When is it to late to de-badge

iv had my car for about a year now and iv decided i want to de-badge the trunk, but i dont want to have marks from possible faded paint. is there a chance now that my car is a year old that i might have faded paint markes once i take the "Subaru" badge off?
thanks
thanks

don't think so, you shouldn't...use goo-gone, mcguire's scratch remover after, and then give it a good wax

I think you will be ok.. I waited about a year.. I do have a white car but even with dark colors it should be cool.

FWIW, I debadged my 02 WRB (Sept. 01 production date) just a couple of months ago (this passed July). At first it didn't look to great but I used a couple med-light rubs with some rubbing compount and then waxed and it blended perfectly. So, for me, 5 years was not too long.

I debaged my 96 a couple months ago and its fine, so you shouldn't have to worry.

I've had my car for 22 months now, and just de-badged it 3 weeks ago.
Use fishing line to cut the adhesive away from the letters (it won't scratch your car), use goo-gone or mineral spirits to remove the sticky tape, wash area, and apply wax (ideally cleaner wax, like Meguires Cleaner Wax) to whole rear trunk area (this will clean any residue/dirt you have on the trunk where the lettering WASN'T).
Mine is silver, but if your car is black, it will be most noticable I would think because of the lack of scratches (from washing/drying/etc) where the letters were. You can buff the entire area out to take care of this...

I debaged my 93 about two years ago so, what 11 years after my dad purchased it? and it came out fine. As Mavrik said its never to late.

light colors are fine.
it depends on how much time your car spends in the sun, how much salt/grime there is on the roadways, how much corrosive materials there are in the atmosphere.

2003 Sonic Yellow Lighter car, used dental floss+turtle wax bug amd tar remover.
Then Mothers cleaner wax.. 2 coats, then 2 more of meguars carnuba.
Unnoticeable lines what so ever, and sonic was said to fade significantly bad

Keep in mind, worse case scenario, you can always buy new badging. Should be around 25 bucks.

I debadged my car a few weeks ago, i know it was painted before i purchased the car but...when i went to debadge subaru, i took the S off and the S was indented into the paint, THEY NEVER TOOK THE LETTERS OFF BEFORE PAINTING!!!!!! so now my trunk has ghost lettering, which doesnt look to bad :(

Could someone quickly post the steps to debadging the emblems? I'd like to do this ASAP!

heat up the letters, not to much so your paint bubbles, use a hair dryer, then take some floss and run it behind the letters and pull down, this will seperate the letters from the glue, then just get some goo gone and use that to clean away the glue, dont scrap at the paint, i used a small plastic scraper from homedepot and a few paper towels, i found it worked best with the paper towels and windex though

I just debadged my MBP (yep, black!) 02 RS in August, and all it took to get rid of the ghosting was some claybar and a bunch of polish. After that, all good; can't even tell it was ever there.

+1 you'll be fine using this method....unless you have a lot of scratches, heavy swirl marks around the lettering. Go for it, you'll love it!

I realize you're not asking how to debadge your car but thought this might help. It was floating around in another post.

Just don't over heat the left over glue residue or it just smears when you go to rub it off (how would I know?? :p ). Otherwise, it works great.
