I have the main headlight bulbs in (haven't gotten the fogs in yet) and haven't had any problems. The ones I got were pretty blue, but I definitely like'em. They're a little bit bigger than the original...lemme see if I can find the pics I did...
Crap...I didn't take a pic of the end result...I'll post before, after, and side-by-side comparison of the bulbs themselves (so you can see the actual bulb difference) tonight.

Hello all, funny this should come up. I was just about to ask what solutions people have been coming up with after these bulbs melt down your light plug & wire. I had them in for about 6 weeks they worked fine. I took the car for a 1100 mile road trip stopping only for gas. then the head light went out so I popped the hood wiggled the wire, it went on so i thought cool. After having to do this a few times I decided to pull out the bulb assembly only to find it fused to the light socket.

vinster02, did you purchase these bulbs from the group buy by Chad? The driving lights are rated the same as the stock's, even though they claim the output is like 80 or 85W. I believe the 80 or 85 W claim is just marketing claims, not really true. These bulbs should not melt the wiring. Please let us know.

Yeah, should'nt cause melt down thats what I was told also, but last night I was soldering in a new bulb socket. The bulbs that I used are nokya pro halogen bulb arctic white 9007 4100k.Also lower on the package it says 45/65stock - 80/100 nokya. also from looking for an error on my part that may have caused this, I found what seems to be the signs of a baked finger print but it was on the bulb that didn't cook the wires. As far as any group buy, no I picked them up at a local shop. PS only paid 35.00 for them.

vinster02,
looks like they type you have is a little different from the type from the group buy. Check out this link -->
http://i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=81016&highlight=nokya
They cost $45 shipped for BOTH driving light & fog's. The container that the bulbs come in is a lot more attractive than what you see in the pic. from the link, but the important info. (model #, watt rating, etc.) are the same. The type from group buy isn't artic white, but artic blue instead (if that makes a different).

Oh Boy, I was too lazy to find the container. I was just reading "artic blue" off the picture from the link. Sounds like it is the same bulbs. Wondering how we can get Chad into this conversation.

I've got the Arctic White 9003 55/65W =>90/100W in my RS. They are very cool looking, but not that productive. I just reaimed my headlights and got a bit more use out of them. In the fogs I got some Top Speed HID Blue bulbs I bought from speedybrent, they are the best bulbs I've had so far. they are almost pure white.

ATX25RS, how long have you been using yours? Seems like they driving bulbs you are using is even rated at a slightly higher wattage than ours. Any problem so far?
I do agree that they look really cool, but they aren't too much brighter than the stock bulbs.

I've had them for about 6-7 months, likeI said with the reaim, they are a little more useful. I think, at least my impressions, the H4's seem a bit more durable than the other sizes.

Yes, Garface.

Here's the size difference between the stock and the Nokya's. I'd hafta agree about the brightness, not really all that much more...a lot more blue, though. I STILL haven't put the fogs in yet...anyways, here's the pic...

i have 90/100 watt bulbs in my RS and nothing melted yet, except for the rubber cover that goes over the bulb. It looks like the heat made it soft and formed into a new shape. But my wires semm fine. Maybe my Catz system i had in before did the melting.
| westy66 | 09-11-2001 10:12 AM |
allright... soooo....
as far as i can see is, one guy had a meltdown and a couple others were ok. but, the meltdown happened after a LONG roadtrip.
thanks again,
Bob

I just got the bulbs for my MY00 RS and they are not 55/65w, they are 90/100w. Should I still put these in? This isn't what I ordered. The headlight bulbs themselves say 90/100w on them, so can these be right. I don't want to burn my harness. They are 9003 4100k 55/65w stock - 90/100w nokya. I ordered 55/65 not 90/100

I think they mean 55/65W =>90/100W they are 55/65W, but "perform" like 90/100W. Hyperwhite bulbs are notorious for making this claim. I've had mine for almost 9 months still no problems.

That's what I thought, the box says 55/65w stock and 90/100w Nokya, the bulbs themselves also say 90/100w on the metal plate at the base of the glass housing. I'm not sure it's a good idea to run these. The supplier assured me they are fine, but how could you just up the bulb like that?
| ATX25RS | 09-22-2001 10:31 PM |
I never read the bulb itself, even if they are 90/100W I still haven't had any problems.
