Hood Racing Strips outa style???
I work at a Sign Company as a Graphic Designer, i was considering making myself some custom hood & Body Racing stripes using some tinted Vinyl. i have a 2002 WRX Wagon in silver.
if the Strip which would run the entire lenth of the car. was suttle . not like a Black strip but just a slightly darker silver (almost like a tint) i can even make a strip outa carbon fibre vinyl. but i think that would look tacky
or are strips just not stylin anymore. ive always liked them ..
also what about positioning.. center or off center. neer the drivers or passengers side?
any suggestions would be great also any pictures with striped cars would also be helpfull.. if anyone has them
is anyone interested in possibly purchasing a custom strip kit. (possibly with "WRX" in the strip itself or something like that.) im sure i can make them fairly inexpensively.

normally...i really hate those stupid racing stripes....but that actually looks pretty nice on a WRX ^ ^ ^

I think they look good on some cars but I definately cannot see them looking good on a wrx... especially a wagon. :rolleyes: stipes just don't seem to fit the style of the car. just my opinion, though.

The neat thing about racing stripes on a rex/RS are how they accentuate the hood scoop...
But ya, they arent really in style unless your driving a viper or a neon :p

hey now! I own a neon (until monday!) :D took long enough for the wrx to come in, geez. been 2 1/2 months almost! maybe it's the resemblence that makes me like the wrx? :)

If they are done tastefully that could look very good. The only problem I see is the roof. Stripes that go over the roof always look to me like just what they are: a big sticker. Even if they are painted on. The front of the car would be no problem, but at the rear it may look disjointed if the stripes don't go over the spoiler, and may look cheesy if they do. They may look OK without going over the spoiler, though. It's hard to say without seeing it done.
BTW, I'm not knocking stripes at all. I painted blue stripes on my white Miata and loved the way it looked.
I say go ahead and be our Guinea pig. Show us what it looks like and what you can sell them for.

well i will try to come up with a unique design, last thing i want is to think that it looks more like a neon..
and if i dont like it i can simply take it off..
wont damage the paint..

I have a plotter, too. I want to put some vinyl decal on my car, but until now there is nothing except the Subaru at the back of my car. It is hard to get the right stuff on your car:p

Please no offset stripe with a smaller stripe by it. I have seen that done to death and it looks goddamn HORRIBLE!!!! :monkey:

BIG NASTY: I totaly agree with you... if the race car had them stripes, you guys would have already thought about putting that same stripe on our WRXs - come on.... admit it. :lol:

I too was thinking about some kinda stripe down the middle of the car. I was gonna go with a solid 12 inch stripe... I have a silver RS and I was gonna do a silver that was just a bit different from the stock color... so you can see it, but its not too obvious. I dunno though... Im still tossin it around in my head.

Not for me, but I don't think that the grey stripes look bad - maybe a little more subtle color change, and properly centered of course.
I like the WRX graphic on the front of one of the stripes as well. The side graphics are a little 70's IMHO :D
How about hi-tech grey tire tracks going over the hood & roof - heh heh groan

Hmmm... maybe if the lights were stock (or JDM-style lights) with the JUN eyelids, and the arrow/stripe started from there and narrowed down (but didn't quite come to a point) inside the hood scoop... anyone?
Not that I think my car would look good with that... but the black one above made me think it might look decent on a black or white sedan...
