Sti Gauge CLuster install for an 06 WRX
I was just wondering. I did the color change mod to my gauge cluster and it looks great! but just not bright enought for me. Has any try'd or has done a gauge cluster swap for a 06 wrx to an sti gauge cluster??? Will it even work??

Also i try'd the search thingy like 100 times and I can't seem to find it. There was a thread with some guy that took a gauge cluster completly apart tach's and all to replace the green film on the hub screen with some red polorized film. Dose any one have that link by chance?????????????/

Thanks.

You need to get the 2006 STi cluster to do it. The harness plugs and wire pin outs are differant.
JMax5k 06-26-2006 05:38 PM

icic.. is there any where i can find the data sheet or some thing for the pins outs on the both clusters???
06STi 06-26-2006 05:55 PM

I got them .... I tried it. Was not worth the hassle You have to move 3/4 of the wires. Plus find the right plugs... Its just not worth it. You can get a 06 STi cluster for $500

Do you think i can get a copy of it?? Only reason why i am going to put an affort into this is bcuz i can get a cluster for free!! So when it comes down to it when i do it and get it done the hassle will be more worth its since the cluster was free..

is this the same with 04 swap. tried it today and my intaller ran into difficutly even thought its an 04 sti on and my car is 04 wrx i thought it was plug and play
06STi 06-26-2006 06:40 PM

I do not recomend it. You run the risk of biting your ECU. I'll have to look to see if I can still find it.

If you get it for free the re-sale it and pay the difference, seem to be the easier/safer choice.

Do a search here. You'll get your awnsers. Change techs working on your car.

it is the same year. i'm ask'n for 06 wrx swap with 06 sti gauge cluster how-to. I can get the 06 sti cluster for free i just don't how to install it. **all the wire changes**
Okita Souji 06-27-2006 05:07 PM

You need to get the wiring diagrams for both the 06 STi and the 06 WRX. Once you have that, you can see what wires need to be moved where and how many.

If the 06 WRX is anything like the 05 WRX in terms of wiring, you may be better off getting an 04 STi cluster like I did. The wiring between the 04 STi and 05 WRX was fairly similar. The 05 STi cluster however had wires moved around which made it harder to put into a WRX.
bluecamel04 06-28-2006 09:55 AM

Any link do you have for instructions for a 04 wrx and 04 sti cluster having probelms with mine

From my understanding the 05 to 05 is an easier install than changing years. Can you post up the diagrams?
JMax5k 06-28-2006 05:37 PM

Yes if some one can get a link or a scaned copy of the wiring dia. that'll be great!

yeah you just unscrew the housing unclip the the harness and replace. If you want you can use electical tape to cover the rear diff light and the ic tank light. 04s are 100% plug and play so no need for a tech to even touch it. Their were some long threads about this but i don't remember where.
06STi 06-30-2006 09:40 PM

For step by step run down. 04 STI into 04 WRX

semaj 09-15-2006 06:00 PM

The rear diff temp light will stay on until you ground the wire for the sensor. The DIY is on scoobymods.com :D

yah but seems like these intructions not working on putting in a 04, of my understanding the 02-03 is different

Isn't the buzzing noise from the shift warning? Maybe try reseting the RPM that the shift warning buzzer comes on at?
