Sno-Drift Rally, Tanner Foust+SYMS?

I read that Tanner Foust has shown up with a open class car, fancy big-rig and SYMS support. Anybody know what is up? Do you think Tanner has the budget to run a full season? Do you think Tanner may make the championship more interesting?
Thanks,
Ted Mendham

Tanner should have the budget for the championship, hopefully, he'll also be able to run a high spec car, I just hope he doesn't have problem making repairs as he can be hard on his equipment sometimes. I think he'll be mucking it up big time at the top of the leader board.
Don't know much about SYMS, although I suspect they probably formed their relationship at Rally New Zealand...

Cool.
Google search SYMS Rally Team. Looks like they they have run and won in PWRC. If it is the same SYMS.
Good luck to Tanner.

Looks like Hyundai is coming back. Haven't confirmed this officially yet but it looks like they atleast want to qualify for the X games if nothing else.

Meaning Paul is back full-time?
Also, Lauchlin got backing and is running with CPD all season: LINK
Great news all around! This season is going to be something special.

Paul being back full time is the rumor. I haven't seen any confirmation of anything anywhere yet. We'll see if I get some return phone calls and e-mails.
I think Pinker has a full budget as well (atleast through the X games I think) and ACP and Slowboy are good to go for 2007 RallyAmerica.
you have TP, KB, Tanner, Lauchlin, Iorio, ACP, Andy and Paul running most if not all of the events. I heard some grumblings about some other serious contender teams that we might see from 100AW on as well. I believe Brian Scott will run most of the RA national events as well, he may challenge on some events as well.
Then you have PGT with Matt, Pritchard (who might not have PGT experience but the man can drive), and Cowboy Kenny already.
What I meant when I said I didn't know much about SYMS is that I didn't know how their customer programs were outside of the PCWRC (will Tanner get de-prioritized if the PCWRC team has troubles and there is an event coming up for instance). They certainly seem to have their stuff together but I don't know about how much they can handle. I don't know the details of the deal (is it SYMS build and at event supprt, is it all SYMS, will they just be flying in to thrash on the car for events, where will the team base be, etc.).
There should also be one more very serious PGT team coming together soon as well. Can't say more about that right now though.

They'll be able to handle it just fine.....after sno drift he'll (tanner) have a new co-driver too which will shake things up in PGT with the return of one of the fastest PGT drivers in the US. 100AW should be insteresting.

The car goes to paint next week I think. Hopefully there will be an announcement so other people can know whats up by next weekend maybe?
Is the new navie's initials CB or is he going to have someone from overseas?

Here's some more wild rumors and speculation (some in jest, some in jab, some fo'reels):
1) Tanner has plenty of $$$ to run the championship lots of it coming from some energy drink company
2) Tanner uses more hair product than CB. So, he'll be disappointed when he trys to borrow some and there isn't any to borrow.
3) PGT will have lots of entrants but Johnson and Prichard will dominate even if SV comes back and BB car rumors are true.
4) Rally America will continue to attract nearly zero 2wd competitors to their national events. Plus, Eric B's (probably most expensive rally car in US) car will break anyway.
5) TV coverage (especially X-Games) will cover only 5% of the drivers 90% of the time.
6) Only 15% of the drivers will be trying hard enough to be interesting to watch.

Josh is pretty much right on...of course with the exception of item #3...so quickly everyone forgets that frenchies got skills. On a side note, SV has a new STI drift car that is going to be pretty crazy.
Oh - and not that anyone cares but I may show up in PGT at some point too....

For what it's worth, I spoke with Tanner for 10 minutes when he was at CES a few weeks back. I recall him saying he was switching to the open class with a new one-car team with [P|J]WRC experience (I forgot what he said exactly), so maybe it is SYMS.

Plus the new car seems pretty solid, that is as long as he tries not to break it every rally... That and they seem to have lots and lots of spares now...
The only one wearing gel in the car will be the driver! No need to go oversees when he's got 118 lbs of co-driving talent here.

Does that mean I'll be seeing the SRT-4 here around CO (I assume Todd put you in touch with the interested party and took all the credit of course?)?
Oh, and I think it will be closer to 25% of the field will be interesting at most of the rallies since the fields will be smallish at most of the rallies.

Tanner has "mad skillz yo" and now he has some backing to help him.
It's gonna be a good season - - Travis / Ken / Tanner / ACP / Lauchlin / etc. / etc. - - - Now if Pat could only get some Big money and come back and join the fight!

I was wondering how long it would take before someone came up with this as a lame a_ _ excuse.
I hardly think that Travis (or Christian for that matter) are the type of people that would even contemplate this.
If they thought the stage was unsafe - It Was!
I agree though, the naysayers on SS.com (and elsewhere) are gonna have a field day with this one.

Is Paul just trying to qualify for the X games then? Seems reasonable enough even if Hyundai aren't paying all of the bills that he would be.
Very odd for recent years to see Paul travel very far for a rally none the less. Here is to seeing more of it though!

That's how it came across sitting ~1/2 mile down the course, waiting for the cars to come through. Chionere stopped to tell the radio operator no-one was hurt and looked very agitated. Later on when we heard more about it, it sounded like some sno-mobilers were drag racing the car as it came by and/or trying to be in front of it. I'd say an unsafe stage.

I'm almost surprised that Christian didn't have a HAM set up in the car to call that in on his own. Or maybe there is something in the rules that I don't remember that would make that a no-no.

Congrats on the win 199. Impressive drives by a lot of crews.
I noticed 2 sized tires used on the 199, why was that?
That looked like a great rally. I can't wait for the pics to filter in.

Without revealing any trade secrets, we use narrow tires to cut through soft snow and get to hardpack underneath. In hardpack or icy conditions, we ran a wider tire with widely spaced blocks.

I was in that same group after we got Tom's car dragged up the hill from an earlier stage and secured on the trailer. ACP stopped and said the red cross was thrown (no mention of any injuries, just that there was snomobile traffic). He then drove on. Pinker came by and apparently thought transit speed may as well be stage speed. Chionere stopped, said Travis was changing a tire, and like Slide said was a little adgitated. More importantly he was the first person to tell any official that there were no injuries. The radio at that point was a few hundred feet away from the stage and had heard nothing. Personally I think he was too far away from the stage and didn't have any communication with the marshals, but that was probably in the interest of radio reception. A 2-way would have made that a bit easier.
Christian, did you have some other kind of radio in the car to talk to Subaru? When control put out the boradcast about the stage being stopped it sounded like they had more information than we'd gotten at that spectator point, which should have been the first radio location after the incident.
