Is there anyone that's had a wrx repainted?

Just wondering if theres anyone who had their rex repainted and how much it cost, etc. I did a search and found one pic of a rex that was repainted cadillac orange but that's all. No real specifics. at 10k my paint is in horrid condition and I wash and wax my car as much as possible. I'm going to try soon to claybar and put some swirl free polish onto it, but I still have many paint chips (at 10k!) and I'm just wondering how much a good paint job on a wrx goes for...? I'd most likely keep it red, but part of me wants to change colors too, although I know that is a major PITA.

I asked a quote from a trusted body shop a year ago, and it is in the range of US$4000-5000, if you want the hidden edges painted as well.
There was a wrx in nasioc painted lime green ("evilwrx"? not sure of the logon name). That fellow may have a better quote than I do.
Whether you repaint or not, I highly recommend putting paint & headlight lens protection film like 3M's Scotchguard.

How bad could it be? Most of the Subaru's on Nasioc have paint chips, the paint is just junk.
As for the swirls, thats your fault for improper washing/drying.
Lets see a pic!

Well the dealer fugged it up pretty bad, but I didnt complain, because I was afraid to see what more harm they could do if they tried to fix it :( I am just going to apply some meguiar's swirl free polish one of these days and see how that works. I had my mustang since it was new and always hand washed it and it didnt look like this. :( Guess I need some touch up paint, claybar& SFP, and the rock blocker (though I remember reading on the board someplace that the salt used on the roads in the wintertime really does a number on that also).
I probably wont repaint or anything, but I've been wondering about it, as I seriously question the durability of the paint in the long run, and I plan on keeping this car as long as it's running :)
Just wondering what kind of numbers people have for that sort of thing. :)

Had my car egged at 10K by exgirlfriend. I hate girls on softball teams, they can throw.
12 eggs later, ate in over night...
I did an all over paint through state farm 750 for rental car for a month and 4000 for paint.

A body shop around here starts off at $1,500, but it depends on the car and the color you want. They are very reputable, have won many awards.

Yep. Try touch-up paint first, or a respray would be cheaper.

Sometimes it's better/easier to just pay the extra money for a reputable detailer to take care of it. They usually have the right tools and products to restore a nice, swirl-free finish. Maintenance after that should be relatively easy as long you keep up with it and do it right.
.....your example is one of the reasons I don't let the dealer give me a "courtesy wash" when I bring my car in for service. Some of those guys can be butchers.

i dont know about the hole car, but i'm having the right side and both bumpers painted for ~$1100 (very reputable shop with a certain degree of "hook-up").. my guess if you want to paint it the same color, you can do it for under 2 g.

4-5 k is about average for an entire strip and repaint. That will be done right also meaning they pull the fenders, hood, doors etc and paint everthing not just the parts you can see on the outside of the car. Plan on being without your car for about a month or so. Your other option is to live with it like all the other subaru drivers who have ****ty paint. I just tell people it's from off roading.

if you have some time and space... PREP IT YOURSELF!!
the cheapest way is to go with the exact same color, and goto a reputable body shop.
pull off all the plastic trim pieces and body kit stuff and whatnot so that you're left with only the painted metal, mask off all the parts you don't want to touch the paint stripper, then go get a couple gallons of AIRCRAFT PAINT STRIPPER.
be sure to work on a cement top, since this stuff will eat asphalt.
get a brush and start painting on the paint stripper in nice thick coats, then jsut let it sit and do it's magic.
after an hour, the paint should be virtually done for and the paint stripper shoudl be completely dry. if not, let it sit a little bit longer so the stuff dries.
then jsut get a rag or something and start removing all the peeled off paint. should be very easy, if anything is still stuck after you go over the entire car, put some more paint stripper on the problem areas. then rinse the car with a pressurizes stream of water.
Next, it's time to start sanding with very find grit sandpaper....
then you need to get some high quality automotive primer, primer the car, and sand it again (finer grit, and possibl wet sand as well)
now the car is ready for final painting and I suggest you get the car towed (after wrapping it in plastic) to a good body shop.
a $5000 paint job will now only cost you $1000-2000. (high quality paint costs about $600-1200 in materials alone.
Also, regarding car washes, with the right products you can do your own swirl-free car wash and wax for much much less than what other places charge.

there is no reason to strip the paint. the only reason you should ever strip the paint on a vehicle is if the mil thickness of the paint is too high or there is the old style straight laquer paint on there from the 70s and earlier.
plus if you strip the entire car you also have to metal prep all of the metal surfaces and then prime right away not just strip the paint and then prime. it will rust underneath the primer even if you use self etching primer.
you could do the paint job yourself if you have all of the tools for around 500$$ sandpaper and all.
if you want to know how to really repaint your car the best way and will also save you a lot of time and money pm me cause there is no way in hell you should have to strip your car, the paint shop wouldnt. too costly and to time consuming.

Ding.Ding.Ding.....and the winner is.
It is indeed seal grey. It's steppinrazor's car. I almost bought it. He got to him minutes before I did> The car came that way from the previous owner. And the paint job isn't as great as it seems...but it still looks hot. Specially with bronze wheels. Nice ride.
As for a complete paint.....it's a lot less if you keep it the same color...or don't stray much. Because then they don't have to worry about your engine bay. jams. trunk...etc. If you do a massive change and have it done right it's gonna run you in the neighborhood of $5k.
My quote for both drivers side doors, rear quarter panel, roof. Was over $2k.
You can cut corners if you have say...a black car...cause the jams and what not look pretty good that color with a lot of colors...like seal grey. And that will drop the cost some.....but a quality paint job is gonna cost you $4-6k just about any way you look at it.
Piss off an exgirlfriend and get keyed or egged...then it'll cost you about $500.

[B] Well,
I have had quite a few PMs asking for more shots about the different paint job.
Here you can see quite a big difference in shade, depending on the angle you look at.
I fell in love with the color at a Ferrari Club of America event. Everyone was driving silver, red (well of course, it's a Ferrari), black and yellow. One guy had a different color and I thought it was quite amazing.
It sometimes goes from bright silver to an almost charcoal look. I'll try to post more shots when I have a sec.

there was another titanium-ish color on a WRX, i remember this one because it was darker than Ti-REx's color and has STi carbon fiber sidemarkers (ti-rex's are shaved), along with bronze wheels.
