show on day two before Solberg broke, again. No crazy music and the Brit commentators were back. Next week they are going to do twenty minutes of post Rally interviews. The show will be on again at 10 PM Pacific tonight and right between the Hooters Cup and Motocross World Championship on Saturday. Should be around 4 PM Eastern/ 1 PM Pacific. Depends on wether the Hooters Cup goes long since that is live.

Are they posting it on the website at all? The last show I see there is March 8. At this rate, torrents are pretty enticing.

I think if all you want to do is watch it on the internet you are better off with the torrents. I just like watching it on my big TV.
What I have noticed in the past is that the streaming on Race Central TV's web site get's updated about a day after each show and then revert's back to the March 8th show after about 5 days. Why, I don't know?

Another possibility to the level of success they are seeing is that car culture is growing in America and becoming more sophisticated. Altitude being a Rockies based sports channel probably covers extreme sports regularly. If I remember correctly from snowboard trips to Colorado, they show lots of snowboarding/freestyle skiing, mountain biking, etc videos and event coverage). I think this demographic has really embraced car culture (Ken Block can attest to that) and it took a while for advertisers to catch on.
It takes no more than a trip to a local skate park to see how these interests go hand in hand. Not only is any decent skate park the area of highest concentration in most municipal parks that offer them (to an embarrassing extent when you compare them to the football, baseball, etc. fields which see very little traffic aside from league play) but if you look at the cars in the parking lot you will see that a lot of them are grassroots automotive enthusiasts as well as skateboarders. Skateboarding is not something that young adults stop doing anymore. Sure, like every sport, after high school many stop physical activity and start their drinking careers. However, the amount of people that will continue to skateboard into their adult lives is becoming a significant market. Also, those sports attract a person with a similar desire for adrenaline that motor sports offers. Rally is getting more popular in America and I submit that a lot of that success has a relationship to the popularity of extreme sports and the increased coverage associated with extreme sports.

I'd love to watch it on my TV. Someone convince Bell ExpressVu to carry RaceCentral and it's a done deal. Neither RaceCentral nor Altitude exist on Canadian satellite television.

SOooo I was under the impression that ESPN2s coverage of the Rally America series was to start tomorrow (the 11th) but when I checked the cable guide on the TV it doesn't show any listing....
Anyone know when they are really broadcasting the Rally America coverage??

meh, i watched it last thursday. it wasnt anything special. the show was broken up into 3 segments of about 6 minutes. first one was F1. then the next two were WRC. mostly just showed the cars going through a couple stages at different points in the stage. no voices from the altitude channel or whoever the hell recorded/edited the video. all car noises.(which would kick ass if you had a surround sound and all that jazz) there were one or two interviews with the drivers. the only real complaint i have is they need to seriously cut out the advertisements in the middle of the programming. i mean every 2 minutes there would be like an ad that took up 1/3 of the screen for probably 15 seconds. same ad too. overall though, i enjoyed finally seeing WRC on TV. now if it was available to everyone outside the rockies....
