JDM mid-spoiler, available in WRB, Silver, Black, and White. I got mine from Brian @ FIZZ Autosports. Lot of $$$, but he can get you the real deal.

i wish someone would make these here in the u.s. nobody has one in stock. and $600 is beyond rediculous for a simple spoiler.

well considering i have the jdm v8 grill, jdm visors, jdm wagon lip, jdm fog lights....i know what you mean lol. just seems someone would make one of these here and sell it for half price, still making a big profit:)
| SubaruGenuineParts | 10-05-2005 05:21 PM |
YEAH BUT
replica's... = quality is never as good as genuine
and to make any $$ on it - especially with fiberglass molds
they'd need to presell about 30 of them - at still around $250-300 each I would bet
just not an item that's going to be easily had i'm afraid....

which is why im sure i'll end up paying $600 for one anyways!:( darn jdm goodness.
| animes2k | 10-05-2005 05:29 PM |
Well, that's $600 painted. Even if you got it for $300 as a knock-off I'm sure it'd be unpainted. Add $150-$200 for painting (how good of a job at that?) and... Might as well get the original.

my point is, it would be nice to be able to get one HERE! as in, not waiting 2 months. i've waited for parts from japan for 3 1/2 months, so it doesnt bother me a whole lot. i just know other wagon owners that wont spend that much or wait that long.

That would be me. I got my EDM/JDM mid wing from someone here on the boards. He was able to get it shipped to me for $525(new and painted) from England. I had to wait almost a month to receive. Everyone is right, though. You can get it on Japanparts.com. I ordered my front wagon lip from them. They're very quick w/ the shipping too. I think it's well worth the wait...and $$$. I know there is a Candian version mid-wing, but it doesn't look as good as the EDM/JDM. The Canadian version looks like a potato wedge and lacks the aggressiveness seen on the JDM. Check it out...here's a pic of my wagon. I also have the EDM/JDM rear underspoiler too.

Hi, I love the JDM factory kit for the wagons.!!! :) Your wagon looks great, but I just have one concern though, and that's the bug deflector on your hood. If you have a TMIC, aren't worried about air not getting in the scoop to cool the TMIC off?

I've checked into the Canadian one (I actually like it better, blends better IMO) but it appears they aren't made anymore. Someone is checking w/ another Canadian dealership to verify.

I have had that question before and honestly, I have not had it on long enough to be able to tell the difference.
That being said, and me being a newbie, how would I know if there is a difference?
Any thoughts from anybody regarding aerodynamics and air flow would be greatly appreciated because cosmetics are much less important than proper function.

I bought one for my 02 last year Painted, shipped for well under $350. It looks nothing like those pictured. I know I posted the link on clubwrx.net last year. I'll have to go back in my email account to find the exact link...It was not fun to put on though. Every place wanted to charge me like 3 hours of labor to put it on, so I did it myself...I should have just paid the money because I screwed up the template by about a 1/4inch..DOH!!! only I can really tell the difference

They didn't make a deflector for the 02-03 WRX. There is one for the 04-05 and it has the center part cut down to allow air to the intercooler. I wouldn't keep that deflector on your car. It'll prevent your intercooler from working efficiently, if at all, and you may get pinging on hot days.

Aerodynamically speaking, the bug deflector will create a small negative pressure front directly behind it that will travel along the hood in a straight line until it equalizes.
What does this mean in practical purposes? At low speeds, absolutely nothing, the negative pressure front will dissipate long before it gets to your intercooler. At high speeds, the pocket of negative pressure will grow longer. At given the shortness of the distance from the deflector to the scoop, there's a good chance that at highway speeds you could significantly cut down on your air flow (but this depends on all kind of variable that you would need a wind tunnel to study).
I'd say ditch the deflector or go FMIC. The deflector cannot help performance-wise, period. It makes your car have a bigger profile and also creates a drag zone across your hood and could interfere with proper IC operation at high speed. Get some Rockblocker and spray cooking spray on it. :)
On the other hand, if you don't ever drive it like you stole it and you do a lot of cruising at highway speeds, odds are you'd never notice a difference and it wouldn't really adversely affect you.
As for those spoilers. Very cool. I dig them. Doesn't seem like they'd do much performance-wise though since they'd only be catching some of the air that the top mount spoiler throws down. I wonder how much downforce they produce? I do like the underbody though, they don't really jump out and kill the stealth value of the wagon.
