Trackmonkey Racing has a great debut at the CMP Double SARRC part 1

Trackmonkey Racing has a great debut at the CMP Double SARRC
We finished off a great first race weekend at CMP and walked away with 2 class wins and a 4th and 5th overall out of 14 cars. We were put in a group with GT1, GT2, GT3, SPO, and T1, which are the fastest fendered cars in SCCA. Every car in the group was faster then we were, but we still managed to qualify and finish well. The car performed almost flawlessly, with the TopSpeed tune holding up great, and the Hankook tires and Carbotech brakes working awesome.

Our Hankook tires performed great and lasted through the weekend with plenty of tread left for testing in 2 weeks. Since CMP is hell on brakes, we were a little worried, but we had zero brake problems all weekend and I was able to go to the woah pedal hard every single brake zone. While the car had plently of power on the pump gas map, I can't wait for the National events to start so we can start using our 100 octane "race" gas map and pick up 40+ HP and TQ.

nice, though I'm pretty sure there's a rule in the GCR that prevents you from wearing ProSolo shirts at a road race [;)]
trhoppe 04-06-2006 03:52 PM

That firebird was awesome, I couldn't hear a damn thing from my car.

The paint/graphics scheme was all Miranda. I don't have anywhere near the artistic ability to do anything like that. My old car just had stickers slapped on it.

As far as the front wheel gap. I didn't have time to put the stock fenders back on the car for this race, but as it was a regional I wasn't going to get protested. These are still the old fenders from when we were prepping for autox and 315 tires, so they are cut.

And as far as the ProSolo shirt. I'm still kicking myself for not having my Hankook Motorsports shirt on for that pic!

ha! We're going to be scraping the bottom of the piggy bank in order to compete in T2 this year :) World Challenge is my 5 year plan though. Lots of things gotta come together, but a brotha can dream :)

You can always right click save as on the video and it should download no matter how crappy the connection speed.

For the next race we'll have the wide angle lens (Chase Cam) on there so you'll be able to see the whole steering wheel and lots more of the rear view mirror. I forgot to bring the parts necessary to hook it up so we just used the regular camera.

Great work Tom, and good luck in the future! I hope to be joining you in the club racing ranks by this time next year (albeit in a 1991 miata).

not going thru the gears Quickly....just sorta lazy shifting...not aggressive...

Actually..it sounded like my dad in his Porsche 911 going thru the gears...and since I can visually see that....is just a little lazy to me...sorry..didn't mean to confuse you...Carry on...;)

Hey Tom,

What guage pod is that? I kinda like it...

That would be Miranda Customs.

A few paint mixing sticks, a piece of 1/4 inch plywood, some shaping material and a bunch of fiberglass n bondo! I topped it with Suede for looks, so it matches the steering wheel. Cause I'm a tard. :D

Yeah I am trying to, the connection/dl timed out 2 times now... this stupid school caps file downloads sooooo low... but yeah anyway I am trying again (late night works best) but I hope it works, its transfering real slow but I just hope it doesnt time out.

ps. The paint on the car looks great, the car looks better than the icy racing sti's, heh ;)
Warp3 04-07-2006 08:49 AM

That's great news, Tom...congrats! :)

Downloading the vid now, so I can study it for the HPDE this weekend! :D (It is in-car, right?)

Ps. I want to see the clip of the video where you start stretching and saying "I am going to slow down now" just so you had someone to play with ;)

I agree. The more the merrier.

Tom, I am not exactly educated on the scca club racing system, but are you going to be able to make the runoffs this year, or 07? And when did you get your competition license. How many races are you going to participate in this year?
wrx2.0 555 04-08-2006 07:35 AM

Good job Tom...

Is the practice you're referring to the Jim Starke event at Roebling in a couple of weeks?
M. King will be there in his Spec Miata. Several of us are planning the trip to support/watch. We'll keep an eye out for you and say hey...

Scott
