Yep, a bunch of us have been talking about it in the Southeast Region forum. The campers (myself, motorob, and others) are going to try to stay at the Parksville Lake campground, on TN 30 just north of its intersection with US 64. $15 per night for a 4-5 person gravel tent pad and hot showers.

Hopefully, some people will have a little room to spare so that everyone that didn't get a hotel room(or no tent/sleeping bag-which i have a tent,, but no sleeping bag!!!)won't have to sleep in their cars[img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif[/img] besides. I'm not sure how much sleep eeryone will be getting anyway... Seems to me like it's going to be one helluva pary all weekend long!!

Anyone have any plans on an i-club meeting area? Since we'll all be there, we should all get together. Whatcha think?

Kelley Subaru from Chattanooga is trying to start a Southeast Subaru Club. They'll be hanging out at the Big Frog recreation center on US 64 between US 411 and the lake. It's on the south side of the highway. I'm going to try to make it by there a few times.

for the people with the knowledge, it would be great if we could get a little FAQ going for directions/locations of the campsite, Kelly Subaru, and rally HQ. oh, and beer dispensors [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif[/img]
porter-shawn's not coming because he's actually decided to start doing work at his job [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/rolleyes.gif[/img] what a horrible time to start. anyway, i'm coming down solo. i definetly want to meet up with everyone and party at the campgrounds. i'm looking forward to this. WooHoo! spring break!!!

As of right now, the long-range forecast looks carpy (as in good weather if you are a carp...) Gonna be a slippery slidey rally!! As well as a muddy camp! I think my rally cry is going to be: More beer!!!
| PURE EPI | 03-11-2001 07:54 PM |
I hear ya!! I think that the Campgrounds near the service area would be perfect for a group meet-up point. It's relatively easy to find and most people will be there. I'll try to look for people based on their I-Club names... I plan to be there Wed nite.. I'll be in Chattanooga in the early afternoon I hope. I want to get pics of the Press Stage and then i'll be off to the service area/start point. Personally, I'd like to stick together with everyone to not only get the best vantage points, but also to ward off large fur-covered predatory animals[img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif[/img][img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/eek.gif[/img] Which could very well ruin EVERYONES rally hopes(whew) I must confess, this is the first event of this kind for me, and I will definately be looking for help in various avenues. I hope to see all of you there... Be careful and have a good trip.

Tips for you newbies to rally watching:
Bring rain gear, umbrellas, flashlights, batteries, portable scanners (so you can listen to the rally net and know what the heck is happening...uses 2 meter band or channels beginning with 140.000). Extra shoes and socks if it's gonna rain like they say. Layers of clothing as it will get darn cold at night (are they running much after dark?). Maps if you can find 'em. Something to sit on is always a good idea too. Snacks and drink to take with you into the woods (no beer! Highly illegal on state lands). Remember..pack it in, pack it out. Leave the place cleaner than you found it so they invite us back.
Driving the roads can be fun, but please keep in mind I may be barrelling down the road toward you like I do at STPR, so always be ready to get off onto the side. Don't smash up your car; it's a long way home from anywhere down there.
Have a good time above all. Hope to see you guys! [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif[/img]

It's National Forest land, not state. Beer is fine as long as you're not driving.
The furry creatures being discussed are black bears, and there are plenty of them. They are also hungry and grouchy that time of year, having just woken up from a long winter's nap. All of us caming need to remember to keep a sanitary camp, no meat or beer empties out to attract charismatic megafauna.
And it's not a long ride home for those of us who live down here!

How about we all plan to meet up at the Scrutineering from 1:00pm-10:00pm at Kelly Subaru?
Or, if anyone is familiar with the place/area, know of any resturants/bars we can all meet at? I know we'll all be coming in at different times.

Awesome!!! Hey, how simple is it to upload digital video to your computer?? Do you have to have a QT Pro program?? I want to take a dig Vid camera to the rally so that I can put digital vid plus stills on my computer.
That way i can make copies and send them out to people who don't have computers to play them back. (can't wait!!1 getting exciting now!!!)

EPI- If you don't find scrutineering, the rally HQ is at the Radisson Read House, MLK and Broad Sts. And a number of us are camping at Parkland Lakes campground out near the spectator center, you can hook up with some of us there, although Thursday night is supposed to be rainy (I'm bringing an extra big tarp, there probably a picnic shelter there too, although I don't know...)
The bears usually run away if you make some noise. You could bash some beer cans on your forehead, that'd scare them away! And I've got something a little strongr for them if one actually get ahold of one of us, but I've never had that happen...

Hey EPI,
Don't listen to Rob, he's obviously been out riding far too fast on his little motorcycle and has shaken something loose.
The campground is Parksville Lake. It's on TN 30 just north of the intersection with US 64, on the north side of Lake Ocoee.
So Rob, are you gonna have us covered for firepower, or do I need to bring Mr. Auto 5?

---side note-- I've never felt this much part of a family in respect to motorcars as I have found here on the I board. And I look forward to lots of exciting times in the future.
