Pics of carbon fiber doors?
Does anyone have pic of carbon fiber doors on a wrx? I search all over and can only find pics of the doors.
MarylandEcstasy 11-12-2006 10:46 PM

Aaah now that you mention it, I have a photo from Dans Mach V meet with a 75% carbon WRX. Don't remember if the doors are carbon, but the photos are on the comp at home.. I'll try n post.

I would like to see that I just bought a carbon roof cap. Plans are the WRC carbon body kit next. May think about the doors sense the fenders go on the door. have vis trunk and Seibon RC hood now.
ryanschram 11-13-2006 09:53 AM

coolblue05 11-13-2006 04:52 PM

ryanschram 11-13-2006 05:02 PM

Mach V Dan 11-13-2006 05:36 PM

You can find a picture of that carbon-door'ed WRX on our web site, here (Summer open house page).

L'Aunsport parts you can see here:

L'Aunsport website (Japanese language)

We can get you L'Aunsport parts. 1 Arm + 1 Leg = 1 Carbon WRC Replicar!

Four hood pins on the bonnet. Needs four on the trunk hood like mine. Thanks to Graham Ware the Export Manager,
for getting the roof cap on japanparts.com web site. It is held onto the roof with silicone adhesive. My roof was damaged so I went this route, just going to take it to a shop and have them pop the dents out and install the roof vent. The cap comes in ether with or without the cut out for a Spec C roof vent I went with the cut out, and bought the vent at the same time. Japanparts.com

I never seen so little amount of Dzuse buttons. I just may add Dzuse buttons in the upper corners.

how much is the carbon roof cap and do you just install it over your roof skin or is it a replacement part?

the cobb car has 4 Dzuse buttons to hold the trunk on.

there is not much of the shell left on the car. the roof was removed except for a 1/2" flange for bonding. :) i think it saved around 20 pounds.

No need for more attachment points. the trunk is there for aero thats it. the wing attaches to the chassis like it should ;)

BTW i think the trunk lid weighs about 2-3 pounds max.

I was at that show at MachV (you can see the panda gc8 in some of the pics, hurray!) and to be honest, that CF rex was cool, but the fitment on a lot of the panels was iffy. In fact, on some parts it looked downright awful, where the CF was getting that white hazy look on it. Props to the amount of money spent and the limited availability of those parts, but if that was an example of the fitment quality, I'll pass.
David Glasscock 11-14-2006 05:10 PM

gruppe s has them

Not that I like there car, but that is very typical of "dry carbon" cars. The Cwest full prepreg carbon S2000 looked like crap up close in terms of fitment and hazing, but thats what you get with prepreg. It's not pretty stuff, it's light weight.

Also, a friend has a real 02 WRC wing that is carbon and it looks like poop - not shiny, pin holes, etc. Same goes for my WRC carbon mirrors. Prepreg parts are made for race cars not for show cars unfortunately.

I like the inside of them, very "racey"

But the whole CF car thing, if you're not racing your car, is ricey.
digitalpimp 12-20-2006 09:39 PM

the group N door cards are key to how sweet that looks

I'm toying with the idea, and now I can see them on something other than the Seibon background...
Very Nice... I Like

Ricey or not I like carbon fibre.

is that a full carbon Syms spoiler?
wileecoyote 12-21-2006 07:14 AM

No. My spoiler is a Boss Speed CF wing from Japan.:)
Prepreg parts are made for race cars not for show cars unfortunately.

- Chris
While I agree with you on the dull look of not using a surfacing coat (like a sprayed clear or gel inside the mold). That car looks like someone fell asleep at the wheel. Or they had a very dull tool surface.

Looks like someone sanded the hood (upper right hand corner). Why you would need to sand the tool side surface is beyond me. Other than trying to cover up mistakes.

Pinholes (worm holing) is caused by resin shrinkage and/or insufficient vacuum during the cure cycle. Probably werent autoclaved.....and for the most part really dont need to be, but they werent pulling a full 29" of mercury thats for sure.
