WRX sedan front fenders on a wagon; possible?
I'm thinking more of the MY2002 Imprezas...

Would it be possible to rip the flared front fenders off of the WRX sedan, and slap it on a WRX wagon? Wouldn't it give it more of an agressive, edgy look?

I'm guessing there are a hundred different reasons not to do this, like, money and parts not fitting, etc. But, has anyone been sucessful? Am I crazy?
MikalsWRX 10-09-2004 09:40 AM

Its been done plenty of times. Heres Mine. YOu just need to get the fenders and the bumper. Everything bolts right on. Below mine is one withe the front and rear fenders. Good luck. Mikal

Sweet, keep the pics coming folks!

You say the bumper needs to be replaced as well?
MikalsWRX 10-09-2004 09:48 AM

Yeah the sedan bumper is wider then the wagon bumper. But Everything just bolts right on. Heres another one. Mikal

Do I dare ask how much it would cost, assuming I bought the parts brand new?
AugustusMaximus 10-09-2004 10:27 AM

conversion
How is the fitment of the front wheels? I thought the sedan had a wider track in the front? Mikal's wheels look the same, are the offsets the same? Do the doors need to be changed? Im thinking of doing this to my wagon for a better selection of front lips. Nice cars!!! :alien:

The wheels I actually had on a sedan 38 offset. I would not recomend. But I have no rubing. If you do the rears, the door and fuel door have to be changed. With the front its just a matter of bolting parts on. The fenders from subaru are like $180 a piece unpainted and I have a front bumper that I will sell for cheap. Shipping is the only thing that cost alot. It has to be painted. Its Blue. Mikal

rear flares
MIKAL,
how did you get the rear flares to work?? can you explain please. i think that looks so F*%$#@! cool. That is how they should have come stock... i cant do the mod yet it would bump me out of STX, but when I retire my wag the flares will be the first thing on.

thats cool thanks for the info.......
mafiamotorsports 10-09-2004 01:05 PM

Along the same lines could you go to a bugeye setup the same way if you swapped the whole nose?
MikalsWRX 10-09-2004 03:50 PM

My friend went from a bug eyed look to an 04. Again he needed the same things I got plus a different mounting bracket for the lights and he also needed an 04 hood. Mikal
kennyvb 10-09-2004 09:02 PM

the flared fenders look great; especially with both front and rear. if the wagon had those from the factory i would have gotten the wagon for sure.

Wagons with sedan fenders are incredibly sexy. However, this sounds like a very expensive project (fenders, bumper, painting, etc.). If you have the time, money, and desire, I say go for it. :D

If you can get the parts at a junk yard, that would help. I was lucky cuz my friend with an 03 wanted to do an 04 front, so i practically got the parts for free. Mikal
AugustusMaximus 10-10-2004 11:53 AM

That wagon with the red wheels is f@*king sweet!!! You guys think I should go for an '02-03 front end or the '04?

Depends on your budget. The 04 cost alot more, you need mounting brackets, hood and headlights. The 02 if thats what you have now you just need the fenders and bumper. Mikal

It's pretty hard to beat free. :D Your wagon looks awesome. It's a real shame Subaru doesn't put the fenders on the wagon in the first place. The wagon's lack of fenders are one of the main reasons I went with the sedan.
TrizzyDizzy 10-11-2004 11:02 AM

Dont do an 04 conversion for two reasons. Supe duper expensive, if insurance dindt help me out, it woulda costed around $4000. But then again i bought all Charge Speed body parts, and a CF hood. And the other reason...i want the 04 conversions to be rare!

what grill anf front end is that? they look great. also, the one with the red wheels, what front end is that. Great wagons!
TrizzyDizzy 10-12-2004 12:11 PM

STI Grille (maybe Liberal, i can never tell teh diff). And has the C West v2 Front bumper. The one with teh red wheels has the liberal Grille (again, possibly the STi), and the Liberal Front Lip. Neither of these kits will fit without the aid of the WRX fenders.
samowrx 10-12-2004 01:15 PM

the one with the red wheels appears to have a wagon front bumper. can anyone comment on this?

bigjohnknob 10-12-2004 09:08 PM

Thank you for bring this up I'm stuck in Iraq right now and this just made my day sweet wagons I guess I'll have to start looking in the junk yard. That is when I get back
TrizzyDizzy 10-12-2004 11:15 PM

No prob Ghost rider, and im pretty sure that the liberal front lip "only" is made for the Sedan, hence it has to be a Sedan bumper.
AugustusMaximus 10-12-2004 11:24 PM

wagons
Liberal is one of the few companies that does make wagon parts. Where are TrizzyDizzy's pics?!?!?! And.....I do like the Chargespeed parts! Did you get the vented fenders? BWAAAAHAAAHAAAA!!!!!!

Oh ok, thanks mikal for the pic, never knew they made one for the wagon also. And Augustus, ive got soem small pics, but i havent yet taken any with the digicam. Ill post the small pics in a second. I havent even gotten my car outa the shop, stuff keeps going wrong, and i have to spend some more cash, and let it be under for a lil bit longer. I got teh charge fenders, but just the wide body ones. I thought i orderd the vented ones, but i got the regular kind. But thats ok, i didnt like the vented one! lol

your wagon looks sweet. where and how did you purchase the fenders and front bumper? did you order thruogh the dealership or can you go around them and order them online somewhere? any info will be apprecciated.
MikalsWRX 11-02-2004 09:55 PM

Thanks, You can get the fenders from a dealer. I was lucky to get them for cheap from a friend who wanted to do the 03 to 04 conversion. :D Mikal

It does look like a wagon's bumper; look at the vertical vent on the side of the bumper. Sedans have little strakes in the vent; wagons don't.
TrizzyDizzy 11-02-2004 10:21 PM

^^^ Good point, im going to have to agree with foxy!

It is a wagon bumper, I posted pics above where you can see the liberal kit for both sedan and wagon :D
TrizzyDizzy 11-02-2004 11:24 PM

Oh, ok, it just had some people confused about how this was "sedan front fenders on a wagon; possible?". But its cool, its a bad ass wagon, but if it had the sedan fender/bumper and the liberal lip, it would be 10x cooler!
MikalsWRX 11-03-2004 01:16 AM

Yeah I was going to do that. But since they made the liberal lip for both cars I wanted something no-one really had. So I did the C-west on the wagon with sedan fenders :D. Mikal
TrizzyDizzy 11-03-2004 07:52 AM

that makes sense! chargespeed lip on the sedan would have been nice!
