Window Tint Ticket.

I hope this is in the right forum.
After 6 months, I finally got a ticket for my window tint being too dark. They said I need to fix the tint. (Take it off or get it lighter.) All I need is a receipt stating what was done.
I really like my tint and don't want to take it off. Does anybody out there know any tinters that can get me a receipt? Any other options I can look into?
Thanks in advance.

here in vegas they dont care how dark your tint is. my problem was my windshield was tinted. so i had to get it taken off, to to the police station and have a cop sign off the ticket. then i went back and had is put back on. all for free. andyway, if you have to have a cop look at it, then you better just remove it or get lighter cuz that whole reciept thing isnt going to work. with fix it tickets i would think they would want to look at whatever your were supposed to fix.

To pay the ticket, or not pay that is the question

I had very dark tint and in one year living in the #1 ticket writing county in the US got 2 tint tickets in less that 6months time.
I paid them both because I know the police administration of that county are corrupted by greed and are evil. Taking my tint off would be supporting that evil. (Giving them money is supporting it to so its a lose-lose deal.)
Pay the involuntary tax. Screw the police. Never remove any tint ever.
Side note: now that I drive an STi and I do my best along with the trusty passport 8500 successfully stay out of the troopers sights. I have not yet put tint on it yet. The MY02 WRX had very dark (15%) tint and got instant attention from police. The STi has none and I have never been pulled over yet.(Knock on wood) Is it my Tint, My Radar, My fear of even higher insurance, my disgust of the pigs that support a red neck good old boy traffic citation machine. Who knows but to play both sides of the coin I will put tint on my STi this month and I guess it will be a good experiment..

I have 15% tint on everything but the windshield, which in DE is illegal.
You can have a max of 35% on the back and none on the front.
Ive gotten pulled over once for speeding and he didn't say anything and pulled over in PA once for speeding  and niether time did I get a ticket for my tint, hopeully it will stay that way.
I would just pay the ticked and not take it off.

The rediculous thing is that the only reason he pulled me over was because of the tint. He must have been VERY bored. I think as a last resort, I'll just pay the ticket and not get pulled over again. I've managed for at least 6 months so far. My tint turns out to be 3.5% on every window where the legal limit here is 35% for the fronts. :D

3.5% as in it lets in 3.5% of the light??! woowza!
Just a note too... the fine or the bail amount usually increases with each infraction. My first tint ticket $35, not so bad...my second was somthing like $80, a little harder, but still better than getting the tint put back on. The third... was $150+..ehhh...not so fun. Also the third one was marked non-correctable. So I had to do both, remove the tint and pay the fine!! Looking back though...it was quite an expensive tint job.. $200+ for the tint and $260+ for the fines!! ehhh live and learn huh :p
But your local laws maybe different. I would find out as much as I could first.

i was pulled over for just tint and ticketed as well. If you can find a friend that knows a cop, he can sign it off, that is how i did mine. or peal it. i was told also taht if a dealership does it and you get a tcket, they will remove it, but put it back on for free...dont nkow how true that is..

Oy, got ANOTHER ticket for the tint. Apparently, 3 weeks is enough time to take the tint off. I wasn't going to take it off, but I can't afford all this. It's gonna be sad to see it go.:(

I have dark tint all around my car I stay in Tuskegee I got to the University but Im from NewOrleans what we do back home is usually someone will just write you out one most of the time they will charge you like 20-60 dollars but if you like your 5% like I do youll pay it. so see if that works asking a tint worker for a "fabricated" reciept tell him/her youll willing to pay up front and see what happens

Is this even a question???
You all know the tint laws of your state the shop that does your tint is required by law to tell you if you are in violation of this law.
Somewhere in here I read NEVER REMOVE TINT EVER??? well keep paying the fines then is all I have to say bout that.
I tinted my windows as well but I kept it legal cause I have better things to do than worry about getting pulled over for excessively dark tint. things like trying to galnce at my speedometer as I eclipse the century mark!!! :D

I'm sure if you surveyed car owners, a SIGNIFICANT percent of the people with tinted windows are breaking some tint law intentionally. It's just one of those laws that few people agree with, and it doesn't seem all that bad to ignore that one. :)
15% here... ;)

hey don't get me wrong here I like the darker tint myself, I just can't stand people who gripe they got a ticket for knowingly being in violation.
I speed like an retard and when I get a ticket I don't complain I pay it, and move on

I have 18% on my back window and 30% the rest of the way around (legal in my State)....and haven't had any problems yet. I read somewhere that rolling down your windows when you get pulled over (and before the officer reaches your car) is a good way to minimize any problems w/tint.
I read somewhere that rolling down your windows when you get pulled over (and before the officer reaches your car)
But:
The rediculous thing is that the only reason he pulled me over was because of the tint.
What's the justification for the tint laws? Is it to protect the cops, who can't see the gun you're pointing at them (what I always thought), or is it to protect the drivers who can't see the road?

I had 20% tint all 4 windows, and the rear on my old Plymouth for over 2 years. No problems with the cops, just with getting it insepected. I had a guy though that hooked me up with stickers. In NC legal is 35%, which im going ot have put on my RS cause its so much easier. I had to pull the tint off the front 2 windows to get it inspected to sell it.

I know here in Washington State that the unmarked WSP and county police cars have dark tinted windows. We all know, that this is so you cant see them, but if I was ever sited for having too dark of a tint on my windows I would take pix of their cars and take it with me to court. If its against the law, then its against the law and police vehicles are just as guilty. I would think they would have to throw it out, they cant side with one and not the other.

27% is legal here in good ol' SC.

Tint regulations apply to emergency vehicles. There are also nice red and blue lights that police are allowed to use, but if you put them on your car, don't expect to get it thrown out because "police cars have them too!".
YOU don't have to worry about walking up to a car, and wondering if the person inside is pointing a gun at you because he has an open warrant, a car full of drugs, and doesn't want to go back to jail. It's a little different when the roles are reversed.

You know that if you go to an eye doctor/ optomitrist i think..lol...anyways and get a note stating that tint helps at night and on sunny days..if you make up some bs or if it actually applies to you, like myself, where the light causes distraction or if you have sensitive eyes to bright light they cant give you a ticket for your tint. Just an idea..i have done it and got pulled over, you show them the note and they cant do a damn thing. At least in california...however you have to have a note with you while being pulled over so keep it in your glovebox or somewhere in the car at all times..all right take it easy..Jared

Well, it was illegal tints....
Kind of like getting a picket for not having a front plate if required...
Shame on the shop that did it in the first place...
Nope, not being helpful. But neither are people too stubborn to realize which fights are Worth fighting...
