Lexington 07-31-2006 12:26 AM

Go_Rex_Go 07-31-2006 12:34 AM

Stealth_RS 07-31-2006 12:57 AM

veightkiller 07-31-2006 01:27 AM

i believe not co'z he said WRX one not STI. and if your planning to do a swap get the one out of an 04 sti.you only need to cut one wire do a search about it or go here www.scoobymods.com been there done that and im happy with it.

elsanto 08-02-2006 12:13 PM

2005 will fit. youll just have alot of warning lights on (DCCD, ABS, one more i forget.. i have it in my car which is an 02 wagon. the 04 is much more straightforward.
Go_Rex_Go 08-02-2006 12:52 PM

much straight forward as in installation or lights lol

can u pm me and lemme know about the install....i wanan buy this cluster soooooo bad!

these lights wont light up right(only at start up)...only the lights i need will lights up when necessary right??

will the shift light work?
step down 08-02-2006 02:46 PM

when u install the STI cluster into a wrx and start it up...do the gauge needles initialize (move) just like on the STI?

Also what year sti cluster is compatable with 06 wrx tr? Im gathering that only 2005/2006 is compatable or am i wrong?
Go_Rex_Go 08-02-2006 03:17 PM

Good Question!!
step down 08-02-2006 04:30 PM

hmmm?
Lexington 08-02-2006 05:15 PM

05 WILL NOT WORK, THE CONNECTORS ARE NOT THE SAME.

I hate to pull the seniority card, but I know my isht in this department.. do not buy an 05 cluster for an 02 WRX!! - you will regret it.
elsanto 08-02-2006 05:25 PM

^^ hey brainiac. I have it in my car.. and seniority card? look at my member number what are you trying to pull? IT plugs in, you have to shave off portions of one of the plugs, and rewire a little, but it works.

There is a MAJOR thread about this somewhere i can't find it right now as im at work.

sti111 08-03-2006 07:43 AM

It will not work. I have tried it and failed. The connectors behind the fuel/temp gauge has a extra pin. The shift beep will be on all the time as well.
elsanto 08-03-2006 10:37 AM

Foudn this info in a quick search in electrical and lighting.. im sure you could find more info there but this tis what i did.

1st, with the size dilemma on the plug, I just shaved the small plastic "slider" off, and it plugged right in with no problems........

2nd, I cut and taped off the dimmer wire from the factory harness (orange/white).

3rd, plugged everything in.....and TADA.... no problems what so ever!! Which doesn't effect anything, not my gauges, hvac or stereo. of course i can't dim the sti gauges, but that's fine.

Now, all you have to do is conceal the the sti lights (dccd, read diff, and abs)

OK? stop saying it doesnt work. because it does.
Go_Rex_Go 08-03-2006 11:17 AM

LOL this guy rules@!!!

Eslanto.. by senority I meant how much I know about swapping the gauge clusters in WRXs.. I've done 05-03, 03-04, 04-02, 04-06, give me a pair of needlenose pliers, some electrical tape and any gauge cluster, and I'll make it work. Some people don't like shaving/rewiring $500 pieces of equipment - and if you don't know what you are doing I would NOT suggest trying it. As for the STi cluster's warning lights.. DCCD, outside temp, rear diff temp, I got them to turn off.. how 'bout you mr. smarty pants???

OMG my member number is higher then yours!! I signed up later than you, so I obviously know so much less :(

to the OP:

Be safe and buy an '04 cluster.. it is plug and play except for the fact that you have to cut one wire - don't even have to attach it to anything, just cut it.

You can listen to me, and have an 04 cluster that is plug and play, or you can listen to him and get yourself into a wiring/dremeling mess.
Besides - '04s are cheaper than '06s

I'm going to purchase a 04 cluster, because i f-d the needles on mine trying to change the color on it.

since you have done this alot i just wanted to ask you which wire or wires do i have to cut out. and do you have pictures to see how to install it.

i would really apreciate any help that you can give me.

Cut the yellow wire with green stripes on the middle plug.

That's all you need to know, the rest is plug and play replacement
ljaviation 08-05-2006 01:20 AM

I like the relatively "plug and play" version better....
