Q: What is the benefit of Fender Braces ?

My appologies, if this has been covered ...
What do these Fender Brace things do? Yes, I know the basic answer is that they re-enforce the fenders.
Would I need something like this in a daily street driver, once a month auto-x'ing '04 STi ?
What type of situation, i.e. off road/rally/other, would something like this come into play?
Also, why is one of these categorized as an exterior mod, and the other a suspension mod.. is there any true suspension benefit from these ?
Any advice or information you all can provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Theres been some review from auto-x'rs that they do improve turn in, but seems kinda expensive for gain you're probably not going to notice on the street.
I'd spend my money elsewhere on the suspension first (that and I don't wanna disassemble my fender to install it).

Uhm, one is called a STi Side Cowling Stay, the other is Nagisa Fender Braces .. so its very possible that the rest of the population could have understood it as both, maybe... And was it so important to emphasize the discrepancy in terms rather than to add something constructive to the post ?
Anyone have anything constructive to add? I've found and currently reading a long post on these stays/braces. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=961278&page=3&pp=25&highlight=fender+braces

Theres also a local vendor offering a similar product for $92 shipped, which is more worth it IMHO.

Might be worth checking out at a more reasonable price.

Uhm, I did... post #5 has the link to a great thread with Fender Brace info.. Oh, and I read through it.. You harrassed people in that thread too about calling it a cowl vs. a fender... And after all these worthless posts in my thread, and you still could only come up with that I need to search the forums, which i did.
Who's the sorry lame ass ?
I've searched and read through several of the posts you've made in the last few weeks... Some times you provide useful info, but for the most part you just harrass people and make snide or rude comments insinuating how much you know and how little the rest of the world population knows. Why are you here on this board if all you want to do is harrass people ?
e.g. : http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=961278&page=2&pp=25&highlight=happi
In Posts #34, 36, 38 you're being rude, it seems just at random. Then by post #88 you are offering to assist with an install. Then by #116 you are back to being rude again, so by post #173 you are freaking out about Cowl vs Fender.. Geeze such a range of emotion, you may want to consult your doctor, they make medications now (Ritalin) to keep you're highs and lows in check...
You need to grow up man and think about it before you just click the submit button on your posts. Such random and unfettered hate can not be good for your health. I hope when it's your time, karma is kinder to you than you deserve.
Peace,
Jason

You don't like fried egg samm'mich'z ;) .. It was the 1st thing that popped into my head. I can see it now, like an Alfred Hitchcock movie, you run to your Subaru to evade the crazed flocks of birds only to find the recent egg sam'mich upgrade you installed is leading them right to ya.. the harder you drive the more they cook, making them smell better, till they eventually burn... LOL :) Great pic!!

So they really do make a difference, all yet a small one. This seems to be the concensus out there. I've only read 1 post of a 'slight' negative, but they had an after market sunroof installed that made some cuts in the b-pillar, if I remember correctly.
Has anyone experienced a noticable difference between a 2 or 3 point brace ? Would this be something too subtle to really notice... i wonder.. more reading..
Thanks for your reply!

No worries :) I'm still reading.. They look like they couldn't hurt, and most everyone was satisfied or happy with the purchase and differences they provided. I think I'm sold, now I just need to figure out which set to get.. I want rather cheap i.e. they all do the same thing and you can't see them. but they come in a 2 or 3 point configuration. I need info if there are noticable differences between the two. More reading :)
Thanks!

Hey Hybrid. The general concensus is, just get one.. doesn't matter who makes it, how it's made, or what not .... but ANYTHING is going to be better than stock, except for maybe some of those egg sam'mich'z .. lol ... from what I've gathered, they all produce the same feel so don't waist your money on the most expensive ones, go cheaper or middle grade pricing.
Good Luck

I'll chime in, I installed some a couple of weeks ago and while the difference isn't dramatic, on hard turn ins, the front end fells firmer and goes where you point it a little better. I have not driven the car hard alot but that is where you will feel it IMO. Not a huge difference but definitly noticeble and worth the money, plus easy install. I bought the billet alluminum ones sold in the vendor forum, plus one for this vendor and the product. When you see the factory ones which are 1/6th stamped steel, you got to believe this is a good upgrade.

I am pretty sure the cowl stays/braces are the same for sedan and wagon, ask a vendor to be sure. As for the install, all you have to do is remove the front wheels and remove the rear portion of the plastic fender liner. Take the plastic clips out and gentle peel it back and tuck it out of the way behind the rotor. The brace/stay is tucked up in there. The best tool for removel is an offset socket wrench since the bolts are hard to get to. I took me about 30-40 minutes. YOU DO NOT need to remove the fender or door.
