See-Through Hoods part 1

See-Through Hoods
Alright...I'm not sure what direction to take with this thread but i'll give it a shot...

Before i bought my 05 rex, i was looking at a variety of subies, especially 00/01 2.5RS coupes. There was this one 2.5rs i saw that had the craziest dress-up kit on the engine (that was insanely well built/modded as well), but what topped it off was a clear, see-through hood that allowed you to see the block at all times.

What is the deal with these clear hoods? Where are they sold...where can they be found.

oh, and what do you guys think about them?

shoot I seen em somewhere, may have been NOPI or something.... not that I think they look good, but you can also get color tinted transparent ones as well for that extra 3WHP :)
AlbanianImpreza 06-09-2005 04:14 PM

not sure where u can find them but theyre made out of plexi, u can get one cutom for cheap.
kogs 06-09-2005 04:16 PM

I think they'd look good on a show car with a nice dressed up engine bay...ricey, but cool non the less. I wounder how they would hold up against the heat of the engine bay?
AlbanianImpreza 06-09-2005 04:18 PM

theyre not too bad, my friend had one on his SE-r held up againt a T04e or sumthin like that pushin bout 22psi, long distance trips an such, its treated or something im not sure

Just out of curiosity how much do those clear hoods cost ?
looks kinda techy and somewhat cool IMHO
migs76 06-09-2005 04:38 PM

um...he did that with photoshop. took one pic with hood closed and one hood open.
UltimateLurker 06-09-2005 06:06 PM

 was there ever any question? LOL
itjustWoRX 06-09-2005 06:07 PM

yeah that does look chopped...

but seriously...any vendors out there with this type of stuff? any ( :p real) nasioc members with these hoods?

and good question earlier bout how they hold up to heat/weather/etc

its a new breed.
veightkiller 06-09-2005 10:55 PM

i'd say forget it and get a cf one.clear hood's that made out of a plexi won't last for a everyday use. (of your car ofcoures) it can't stand the heat of your engine.and starts to change color and cracks. seen it +bought it+ and it didn't last for 6 months= garbage

just my .02
crashtest sonny 06-09-2005 10:57 PM

^^haha you bought one!
veightkiller 06-09-2005 11:14 PM

^^ i's not for my rex it's for my lancer evo2 back home "philippines"
