Anyone used Sparco Speed or Sprint seats?

Please give any info if you have. Mounting, color match with blue STi interior (pictures look pale blue) , comfort, practicality.

If anyone who actually has these or has sat in them please give some input. Have a friend with Sparco EVO seats, wonder how they compare. Weight is said to be 17lbs. That is the weight requirement for STU seats.

If you want to match the STi interior, get black seats, and buy blue insert cushions from Sparco :)

They took a little getting used to, but I had no problem with 20 hours over the course of a weekend. In that short time, they showed wear both on the protective high-wear patches and the cloth under my thighs.
The difference in comfort between a steel framed seat like that and a nice composite shell is tremendous. If I had to do it over again, I would have saved up for composite seats like the Sparco Evo.

I've got some NEX shell seats (some kind of off brand knock off thats cheap...they look like sparcos) and a Sparco Spring tube frame seat. If you are properly seated, either seat is WONDERFULLY better than any stock seat (save the EVO's recaros)....however, if you do not fit the seats and/or the cusions are not present...they are hell to DD in.

I like the Speed for both autocross and daily driving.
Mounting is pretty simple,you will need 2 ppl to install it.

They supposedly have more padding that the Sprint, are they reasonably comfortable? Are you using 4 pt harness or stock belts? If you could send some pictures installed in your car would be great.

i daily drive in a sparco speed. Not bad at all, but i'm not on coilovers yet either.
definitly worth it for performance driving if your stock seats arent cutting it.

Yes, I am using 4pt harness, it is comfortable for daily driving but you need time to get used to it since it is lower than the stock seat, and it is also pleasant for high way driving ;)
I am using the seat for both solo2 and solo1, no problem at all, they give you GREAT laternal support.

I have the Sprints and they suprised me with their comfort. They really aren't bad at all, even the g/f likes them :) I've driven several hours on the highway with these (let alone at events) and they never were uncomfortable. Probably not so good for a larger person, though. Anyway, I got mine from [url=http://www.soloperformance.com]Solo Performance[/url] and have always been a very happy customer when I've purchased things from them.

My friend has a sparco sprint and its really not that bad to drive in daily, the worst part is getting in and out, its just awkward. I would recommend a JDM recaro srd.

Have a Sprint in my rally car for the codriver. Wouldn't recommend it, especially for daily driving..It's going away as soon as possible. Bottom mounts are a bit more of a pain to mount too.. Side mount is the way to go, then you can get some adjustment out the seat (slightly reclined vs. vertical).
If you want a strong and comfy seat go for a Cobra Imola 2 (kevlar). If you are set on Sparco think about an Evo or Evo L, otherwise a Momo Monte Carlo is also a good choice.
I've sat in many race seats, and the Sprint is my least favorite of all. Spend a few more bucks and get something that you'll be happier/ comfier with.. :)

I used to use an EVO2. I have a Sparco Rev in the civic and I like it better then the EVO.

I have a set of Speeds in my STS Civic with 600lb springs. When I had 450lbs springs in it, it wasn't bad at all. If you're going to daily drive it like I do, get a back support for your lumbar. I bought one of those gel ones and it works great.

Had both, the Speed is 1.5 pounds heavier but the extra padding means I don't need a phone book in order to see well (I'm 5'7" and I used 2" risers). Daily driving is OK, the Speed is a little friendlier on the ass.

I had them in my SM Honda, and only made a 1hour plus drive once. After that I made it a habbit to trailer it for periods longer than that.
They also are made to not collapse so you break your neck and most likely die on a rollover without a cage

If you want race type seats that look good (which it sounds like you do, based on requests for pix) look at Sparco Evo or Evo2 composite seats. The tube-frame type ones like you are talking about are race-only options, unless you PREFER to have your butt or legs go to sleep on those long drives to visit the G/F's parents, etc...

I drove in my civic with 10k/8k coilovers from Anchorage AK to Los Angeles in the middle of winter in a Sparco Sprint. I was never uncomfortable in it, the seat bottom has that Pirelli suspension rubber webbing thing and isn't too bad. I have a 32" waist and weigh about 160, I fit nicely in the Sprint...bigger people may not like it. After that seat, I moved into a Buddy Club and that was different, much snugger, but the additional support from a shell seat is kinda nice too, but I think the Sprint was more comfortable. The only complaint is that they do wear out somewhat quickly. Mine faded from red in about 18 months, and the spots that you touch and rub during ingress and egress will show signs of wear and tear about the same time.

hey i do autox and im beginning to do 2 events atleast once a month and im looking into a sparco sprint. ive sat in a sparco sprint and many other sparco seats at a performance shop called ogracing. the sprint fits me the best and keep my legs from hitting the sides under my steering wheel ( i get bruises). i daily my car and it feels real comfortable just sitting in it , but is the only way u can adjust it is the bolts underneath?

seen numerous rolled Impreza's, none of the roofs collapsed. If the roof doesn't collapse, no broken neck.

all it takes is one. Point is the sprint is not a daily driver seat. If you want to get a sparco seat get a real reclinable full figured "sport" seat made by sparco. They can be found used for respectable prices.
Or get used STI or EVO seats

sliders attach just like all other aftermarket seats, then the slider goes on the bracket and the bracket to the car.

I've sat in them in SM cars - they aren't horrible but I can't imagine they would be comfortable in a daily driver. I had an EVO 2 in my daily driver and it was more comfortable than the stock seat.
Also, a lot of racers/fabricators recommend against seats built out of steel tubing for safety reasons (even if they are FIA certified). I would say spend some more on a better seat, you won't regret it.

For daily driving they are actually very comfortable if you ask me. They are on the big side and so am I so keep that in mind. I have one for the passenger seat in our Time Attack WRX and I rode shotgun for 15 hours in that seat without any fatigue!!!! This is impressive as I broke my back racing motocross and it's a mess! I did add the lumber pad which is mandatory if you ask me.
Now for racing it mounts really low. You can get creative to tilt the seat and make it more comfortable but the steel frame digs into your sides and shoulders when racing. If you are really on a budget you should consider it. My driver's seat is an EVO L (2) and I find it superior in comfort for daily driving, it's easier to get in and out of, has good height, it�s lighter, and it supports your body just right while racing. Would I buy anything other than the EVO L (2)? No it�s the ultimate for a dual purpose seat.

I don't think daily driving in an Evo is bad at all, either. I did it for a while before I started taking the train. You have enough range of motion built into your neck that even with the harness on and strapped down, you can look far enough over your shoulder to check your blind spot.

+1 for the Evo L. I really like mine. Get the aluminum side mounts and save more weight. I think they are very comfortable, but there's no getting around that there is less room to move/shift than stock. And for long trips (2+ hours) they aren't quite as comfy as stock IMHO. Bounce is much reduced over stock seats too. Good thing the ring is only 1.5 hours away! :)

You should be totally fine in an Evo. I was 5'8" 175 for a while (15 lbs ago!) and they fit perfectly. Most folks are surprised that they're not tighter.
