04 Wagon - Anyone fit 02-03 Rear Sedan Diffuser Lip?

Curious as to whether anyone here has tried to fit the 02-03 sedan diffuser rear lip to their 04-05 wagon...
I have seen it done on an 02-03 wagon but wondered whether it had been successfully done on an 04 wagon...
Or, has anyone fit the 04 STi JDM Rear Skirts on their 04-05 wagon?
Looking for a little dress up for the rear other than the ugly 04 wagon rear lip or the mostly unattainable aeroguards.
Thanks

how does the rear diffuser attatch? and how cheap can it be had for? lowest i've found is right under $500 painted + shipped.

I believe it attached with just a couple of screws and double sided tape...
That seems to be the going price for it...

mind you, MODIFICATION IS NEEDED to install this item :)
it is not a bolt on. you have to drill.

sorry Jamie, we're talking about the 02-03 whole rear bumper under spoiler with built in diffuser. IMO the 06 looks like a cheap piece of junk that someone decided to tack on after the car was finished...oh wait...thats what it is :D

on that price discussion I just checked jamie's site and they have the painted rear diffuser lip for $305 plus shipping which is the best price I have seen for the oem part.

I don't like how it specifically says "doesn't fit wagons"
| file_id | 09-02-2005 12:56 PM |
There is some guy on NASIOC who has the 02-03 rear diffuser on his 04-05 bumper. He said he said the shop did some minor modification and alot of bondo. Normally the rear lip is held on via brackets and screws.

DieselClown has it on his 04 sedan, I am hopeful that fitment would be better on 04-05 wagons...We will find out

you will probably have to do some trimming to make it fit.
i cannot say 100% for certain
but if you go for it, document it well for everyone :)

It's been since APRIL, my goodness and I finally brought her back to the shop to finish it. Here's the during photo that I've show here before many times, but I should get her back Monday, all done. It's a PITA!

Did you order it yet Panic? I'm tempted to order it and try as well. I don't really care if I have to drill through my bumper as long as nothing is going to show once the kit is on. I'd like to see more pics of the underside of the 3 pieces so I can see exactly how and where they attatch and how bad I'd need to hack my rear bumper up.

I ordered the replica version from primitive racing and am now waiting...I am sure that I will have a more difficult time with the fiber replica than the oem urethane version but I did not want to drop over $300 while being the guinea pig.
I will post up once I have the parts in hand and have had a chance to check fitment...It should not be more than a week or so before I can report back if you want to wait and potentially save yourself the money...

So to get yours to fit on the sedan you had to get a bug eye rear bumper? Or did you get it to mate up to your 04 bumper?
| Panic | 09-05-2005 09:17 PM |
He replaced his stock 04 bumper with an 02-03 bumper and got oem fit for the lip by doing this...He did mod the bumper to fit his 04 tails...
DieselClown fit the diffuser to his 04 bumper, can't wait to see the finished version of his setup...

can you post the link to primitive's kit please...i assume it comes unpainted?

there is no picture on Paul's website of the rear diffuser lip, it is only listed on the pricelist page. You could probably get a picture of it directly from Paul Eklund, pm if you want his email address or come to think of it...it's on the primitive racing web site

Okay thought he used the 02-03 lip, guess that means even more mods to make this work on an 04 wagon. As you would have to fab up the sedan bumper from an 02-03 first. Curious to see the folks who have made this work on an 04 bumper.

Curious to see the folks who have made this work on an 04 bumper.[/QUOTE]If the 04+ rear bumper is the same on the sedan & wagon, then there's still a fair amount of fabrication to be done. Basically, the edges of the bumper are too round for the rear aprons to fit correctly, not to mention about an inch or 2 wider as well therefore the diffuser part will not connect properly. THe bodyshop had to bondo an extra inch on the diffuser to make it connect with the aprons. I should be getting her back tonight, so I'll try to post pics.
