wagon front lip options?

I recall seeing a thread in here about some lips being made about 4 months ago. After 10 minutes of searching I give up and post here :/ This is for 02-03 impreza wagons.

Besides Aussie OEM kit this is the only other I know of:

It's what I'd get if I had a wagon!

I thought there were some preproduction pieces shown a while back. Ones that go on like a zerosports, etc. Not just on the bottom, but covers part of the lower bumper as well.

Hey, that lip was in the Vendor Group Buy forum, and I think it went bad. Some fly-by-night vendor and some pissed off customers.

Ack! Thanks for the heads up... I was thinking about ordering the carbon/kevlar version to match my new hood. bleh. what a nightmare for those guys who never got their money back! :furious:

Are you guys sure? It's a completely different site, and the lips don't even look the same.. the OE tuning one looks like an STI V2 lip.
| Basil | 12-23-2003 07:50 AM |
Guys, that's a completely different company - LNR and OE tuning are two entities. LNR, the company manufacturing the lip shown, hasn't had any issues so far. The best advice would be do a search on LNR before purchasing and then make your own decision.

The all time nicest lip isn't a lip at all- it's the Porsche designed front bumper. As far as lips go, us wagon owners are pretty limited in options. One vendor started a group buy on what turned out to be a pretty crappy piece. Other than that, your best bet is to source something from overseas. Any way you slice it, it'll be expensive.

what type of luck is there with cutting a sedan one to fit? If it is poly and moldable via heat then I imagine I can get it to look pretty darn close.
That porsche front bumper is WAY to restrictive for air flow to the frontal area when you are trying to run an APS 650 FMIC core :)

I'll vouch for Don @ LNR enterprises ... He's a local here and I have seen all his parts (including the wagon front lip) on his wagon. Very nice parts and they fit perfect. I've actually thought about getting one but have spent all my money so far on suspension stuff.

the LNR looks a lot like the Kaminari CF diffuser (that attaches to the rest of their lip)... the OE one was a STi V2 lip. I so wanted one, I wish they would have been legit and not screwed everyone over.
| MrDisibility | 12-24-2003 03:55 AM |
I vouch for Don also. I will be running that lip on the wicked one of these days as well.
I have met him in person, seen the lip and that white wagon a few times....go with LNR.

One more option for wagon folk -- DIY!
Here's my half-DIY-half- l'aunsport pliable urethane WRC lip for a very minimalist look. I posted installation and fabrication details on it about a month ago. Just do a search for WRC lip.

I'm happy to report it's held up quite well even in snow, ice, and salt.

cheers!

hmm, do you know what all was entailed with modifying it? I have a body shop I like to use locally, but would want to see if this would be uneconomical price wise.
| NegativeC | 12-24-2003 06:44 PM |
I would guess cutting it in the middle to shorten it up by about an inch and using a heat gun to mold it to the wagon's curves. I really have no idea though :D
I've thought about this but can't justify messing up a $300 piece.

this was the pic i used for the vividracing calendar contest (i lost :( )... i butchered a wagon bumper to make this greddy lip fit... it wasn't cheap so i guess it's in your budget....

I am the owner of one of the OE Tuning wagon lips- it came all screwed up, damaged, didn't fit, isn't actual CF (only the center piece is), etc... - It cost me $200 to get it fixed and repainted to work- total of $650 all said and done- here's a pic of it:

liberal? I believe a local AZ owner is making a swap with me in the near future and I'll have the front lip then :) Just need the sides to replace my stock painted ones.
