Anyone else heading out this weekend to check out Irish Mike's WRX racing in Round #2 of the Speed World Challenge series in St. Pete this Sunday?
If so a couple of us Florida locals will be near turn 7 in the General Admission Section! I'll be taking pics and hope to have them up Sunday night.

I hear Randy Pobst had an amazing pole, finishing over a second faster than the rest of the field. Go Randy!

i'm here at the st pete gp working in the pits. i'll check out the action at turn 7. I only wish I brought my WRX up here to play. The track looks really good. I've been watching Irish Mike's WRX and he looks to be pretty competitive.

He was way off the pace of the top cars, but that's kind of to be expected. I believe he didn't qualify last which is always a plus. :)

Just walked in the door getting home from the race(s). Irish Mike's #26 started 22nd and finished in 13th place! Not bad at all. Probably would've been closer to a top 10 finish if Davis in the Realtime TSX hadn't tried to plow him into the turn #8 tire wall on the first restart.
Anyone know what happened to cause the several lap caution early on? I think they said a BMW driven by Thomas had hit the wall hard and was blocking part of the course....but it wasn't where I could see.
Was an awesome race and a great place to watch, I kept roaming between turns #4 - #9! :D I have several pic's I'll get up soon!
BTW: Pobst & Herr put on one hell of a show!

Hey guys,
Just made it in from St. Pete, what a hell of a week. Just wanted to drop a note and thank all the people for the support and stopping by.
Typical IMRacing style, we fight with little problems all week and get it sorted on race day. Yes we qualified 22nd, we had a great start and ended up 14th on lap one. Lap 2 we got another postion and the yellow came out for about 20 min. On restart we got punted in to a wall by Curran I believe, and it through the alignment off, we fell to 17th. We battled back to 13th were we finished.
P.S.---Herr was D/Q at tech after the race so we move to 12th. (wow). Also we are 12th in the points as of today with the 13th place finish, I do not know if the 12th place move up will help?
Just wanted everyone know we are doing our best and hope to continue to move up.
Thanks again for all the support

Congrat's guys! It was a blast as usual to watch. Wish I could've gotten in the pits to come say "Hi". I was standing at turn #8 when Mike got punted, I thought it was by Davis that did it (as he did later to Galati in Turn #9), but it might have been Curran, all those damn Realtime cars look alike!
Almost had that Holeshot award climbing 8 spots in the first lap too!
Here are my pic's, sorry for the quality....to many things for the camera to focus on, plus the cars were moving so fast! :D

cool pics, and short film. It took us about 4 laps to catch and pass that honda type R, but we did it with one lap to go.
That was an amazing track. They did a hell of a job, and the IRL cars, no words can describe. Well maybe "balls, got have 'em"
what does everyone think of the side graffics on the car, brad from Titan helped with the design, thanks.
I cant describe how stoked we are.
All I can say " Subaru 2, Neon 0 ", for now anyway.
Thanks again, cant say it enough

Yeah, that's the bummer about events in settings like this. They cage you off good. I was frustrated by it the whole day even though I understand the safety concern of course.
I climbed a tree to where I was just 6-7 feet off the ground so I could actually see something other than wire mesh layers in front of me. The first barrier fence was 5 feet from where I was. The 2nd barrier fence with track-ward curving top on it was 5-6 feet from the 1st barrier fence.
I was politely told to get down. *sigh*

I'd have liked them more if they were a grass green, outlined in black.
I mean, how can you have an Irish Mike driving a car from Irish Mike's World-Class Automotive... and the car is blue with bronze lettering?
They looked decent though :)
