Does anyone know how to make the turn signals flash slower / faster? thanks! :D

u prolly have to add a variable resister somewhere. AFAIK the blinking should be controlled by a diode, so putting a resister in somewhere should change the voltage requirements somewhat to flip the diodes sooner, or not as soon.
I think the neatest thing is to wire the variable resister into the speed sensor, the turn signal flashes faster at higher speeds

You could just blink them manually... :D cheap, easy, and infinitely adjustable!!!

Well you know you might want to do a little research of your own. The blinker is controlled by a FLASHER relay. You can buy them at any auto store. As for where the factory one is located I would look around the main fuse box in the engine compartment. I think the problem you are going to have is that no one has ever done this mod. I can't understand why anyone would, but hey its your car.

I have done this mod. I just took out the stock blinker relay and put a fully adjustable blinker relay box thing. I think i did some kind of write up on it here, don't remember. I can show pics and a lil write-up when i get home. hardest part is looking for the stock relay which is all the way up in the middle of the dash. You have to reach all the way from the bottom and have the hazards blinking so you can follow the sound of the relay.

oh wait.. you have a GDA.. the relay is easy to find than the GC8.. on the GDA its on the steering.. just look under and you'll see a small black box (the blinker relay). I did this mod on my friend's wrx, but his is not adjustable. just swapped it with one of those faster blinker relays from a hon-duh (i know i know, but it works and he likes it) the blinker relays are all the same.. hon-duhs, subarus, etc.
on the street i have mine set to slow then when i'm on the freeway i have it a little faster or when i really really need to change lane and the other person doesn't notice me  works most af the time so it DOES serve a purpose. so no flames.

I know that Ive seen an adjustable device specifically for this purpose...
Pick up an issue of Super Street, and look through the ads, probably the same ads for stuff like airbag-suspensions and the like...
I KNOW that there is something out there that does this...
not my style, but hey, if it what you want, good luck to ya'!

Ghetto install for a ricer mod. ha ha ha. No, seriously there are some posts on clubsi.com for that and I think autodynamic.com has some sort of adjustable relays just to do that. I have seen those relays in Hawaii and Japan. Theres also the brake light relays that flash them a certain amount of time first as you brake then stay on.

personally, i dont think the faster/slower flashing is much of a useful mod, but hey, it will set his/her car apart from the rest.
i myself am changing my front turn signals to a running light/turn signal setup so people can actually see where the corners of my car are when im in a parking lot with the parking lights on..
i had my friend drive my car, all that was in the front was the headlights...didnt appeal to me, so i decided to go with hte parking lights idea. just another forward facing light when i get around to installing them. figures now i have my fog lights installed too, but oh well.
i will post pictures when i install em...but it will look just like any other car out there with front parking lights.

this is actually similar to what i did... but then aftereffect that happened to me is that the flashers went faster... about 4 times faster.... that's why i want to know how to make them slower....
the emergency lights are at the correct speed though....

Josico,
did you use a dual filiment bulb or just usea relay to make the lights stay on all the time and hten go off when the turnsignals are on(then back on as they blink off, and so on..)
thats what i did, but hte realy used too much current, and i ddint fell like getting a low-current relay for like $15 each, so i just put it stock.
now im going to make the lights use a dual filiment bulb like 90% of the other cars on the roads..car looks too plain from the front without parking lights im my mind.
anyway, like i said, i will get pics when i do this, i have to figure out how im gonna mount the light first(remove the original bulb holder and replace, or relocate it all together(most likely)
anyway, i will keep everyone posted when i do it.

hmm i just used the relay to make the lights blink....
so are you saying that the "high current" relay is making the blinkers go faster than normal??? and that if i used a "low current" relay then it will go back to normal?
but then how come the hazards are OK while only the blinkers are affected?.... i found the relay under the steering column and as i used the turn signals, the relay clicked faster than compared to when i turned the hazards on... though the same relay was clicking...... can anyone help? thanks! :)

that is a good question, im not sure exactly, but i would also like to know that..
probly has to do with amount of voltage at ground or something..
i read a post a while back about someone using a low-volage[drop] relay...
basically it has as much resistance as a tiny light bulb, not like the normal relays which usually drop about half the voltage off.

simple answer...and flame off if you wish, but this was my preference....
I replaced my rear blinker with an LED one...since they use less draw they blink faster and clearer...on the GC8's they only work in the rear <i don't know why> on the rexes I think they work in both locations in front I am sure of it, brickdawg did this on his rex...

That actually looks good to me, cause that big ugly orange plastic thing just makes the headlight look bad, and I dont think its that great of an idea just to pop those off and leave the light showing... Plus you have a little mini Infiniti Q45 thing going with that LED :)
Although, red blinking lights are highly illegal (imitating emergency vehicle lights), but orange or white would work great.

This crap is so played out... The "flasher" or "beaters" as it was called in hawaii was one of the first "r!cer" mods to come out in like '95 or so. Not bad I thought but it got played out really fast...
I myself followed the crowed though. If and I'm pretty sure that the flashing is relay controlled. It's a matter of removing a resistor in the relay housing and replacing it with a potentiometer. It's quite easy and can be done for about a dollar and change, providing you have a soldering iron.
If your really interested, I can tell you how to do it via this way or you can spend about 25-40 bucks for a premade one that is adjustable(straight from Japan too). I do have to say though, that there are some "beater" flashers that have a rythm to the flashes and looks cool. It's kind of a flash-flash, then 5 extremely quick flashes, flash- flash. Although that can be made too, I don't want to bust out my old college books on electronics and timer circuits.
If you do want to buy them, I can know of a few places that can get it for you.

ok I found the pics for the blinker relay... here it is: (this is what i got for an adj blinker relay)
| Daios | 02-16-2002 03:16 PM |
and here is how to install it. find the relay wire harness. turn your hazards on and follow the sound. in the gc8 it up in the middle of the dash and in the gda it on the bottom of the steering rod. once you find it, disconnect the wire harness from it. then wire up this adj relay to it. hold it like it is in the pic where theres a slot on the left, top, and right. the left is ground, top is blue, and right is red (+). you can ground the wire at a different ground, where ever it is closer. the other pieces that came with this kit was not needed. test it to make sure it works then mount it where ever you like.
