Talk about realistic graphics.

Hopefully they will have improved the sound. No game has it right.
XenoWolf 02-08-2007 10:05 PM

Cool. The Swift almost looks like Sprongl's.... on crack.
Protege Menace 02-08-2007 10:11 PM

i was so dissapointed in cmr05 for PC that i never played more than 2 stages before selling the game on ebay.

the sounds were so BAD compared to CMR03 on PS2. jerky wheel inputs made it unplayable.

I prob wont ever buy a PC version of a game like this again :(
FaastLegacy 02-09-2007 01:21 AM

That looks like Pastrana's car in one of those screens....
estefania_rous 02-09-2007 03:41 AM

wow! that's awesome... :disco:

It is. They've licensed the rights to our names and likenesses for use in the game.
Jay911 02-09-2007 03:55 AM

Nice pics. What platform? Never mind - I see you say PC.

Pic #7 looks like they are (again) trying to replicate Climb Dance in the game.
sigurd 02-09-2007 08:05 AM

Yeah im going to give it a chance because the graphics look so good.

Just seems some games forget there are many other important things then graphics when making a rally game or the like.

To this date Richard Burns rally is my favorite rally game. While the graphics are beaten by games like x-pand rally and others the car physics and the sounds are ten times better. Its the first rally game I accually found hard and had to practice for half a day or so to get it down enough to even race.

I have been let down by the last few Colin games but hopefully there going to get back on the right track. well see.

Wow that looks pretty cool
StuBeck 02-09-2007 09:50 AM

The phsyics aren't going to be anywhere near close though, so its going to be a dissapointment.

Yeah but there's always hope. Although I bet your right. Never have been right in colin games. They try to keep it more a arcade game.

I feel Richard Burns is more a Gran Turismo of rally games. And Colin McRae is more the Need for speed.
Kyguy 02-09-2007 02:25 PM

You can give CMR 100% throttle input and it'll drive on the road. If you give richard burns 100% throttle, you won't get around the first turn :D

Maybe they'll make this one harder!
runnah 02-09-2007 02:57 PM

But Gran Tourismo has HORRIBLE physics.

There will never be a fully realistic rally game because it wouldn't sell worth beans. Yeah all us hardcores would be in second heaven but it wouldn't appeal to the casual user.

Thats why a good developer will try to find a happy medium.

Yes your right. Thats why Richard Burns didnt go over well to all people. Most found it way to hard. But us hardcores thought it was finnally hard enough.
CirrusWRX 02-10-2007 10:51 AM

Noice!

RBR is actually realistic. Gran Turismo isn't at all.

It looks like they're releaseing it on the PS3 and 360 too.
RBR is actually realistic. Gran Turismo isn't at all.
I'll second that. I just won rally GB last night in fact... by one second. It was sweet. :) Best.... rally game..... evar.

The Colin McRae series has gone downhill since 2, so I have low expectations for this game. The graphics for Dirt do look pretty sweet, but I hope there's a good physics engine behind it so it's not just eye candy. Let's hope with the "next gen" consoles it won't catch consolitis....

heh everyone is misunderstanding what I ment in that analogy.

I ment Richard Burns Rally's physics are like Gran Turismo's Tarmac or non-rally racing physics.

I agree that the rally aspect of Gran Turismo sucks but the rest of the game was closer than anything else. Always has been.

Niiice, Bob Burnquist look. Hopefully they improve the feel of the car on asphalt. That's where Rallisport Challenge shined. This extra graphics boost should make this the best rally game yet. And you even get to race some dakar vehicles! Awesome.
nocomedown 02-10-2007 09:24 PM

Those graphics are incredible. I remember playing CM05 a couple years ago and it was very entertaining (albeit not always so accurate). I'll be looking forward to this one.
Bonzo 02-11-2007 11:53 AM

very nice eye candy or in the real world major hardware hog.

RBR physics are been pretty much bonafide from the general opinion in the sim world.

If CM can come close...
sigurd 02-11-2007 12:59 PM

yeah im wondering about hardware reqs on the game aswell.

Im an avid overclocker and I run an evga 7600gt overclocked to 610-830 on a Zalman vf-900 cooler. the brain being an AMD 3200 overclocked to 3700mhz on an Freezer 64pro. Hopefully I will still be able to max it out.

All racing games to date I can max out fine but if they keep getting better I will soon be in need of a gfx card upgrade.

or I might just have to volt mod the 7600 and get the core speed to 700 :D
jrskeen 02-11-2007 01:12 PM

nics pics. i am burning through CMR05 right now, and find it greatly exciting. I think the sound is off, I am not a huge fan of how you can only upgrade parts of the car 1 level. I am almost done with career mode. Its taking a little while, but I enjoy it a lot more than the NFS series. I run on bumper cam when I play because it makes the steering wheel I have more realistic. I was surprised to see that even at just a mere 80mph it still seemed like I was going just as fast as the 150mph I could do in NFS Carbon. I am hooked, and cant wait for CMR-Dirt.
Cool to see Pastrana and Edstrom likeness in the game. I want a set of those glasses. I have been wanting to drop a set of clear prescription lenses into fames like those...but its hella expensive.

It's not that expensive if you know the right people - my glasses were done by Bret Hunter at SportsOptical.com, and they are by far the most amazing prescription sunglasses I've ever had. I have both 15% gray lenses (pictured) and some darker gray lenses as well. They visual clarity is awesome, and I can't recommend them highly enough. Give Bret a call and tell him I sent you.

I belive its for 360 and ps3 aswell.:)
davis10 02-12-2007 08:06 PM

I like RBR, its harder then colin for sure
Subaru_555 02-12-2007 09:40 PM
I like RBR, its harder then colin for sure
Ya RBR is a bunch harder. I can jazz it up nearly first try on expert with the onboard view and gear changing. Damage is wicked on CMR games. But why play the game when you can actually rally:lol: Just need to finish up this ****ty engineering hell.
