Oooooh power oversteer. Looks controlable too. Lots of steering wheel feedback though.
grippgoat 01-05-2007 02:02 PM

Is it my imagination, or is the car bouncing and losing traction on corner exit?

I thought that was because he was using the curbs.
Scoobie Doogie 01-05-2007 03:52 PM

It was Tanner bouncing on the curbs. He's a very good driver. Excellent car control and smooth inputs, plus he's not afraid of getting the car a bit loose.
I was impressed anyway.

My pop says he saw 8500 on the recall but they usually see 8200/8300.
Kostamojen 01-05-2007 10:31 PM

I just re-watched the vid cause I didnt have sound at work...

Half way through when Foust passes that 350z that lost it, I'm absolutely amazed how he pulls off that corner going into the straight with basically NO countersteer... I've been in enough situations like that with AWD to know how you need to aim where you want to go, but that was just amazing how the car just let him keep the wheel straight and just slide it with the trottle into the corner...

Man, i'd want to drive that car just to try that :p

I would say he is definately out there having some fun
sleepy98 01-06-2007 01:20 PM

That car looks really fast, especially coming off the corners! I like it how they just swoop on that Porsche and Skyline...dammmm!

Does anyone know if this is the same set-up they ran (and won) in the Super Street Time Attack?

Different set-up.
OBShahn 01-06-2007 05:17 PM

You know....

It looks almost like he knows how to drive or something...
MRF582 01-06-2007 06:59 PM

Nice driving. Nicely setup car. Cool Video.

crazyGC8 01-07-2007 01:23 AM

Great vid!! Tanner is a great driver!!
What tires?
Ecsta V700, not best choice of tire.

Man that car was hopping a bunch in corners. Need to work on the shocks a bit or was it just too low of a tire pressure?
Great driving by Tanner!
I thought that was because he was using the curbs.
not all of that was just cause of him getting up on the curbing. Some is after that. Watch the video again and watch when he goes past pit in the first time. He goes over the curbing and a few seconds later and he's going into the final corner. The car is still bouncing a bunch as he goes by pit in.

I've talked to the guys at Crawford and I noticed the boincing in their super street time attack video, also. Their DMS suspension is getting pretty old, over two seasons of competitive use, and they need to get them rebuilt or get something new.:D
Just in case you guys are wondering,

Tanner was driving on komho 305's, Russ and my pop drove on kumo slicks that were 285's.

Its an 04 STi still is running a stock block if I am not mistaken so I would bet it still is at stock redline. At least it was a midohio last year.

I don't think they put a built block in it yet and I know for the SCCA competition it was still on a stock block.

Kinda shows you the potential of a stock block STi and a GT30R

Oh and most inportant a great driver behind the wheel which the Crawford STi always has

Matt

The new setup is the 2.7L S6 motor under the hood.

The only reason they had the stock block in there is because the toasted theire built motor right before the competition. I'm pretty sure they swapped that out for something else after that considering its Crawford, they build motors for a living, and no amount of advertising is as good as seeing your race motors in action on the track.

It looked bad, but his pass was worse... with the trajectory that the 350z would have had, it would have t-boned him if he didn't make it through in time. It was aimed squarely at the apex of the corner that he snuck through on the inside. This looks like an intermediate group at a track day, based on the lines that most of the other cars are taking.

He obviously has some driving skill and a very fast car, but it looks a lot like dunking on the little kids on the small basketball court. I want to see this car up against some actual time attack cars, not some dude in his stock 350z who's never done a track day.

So it looks like the driver in this video calculated the time, speed, and distance correctly during that pass.

Agree kind of. I'd also want to see a video that you described. But this video by itself was also good. The video shows that this car is def. way better than a stock car and seems to have decent balance too.
STi-MAN 01-08-2007 06:58 PM

this was at a industry track day... which means mostly manufacturers and shop cars which also mean intermediate drivers and cars.

is this what your looking for?

11.10.06 Buttonwillow Raceway Park, Buttonwillow CA

This past Wednesday, Crawford Performance took home their first Time Attack Championship (Limited AWD) at the Super Street and Eurotuner Time Attack Finals at Buttonwillow Raceway Park.

The day was filled with stiff competition from many well respected tuners and cars from all over the world, including the Crawford Widebody Subaru STi. The Crawford Subaru ended up turning a 1:55.317 in the Limited AWD class which was certainly quick enough to gain much respect from the field of 70 competitors. It was also quick enough to earn 1st place, the Limited AWD Time Attack Champion trophy, to clock the fastest 'overall time'amongst all the other 'Limited' competitors, and to place 9th overall in the entire event.

STI MAN,

To my knowledge, it has DMS 50mm's with pretty stiff springs like 700 lbs/in in front and 600 in back (don't quote me ;) besides they are double progressive) and it has various whiteline stuff, like alk and the 27mm swaybar in back, I think the front is stock. Then all else I know is various Do-Luck chassis braces.
Hope this helps,
Ken
