Godfather Inc 03 06-14-2005 06:18 PM

What Do You Think?
Curently running a 05 Black WRX with injen CAI and Injen ses1200dp and black Konig 18'' Imagine wheels with toyo proxy4. I am planning on getting a Sti TMI, Sti Uppipe, and Sti crossover along with a froge BOV. Any suggestions on what to change or add please let me know.
audio1der 06-14-2005 06:26 PM

put stockers back. sell everything you have already and get the sti up pipe
Godfather Inc 03 06-14-2005 06:29 PM

why would i sell everything that makes no sense? Whats wrong with downpipe and intake?
audio1der 06-14-2005 06:32 PM

Godfather Inc 03 06-14-2005 06:33 PM

05WrB WRX 06-14-2005 06:34 PM

You could tell him why, instead of saying get rid of this that and those.
Godfather Inc 03 06-14-2005 06:39 PM

Nice Boston! Great Place!
wht052.5 06-14-2005 07:28 PM

Do you like your tires? I am planning to get some 4's next summer.
I've always been impressed by Toyo's.
Godfather Inc 03 06-14-2005 08:36 PM

yea they are pretty sweet havnt had any trouble with them
WRXFan420 06-14-2005 08:48 PM

OK, Where to begin, I like your setup. However, you are going to be flamed for the CAI and the Forge BOV. The intake aside from asthetic value serves no purpose. You are not gaining any HP from it. It makes the turbo sound great and if you have the stock BOV you will be able to hear it like an aftermarket.

On to the BOV. I have the Forge BOV and absolutely love it. I know it makes the car run rich in between shifts for a split second, but I could honestly could care less. I have been asked when I am going to take it off by many people, and my answer is "NEVER". If you want to run the BOV, my only suggestion is to remove all cats. You do not want the fireball caused by the BOV to burn up a cat or cause it to catch fire.

Save yourself some money and just gut you Uppipe. It's free and works very well. Not sure what you mean by STi Crossover, I assume you are referring to the Mid Center pipe with cat 3. STi midpipe also has a cat so you would be better off switching to a catless, again if you want the Forge BOV.

My .02.

True but didnt have time and i figured when i got back that would be taken care of
MikalsWRX 06-14-2005 09:16 PM

When you ask for opinions, you going to get them, Some nice, some not. Or I should say, some you will agree with and some you wont. My sugeestion is to read read read everything on this forum about what people say. Then form your own conclusion. Do what you like. If you like a certain wheel. Do it. Its your car, you drive it and you paid for it :D
Handsdown 06-14-2005 10:05 PM

first of all, those wheels are crap.

second of all, this is interior and exterior mod and care, not technical. go read all of the FAQs in the factory 2.0L powerplant forum, then if you have questions ask them in the proper forum.
Godfather Inc 03 06-14-2005 11:44 PM

first why are the wheels crap? Second my apoligies still new to the forum havnt learned everything yet.....Third...i think i will stay stock with the bov and go with the upipe...but what else? the mid center pipe...what other mods are there to do without upgrading the turbo to get more hp? i know there are alot of small t hings to do but any other major ones?
Rymep 06-15-2005 12:01 AM

Accessport is always fun.
Godfather Inc 03 06-15-2005 02:39 PM

ecuteck is better then acess port

U said the 2 magic words that get everyone riled up on these boards
CAI and BOV...do what you want but I suggest taking Unabombers advice and never put anything on your car without doing extensive research...

but really your fine... you need EM tho, whatever type you choose. once you start losing cats it is important to 1) assist the engine in processing everything correctly and 2) to gain more power from the mods you have.

dont sweat the CAI, injen makes one of the best ones on the market since it is designed to work with the stock MAF... the only problem with the others is that they typically do not have the same size opening as the stocker and thusly cause many problems with a/f ratios.

your dp is fine, sti up pipe is a good choice if you can find one used.

the crossover pipe or whatever to replace the stock 3rd cat is somewhat a bust of a mod. you gain little hp (3-5 if that) and you become totally catless, which is fine, but in most states it will most certainly make you fail emissions. people can get by most emissions testing with only the stock thrid cat so leave it in there.

BOV... i have one, most people dont like em here... its up to you, i'd put the money toward EM first tho.

and for the TMIC... it is a good mod if you really need it. you could do your own IC water sprayer on the stocker and it would be almost as effective for much less cost. on top of that the TMIC will somewhat affect the EM you get.

EM, if your going to upgrade your turbo at some point i'd say go utec... if you plan on just running the stocker catless and such as you seem to be planning... go cobb AP, its cheap easy and safe
how often do you have to pass emissions test its a new car so when would i have to get it checked?ps. i live in cali
You live in SoCal and have an 05...you will need to get smogged in 2011. Beginning January 1, 2005, vehicles 6 or less model-years old will be exempt from the biennial Smog Check inspection The Govenator passed this legislation at the end of 04. Soooooo...depending on how you feel about the environment you could go catless (with EM of course) and enjoy the thrill of newfound power and change back to catted before 2011..your call.

I would refer you to the SCIC boards...but I would suggest doing some searching first before starting a new thread asking questions. They'll flame u for a couple of days before you receive any useable info.
Godfather Inc 03 06-16-2005 03:40 PM

yea i didnt know how to do a good seach everytime i wanted to find information 1000 other pages came up for **** i dont need to know or hear about. thanks tho appreciate your help and not flaming me.
Homerisking 06-16-2005 04:30 PM

yeah searching is definetly an art form on this board...
I know I already gave some advice on the mods you plan to do, but I'll you give you some more..my honest opinion for power..

1) uppipe
2) EM
3) TBE

the above mods could potentially net you around a 13.4 -mile time (i'm sure people will debate me on this statement). The 04-05 ECU gets a little spastic once you start slapping on mods (like exhaust components)...EM is crucial. My rule of thumb when modding is to research like hell and if something like say...a cai..is debated to death on these boards on "whether it's good or not for your car"..I keep it safe and just leave it alone. ;)
Godfather Inc 03 06-16-2005 05:40 PM

Tbe???
