Window Tint part 1

BNastyer 07-10-2006 01:50 PM

Window Tint
Have people had good luck tinting the windows on there WRX? I noticed on mine when it rains out some moisture builds up on the weather stripping between the window and the pillar and i didn't know if that has caused anyone's tint to bubble. Please post pics of your car, i think it looks sick tinted but don't want it to be a waste of money..........especially when i could use that cash for performance parts!
kessler89 07-10-2006 03:36 PM

had them tinted on my 03 for 2years with no problems, just got them done on the 06, they'll be fine and it's worth it
arod87 07-10-2006 03:36 PM

yeah i noticed that to. but it doesn't seem to effect my tint. even if the tint did start to bubble off most tinting places have a lifetime warranty. so if i see any bubbles i can get it redone for free at da place i got it. i paid 240 for mine, all around, it's like 15 percent... :)

thats great info guys thanks a lot

I've had 20% tint all the way around for a year without any bubbles and it rains plenty here in Seattle. I haven't even had a garage to park it in for the last year. No close ups of the tint, but here's a pic...

I have an 04 with 2 years on the tint. Still looks fine. If you get it done with good film at any reputable tint shop you won't have any problems.
kyleblix 07-10-2006 06:36 PM

I also have an 04, two years of tint, no problems....well excpet one ticket
BNastyer 07-11-2006 12:26 PM

that 20% tint looks great burncycle......here in MA we can go 35% all around b4 we get ticketed.......but i know plenty of kids that went darker w/o any problems (crosses finger) i'll prob go 20% too!
ghibli99 07-11-2006 12:44 PM

Yep, same here... while I haven't had tint on my windows for that long, it's been through about 5-6 washes since then, and no peeling/bubbling.

Just be sure not to hit your rear defroster.

15% rear/35% front (front darkness doesn't draw unwanted attention during the day, but keeps the heat out and looks dark at night):

I got the Llumar on mine. I went to the Suby dealership and asked where they got their cars tinted, and went there. It cost me $150 after tax to get it tinted. Yeah there were bubbles for the 1st 2 weeks, but they disappeared.

Yeah, techically WA is 35% too, but I haven't had any problems with my 20%
alpinev12 07-11-2006 09:35 PM

i had bubbling on my passenger side front window but the warranty took care of it...otherwise yes it does look "sick"

hey guys, thanks for all the advice it was much appreciated. Went to Tint King in billerica, ma on sat. morning and trent down there hooked me up with 35% all around. He said the WRX is one of the easiest cars to do and the results are always stellar. They got it done in no time at all and when i get the chance i'll have to post pics of the job it looks siiiiiick!
CU04BlackWRX 07-17-2006 02:35 PM

We must have been thinking the same thing. Went today and got 20% all the way around with a strip on the front glass.

Yes, they really are, i would definitely recommend them to anyone. Just call ahead of time and they'll get you in and out really quickly.
Kean 07-20-2006 02:55 PM

...haven't had any issues with mine but I think it has a lot to do with the quality of the product that is used as well as the installation.
Black-Falcon 07-20-2006 03:08 PM

35 all around. I hate it. Mine looks waaay too light. Its because of the tan interior of my car though. I'm going to get it re-done in 20%...
impreza97 07-20-2006 03:35 PM

I have 3% all the way around on my L and i love it. Even when its sunny out you cant see in the car.

That is what it looks like on the front window. I took that the same day. I don't know if they took the mirror off but they got about 3/4 of the way down it? Click the image for all my images.

Ive had 10% since day one pretty much. within the first month of owning it for sure. Its great and there have been no problems apparent to me after 82,000 miles. Luckily I live in NM and people dont give a ***** down there, the percentage doesnt matter.
IIdiceII 07-20-2006 06:20 PM

anyone with 20% or 35% in the back and nothing up front?
