New wax I tried today. (Pics)

I just put a fresh coat of wax on my car today, since it was a nice day. As soon as I got my camera out the sun was hidden by clouds .
Obviously pictures dont do it must justice, but I was very happy with the way it looks and it does not leave that nasty white "crust" inside of cracks like some wax does. VERY nice if you own a black Impreza.
Just thought I would let you guys know... its called "zymol", I read about it in a mag. it was rated #1.

Umm, thats the cheapo zymol you get from walmart or something. costs like 12 bucks, which is still more expensive than other brands. But, the premium wax comes in a canister and goes for around 50 bucks. THATS the good stuff.
I'd avoid using that zymol all the time since its a cleaner wax...it will slowly take away micro layers of your paint. Get a pure wax to use most of the time. I recommend mother's since its not expensive and works great. And, use that cleaner wax like once a year.

I saw a banner for zymol, thought it would be friggishly popular.
Maybe some close-ups next time. So we can really see the shine :)

I used it before. It goes on and off really easy but it leaves dust EVERYWHERE and after it rains there are white streaks from the powder dust.
I don't use it anymore. Plus it doesn't last very long.

It's called Zyrtle Wax, apparently turtle wax bought the zymol name. But the real zymol (which aint that good anyways it only last like two washes.) stuff is still sold.

Its not called Zrytl Wax or whatever.
I cannot see paying $50.00 for some wax for your car... that is just stupidity. I agree with the white dust... that sucks, but it works fine for me.
$50.00 come on now.

If you havent tried Zaino, check it out. Once you use it you'll never go back to carnauba based products... Its easy to apply, easy to remove and lasts a really long time.

I'll be picking up the Zaino wax this week. I'll try to post some pics when I'm through. I heard on the Dakota RT message board that using that stuff makes your car look like you poured glass over your car because it's incredibly shiny. We'll see!!

Not to be too technical, Zaino is not a wax, it's a show car polish.
big difference. . .
there's links and pics of my car with 2 coats of Zaino polish on the last page of the link above. . .check em out!

Word. I just put my 3rd coat of Z2 (on top of 2 coats of Z5) on yesterday. Maybe I'll run out and take a pic.....
| strohausii | 05-02-2003 05:04 PM |
hehehe.....anyways, the zymol (wax not cleaner, the latter is as NOGGIN said, will remove microlayers of your paint for polish=remove, not wax=seal) you are talking about originally was rated best outta the MAINSTREAM waxes by consumer reports for BLACK paint. SO i'm using it now. I the wax has stayed well all winter (water beads the smallest i've seen on any car). :disco: :disco:

FWIW...
I just found this review comparing Zaino with a few of Zymol's products and Meguiar's Gold Class...
http://www.nsxsc.com/nsexcitement/waxtest.html
Zaino came out on top, just slightly edging out Zymol Natural Liquid Auto Polish, which also performed very well. (Interestingly, at $20, Natural Liquid Auto Polish was the cheapest of all the Zymol products tested, but performed the best.)
I just placed my order for Zaino

Is zaino just a polish? I am sure it looks great when you get done polishing but, just polishing isnt the best for your paintwork(we all know how much subaru paint sucks to begin with). Polishing removes crap that is on your paint(good) but it also removes small layers of your clear coat at the same time, so if you use it too often it could hurt the paint. Wax just adds a protective layer over the clear coat so that UV , bug juice, road crap will first attack the the protective wax THEN your paint. If you just polish all that **** goes straight to killing your paint. So polish, then wax, and don't polish every wash(2-3 times/yr for me).

I was initially concerned about that too, but Zaino claims to contain no abrasives or cutting agents, so it doesn't appear to be a "polish" in the traditional sense.

Zaino, albeit called a polish, has zero abraisives whatsoever.
Even if it did have abraisives, they should have NO effect if you are applying it properly. You are supposed to apply it so thin that you can BARELY see the coat that yu just put on.
You should be able to get at least 4-6 coats out of 1 oz of zaino if using it correctly.
The Z-5 Polish contains some fillers which will fill some small (and I mean SMALL) scratches n stuff. The Z-2 is "optically perfect", and will make a perfect shine for you.

Out of curiosity. After using the Zaino products do you guys apply a coat of wax to protect it? Or is that unneccessary?

The terms wax and polish have often been used interchangeably. You really have to research the product you're using to determine what it's doing.
It's not necessary to apply any other product on top of Zaino. Zaino is a polymer based protectant, and it'll outlast any Carnauba based wax in protection and shine.
There are some people who apply Carnauba on top of Zaino in order to achieve any even higher level of shine/depth, but most people do not do this. Plus, mixing Carnauba and Zaino means that if you wish to apply new coats of Zaino, you have to strip everything off and start all over from the clearcoat.

www.ecklers.com has them on their site, but I noticed that they inflated the price (by $1 for each product) and will probably charge you actual shipping. I think you can use a CC there too.
From Zaino itself, you can call them and ask if they have a sales rep in your area, and can pick it up from them for the same price as Zaino's site
Oh, yah, Zaino charges a flat rate for shipping, if you buy 1 bottle or 20 bottles. . .

The amount of clear coat that is removed with a polish is extremely minor, and should not be an issue. On the other hand, if you're using a heavy rubbing compound or using an abrasive compound with a buffer you may burn through your clear coat.

Or when the surface temperature of your car gets above about 100-150 degrees which is very common.
no uv protection for your clear at all and will be gone fast.

I use Zymol cleaner wax (light green, smells like coconut) on my MBP RS, and it makes the car shine like no other...It also removes little swirl marks. My question is this a good protectant wax? My paint still beads up water like no other, but am I getting good UV protection?
I used to use Mothers cleaner wax, but this stuff provides a LOTS better shine...only downside is it streaks a little.
